recently finished my home theater room. I needed a universal remote to use my Sony TV, Onkyo receiver Nvidia sheild, Sony Bluray and Philips hue lights.
My Onkyo receiver was not in the data base (but I did get it to do some of its functions so not a deal beaker )
The Philips hue lights can only be turned on and off. There is NO dimming, No colour changing, and No scenes and you can't add then to a activity. This to me is the important reason to buy a remote like this.
To be able to site down press 1 key and everything i need to turn on turns on and the light dim to watch a movie. Press the off button and everything turns off and the lights come back up.
If you want a remote to turn on you tv, receiver set the right input and turn on you media without light control this is for you. But be aware you may have to learn somethings from your old remotes to get this one to work.

I actually prefer dedicated remote controls for different devices. The one thing I have always wanted on a remote control, but no manufacturer ever bothered with, is two-way communication:
I would LOVE to see a remote that also has a small display that conveys the actual device display; e.g. where I can see the track and time code of the CD playing ON THE REMOTE, rather than having to decipher the tiny display on my CD player with a pair of binocular from a 4 meter distance...

No number keypad, why? Stupid. You have to self assign commands like Menu, Record, really basic stuff, even after it “finds” your device in the database. Mine skips 2 steps for every 1 button push on every device. It’s maddening.

It will be a while until a company can make a product that will be better the Logitech Harmony remote

I'm sort of hoping thatthere will be a company that will create an open source network where these Harmony remotes will last even after Logitech closes their servers.@@audioarkitekts

There is a new version launching in second half of 2024. It will be the x2.
I held off on the x1 recently. I own the u1 remote and have had no problems with it. Just purchased the u2 for my theatre room and it works great. Faster response time. I can literally point it anywhere and can turn on all my stuff.

If you still have fully working Harmony Elite, would you change it and if so, why?

I wouldn’t because eventually Logitech won’t provide any service or updates for them I imagine.

I have it, and it is going back. It does not work as advertised. Just getting it turn off my cable box was not possible no matter what I did. The user manual is a disaster. They use terms that are not defined well. I sit all day long at my computer, and I spent all morning trying to figure out how to make it work. It never did. I had to Google how to update the firmware. It took about ten tries to make that work. This is a POS. There is no way to choose a channel on my TV. You have to use the scroll wheel to select individual numbers. And that almost never worked.

Wish it had more physical buttons. I still love my Harmony 700 and prefer a small screen and as much buttons as possible. With this one, anything other than previous/next, volume up/down, play/pause FF/Rew and mute you'll have to look at the screen.

I was intrigued at first. I have an old Logitech universal remote (I forget the model) that I have not used in forever. I have separate remotes now for (TV, Roku, CD player, BR player, Preamp, soundbar, etc. etc.). The Marantz CD player remote is one of the worst designed known on earth, I hate it! The Sony BR player remote is ok, but the player itself is garbage. (I will never own another Sony product again, I already want to throw the BR player off the balcony and go find an old DVD player to replace it).
Anyway, I really noted the 60 day standby time, that is very long on a recharge. The Logitech universal remotes are overly complicated to program and use. They are kind of hit and miss. I don't like one button remotes either though. The one additional con of this remote is the assignable buttons. They are just buttons with a color bar silkscreened, which I am sure will wear off in months as well. How is one to remember what one programmed? There should be labels one can use or something.
Finally, there is the cost. $200 for a remote? That is outrageous for such a product. No thank you, I go with getting up out of the chair to control said devices, which I do anyway for playing records, loading CDs, etc. All my devices have all controls also on the device itself except the POS Sony BR player. My Logitech remote was around $50 to $60 brand new when I got it. If this remote was say around $70 to $80, that would be more in line with reality.
