Hi... I just wanted to point out that...श is a softer sound and does not need much force, while ष is a hard one, an aspirated sound. Both have very distinctive sounds, which unfortunately most people do not differenciate between because they don't know the difference.
Thanks for the comment. You are right that they are distinctive sounds, but in modern Hindi people tend to pronounce them similarly, except when the come in consonant clusters where the following sounds forces the correct pronunciation of both श and ष .
