Hello everyone, Thanks so much for all of your kindness, ideas and sharing. I appreciate all of the support and encouragement. I came up with one more idea. I think I will keep a stack of these close at hand for exploring fun fold designs and card size alternatives. I thought I would share it. ✂️📄🌈💕🥰
Probably 40 years ago, my MIL gave me what I thought was an absolutely hideous shirt. I liked the colors but hated the pattern. She was so proud because she said it would go with everything that I wore. Darned if she wasn't right! I had pants, skirts and jumpers that this shirt worked perfectly with! I could make at least 8 outfits with this shirt! It soon became a favorite because as long as that shirt was clean, I could be out the door with no thought at all. That gift revolutionized my thinking on what I perceived as ugly. Later when I purchased scrapbooking kits and there were parts that I thought were unusable, I remembered that shirt and challenged myself to use those items. That perception made me much more creative. And.. like that shirt, some of the projects that I made as a challenge became favorites.
I love this story and do see things like that happen in my own life. I will get a craft supply that I am just a little excited about and somehow it becomes a favorite. 🥰📄✂️🌈💕
I have always loved quilts but I am not a quilter. So I have used scraps of papers that I didn't want otherwise and cut them up to make crazy quilt design or log cabin or just strips or squares with colors that are pleasing to the eye when fit together. Then I use a black marker to border the card and place a sentiment or whatever in the center. Some I have put a little v stitch around each to resemble the sewing and actually framed and hung on the wall. Thank you for the idea of using the white side for printing sentiments on the strips that will definitely be something I will do from now on. Have a Blessed day.
Hi Margaret, I love doing similar things. I really enjoy using my scraps for paper weaving. I am so glad you were inspired. Have an awesome weekend 📄✂️🌈🥰💕
I make my envelopes the same (easy) way, even though, I too, have an envelope maker. I've bought so many crafting tools that I could live without. Live and learn. TYFS.
Well you are just the sweetest Shoshonona. Thanks for watching and sharing such kind words. They lifted me up this morning and I am grateful. Hope you continue to enjoy and be inspired. ✂️📄😎🌻💞
When I was new to cardmaking I didn't know that the scale of 12x12 pattern paper was mostly designed for scrapbooking. I purchased several paper pads that just did not make attractive cards! Thank you for showing me how to use these sheets!
Great as always . I have that paper pad bought at the very beginning in a garage sale but I was eager to have paper to do something. That one is a thought one
Yay! Welcome to my channel and crafty corner of UA-cam. I am totally about, fast, functional and pretty. We don’t have to compromise beauty in our fast crafting. Lol. I am so glad you are here. 🥰📄✂️🌈💕
Great tips, thank you. When I do a card with scraps, I always use ugly paper underneath if I'm gonna cover it all up. And when I use a diecut that I want to be a focal point, I cut it 4to 5 times out of ugly paper, clue them on top of each other and then glue a nice one on top to show.
Hi Bonnie, I am so glad you enjoyed it. Lately I have been using my scraps to cover an entire 12x12 paper pad that I no longer needed. It has been so very fun and I have used 12 sheets. Yay!!! I am busting my stash in 2022 and so I hope you can find more inspiration here. 💕🥰🌈
Hello Rita, yes that is a great idea. My daughter loves all my paper. She gets to open my packages and pick out goodies. It is a delight to share with her. Thanks for sharing and saying Hello. I am glad you are here.
Thank you! I do have some paper I'm not crazy about. I'm not in the mood to craft right now (tired from stripping wallpaper, and painting, and it aggravated my allergies). So, I think I'll sort out my less favorites for now, and set them aside. Maybe I'll get inspired with my dies, stamps, and embossing folders...
Thanks so much for sharing, Beth. That is a wonderful idea. I live paper weaving thin strips to make backgrounds as well. I am so glad you shared and joined the chat here in the comments section. 💕😎🌻📄✂️
I totally agree. Call me Crafty Al did a video yesterday making a wonky paper background with her scraps. It looked so great I am going to have to try it. Thanks so much for joining the conversation here on the comments section. I am so happy you are here on my channel. Happy crafting! 😎💕✂️📄🌻👯♀️
Another idea that kind of goes with your stenciling/gesso one, is emboss resist. I have used a fine-line background stamp, clear heat embossed onto a busy pattern, and then inked with a dark ink. The ink covers the pattern wherever there is no heat embossing, & helps to break things up. Thanks for all the tips. Take care & have an awesome day! :)
I usually use my ugly paper for template and card techniques and folds I want to try. Works well and give you a good idea how it will look once you do the real one. I don't use Gesso but I liked the result you got from using it; it's so toned down. TFS, Nicole
A cool trick using any kind of craft paint (possibly inks too?) is that if you put just a couple of drops on various parts of the page, and quickly use an old gift card to scrape that drop across the paper, you can get a nice, thin, and semi-transparent glaze over the pattern, similar to the look of the gesso (but in whatever colour of paint you used, obviously!)
Die cutting is what I usually do with my not so favorite pieces of paper. Or if I really don't like it, I'll use it to back thinner paper that I do like. If backing a light colored paper, I'll just flip it over, and use it upside down.
Thanks so much for watching, Marianne. You will certainly be seeing my stash and ideas. I am so glad you are enjoying them so far. 🥰✂️📄🌈💕 Happy crafting
All of my one sided paper can be used for multiple uses because it can be used as white paper. I use them for sentiment strips, layering under an embellishment, etc. The hard stuff to work with is the double sided paper, so thanks for various ideas to use them.
I have used a couple of these ideas in the past, thanks for giving us the different ways to use this paper without throwing it away. What I don’t understand is what possessed me to buy it in the first place. Every paper pad can have a few uglies in it but I look at some entire pads and think why would I have paid money for this?
Thanks for all these ideas! They're good ones! I have an envelope punch board, I messed up big time every time I used it. Stopped using it for 4 yrs. until I saw a card demonstrator use it in a video. Voila! For some reason it clicked! I love it and use it all the time now if I need different sizes, or matching envelope. I am a new subscriber and already love your channel. Thanks!
That’s awesome, Eileen. I hold onto mine knowing it is an amazing tool and that one day it will click. I am just not there yet. Lol. I am so happy you’re here and loving the channel. Stop by and say “Hello” anytime. 🥰📄✂️🌈💕 Have a blessed week.
Does your envelope punch board only make square envelopes? I have the We Are Memory (etc.) board with such a T I N Y, F A I N T, dimension panel, but I’m pretty sure that E V E R Y dimension given is “same” X “same”, so the envelopes always come out square!! Not quite as “uptown” a look as I’d like!!! I do, however, like the die cut it gives at the fold points. I wonder if they couldn’t just make THAT a PUNCH, and give us dimensions for the card sizes we make!
Love all your ideas! I recently started giving my bestie some of the papers I don't want and she finds a way to use them on her cards. Sometimes I just use the white side of the papers if it's ugly or not my style.
Hey Camille, your so sweet. It always a great idea to share and pass along the love for paper crafting. We should probably put a warning label on the goodies. “Warning, this hobby is addictive. Proceed with caution” ⚠️ Lol. Thanks for watching and saying Hello. Happy Crafting 📄✂️💕😎🌻
I have been seeing you in my feed for a while now. This title sparked my interest and I am not disappointed. Great tips and ideas....new subscriber. TFS🌷🌸❤️🌷🌸
😂 this is so funny. It’s like you can read my mind. I see a lot of papa Drs in my stash that are not aesthetically pleasing to me (or downright ugly). I like your tips especially using them to strengthen other papers or emboss the reverse. I actually embossed some really ugly paper and it was so beautiful after it got the treatment. When people see those cards they always ask me about the paper. They don’t believe it was a “stinker”. I still have a piece and when they see it they’re in disbelief. Thanks again for all these fantastic tips!
Thanks so much, Sabrina. I have thought of some other ideas and so many people in the comments came up with great ideas too. I might have to do a follow up eventually. By the way, your new release is incredible. Love those hummingbirds and everything else. Seeing your business grow is super awesome. You grow girl!
You gave lots of great ideas and tips in this video! You blew my mind with how you made that envelope....WHAAAT???? Pretty awesome! Love the cards and junk journals. ; )
Hi Elizabeth, I am so glad you shared. I feel like I am still on the hunt for a great 12x12 trimmer, double sided tape, die cutting machine and storage solutions. I am a work in progress. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching. Happy crafting! ✂️📄🌈💕🥰
Hi Penny, Such great ideas regarding that "ugly" paper. When I started card making a few months ago, I had absolutely nothing but 3 of my friends invited me to make cards with them. They each gave me some things from their stash. It really got me started. You have such a good heart and when you mentioned about making up a pack with some ugly and some nice paper, it really reminded me of how I started out. Congratulations on reaching over 1K subscribers and growing - You deserve it! God bless you. Love and hugs from South Africa. 💖🤗
Hi Noreen, Oh my goodness, I absolutely love your story. How amazing is it when we share, shine kindness and are generous with our blessings. I am so glad and honored you share this with me. I have shared with friends starting little paper fires for card making. It is a fantastic hobby that blesses everyone it touches when our hearts are open. I am so glad you are here. It is so much fun getting to know you. Many blessings from Texas.
Hi Jane, these Spellbinders papers probably would be great for origami’s. I actually don’t mind them being thin because I can layer them up. I am buying more 12x12 pads here lately because I feel like I have so many more options. But don’t get me wrong, if it’s pretty paper then I am all in. 😂💕🌈📄✂️
Hi Penny, I recently stumbled over this video and I absolutely love it!! What company is the paper cutter/score board you usw from? I was looking for one that size but couldn't find one like yours. Thanks for the Inspirational videos, looking forward for more. Best wished from germany 🤗🌞
Hi Debbie, Thank you so much. I use the We R Memory Keepers Trim and Score. It is wonderful. I appreciate your kind words and support. I am so glad you’re here. 🥰🌞🌸🌈💕
Hi Bitty. I stumbled upon your video. I stayed, watched and have become your newest subscriber. Isn't it funny, we either save our paper because we love it and it's too pretty to use or we save it cuz it's ugly and we can't figure a way to use it. Bit you have given me some helpful ideas. Thanks so much. 😊
Hello Brendaelaine, beautiful name. You are so right. 💯 I am so glad you are inspired and thanks for subscribing. I hope I can share many more fun ideas with you. Thanks for reaching out because I love chatting in the comments section.
I own no embossing folders ... They're on my list of things to purchase! And wow this is a great way to use icky paper...gotta admit, that one you used on the mat and emboss... Eww. Lol! I use mine for sentiments and also I love making masterboards! Or I cut them into card size and frankenpaper and glue scraps down. Thanks for the ideas! ❤️ Craftygoodnesscrochet
Hi Mary, yeah that paper was a totally made for this video. Lol. I LOVE Frankin paper. It is so much fun. I have a video coming up sharing my process and some card ideas for using it. Thanks for sharing and reaching out. 📄✂️🌈🥰💕
I love most patterned paper, but I will keep single sided papers I don’t care for and simply use it as white cardstock for layouts, cards, die cuts, embossing, etc. I rarely ever buy white cardstock anymore. For double sided papers I don’t care for, I’m always able to find someone else who loves it!
Artists should understand that you don't have to explain beauties is in the eye of beholders and whoever does this is into art .we came here to see what to do without ugly paper exactly what you said.
Lol, right. You and I think a like, but I find that putting myself out there means I find people that think differently. Lol. I have been trying to be more sensitive to the fact that my opinions are not always wanted or appreciated. Lol. Not even on my own channel. 🤪 Thanks so much for watching! ✂️📄🥰🌈💕
I got the layered circle die cut from SPELLBINDERS. They have oval too. They are fun because you can switch it up and have lots of variations. The die is called Tiffany Lavaliere product number s5-393. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching
Great video. I'm with you on using the envelope punch board. If you run your vellum thru embossing folder, it will further mute the pattern below. Love the card you made using P & M embossing folder. I made a few cards using it too. I put them up on my Instagram. If you would follow me on Instagram I sure would appreciate it. I'm not as brave as you to do UA-cam videos. I love all the ideas you showed here today. Thanks again for taking the time to do these videos. Stay healthy and happy my friend.
Hey sweet Mary, I love your cards so much. I was on IG earlier today and saw your cards. I adored them. I loved the things you did with that P&M kit. The cards were strikingly beautiful and totally fresh. Thanks so much for watching and I forgot about embossing vellum. It has been a while since I did that. Thanks so much for the reminder. I love hanging out in the comments section. So much good comes from it. Hope you are staying safe and joyful. 🥰💕🌈✂️📄

Thanks so much sweet friend. I have a little challenge for you. I would love to see some hacks for ugly paper in scrapbooking. 👏✂️📄🌈💕🥰 it would be so cool to see what you come up with. Thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Thanks so much, Heather. I figure that the companies try to give us lots of variety and you can’t be 💯 so these things must be common between us all. I am glad you were inspired. Thanks so much for watching and saying”Hi”.
Thanks so much. I am honestly totally shocked. I appreciate you so much and am glad you are here. I feel like we have so much in common and are kindred in our crafty adventures.
Hi Pamela, I am so glad you asked. They can be used for task keeping, list, personal journals, memory keeping, idea books, glue books, really anything you like. I am actually going to make one for journaling about my childhood memories. They are great fun to make and use. Hope this helps. 🥰✂️📄💕🌈
Hello Deborah, I use Tacky glue in that little unmarked bottle with the green lid. I have recently fallen in live with the Bearly glue. It’s absolutely amazing. You can find it on Spellbinders and Amazon. I am just using up what I have and keep filling up that little bottle. Hope that helps.

Great techniques for using up paper we don't love!! It is amazing how much gesso can do.
This is so right down my alley. I am searching all over looking for ways to morph a ton of ugly paper into something else.
As soon as you said, “It folds over a card and it mails.” You had me as a mew subscriber. Too funny. Love the ideas

Such good ideas for the 12x12 whole page scrapbook pages I'll never use. I liked the use the back and emboss idea. Easy for anyone.

My favorite quotes: "it folds over and it mails" and " front pattern is just too hideous" thanks for the laughs and the great ideas.
I have decided to get into crafting...for profit and fun..this is a gr8 video.
I donate my “ugly” paper to kids groups. They love the patterns and bright colors.

Super ideas thanks Bitty Penny 🙏🥰🌈💕xoxo
The smaller pad is usually for origami that's why the paper softer if I'm making cards I always go for the 12x12 and it's always thick paper

Hi Penny,
I recently stumbled over this video and I absolutely love it!!
Cleaver approach to undecided papers 😉
Thanks so much, Lue. Glad you enjoyed it. I figured this is something we all face at one time or another in our crafting . ✂️📄🌈🥰💕

Thanks so much for sharing and watching. 🌈📄✂️💕🌈
Please where did you get the dye cut? That pint pink paper was perfect for that dye
Thank you!!!!
So many great ideas! I know I have those papers that I bought so long ago and don’t know what to do with. After watching your video, I know what to do! Ty for the wonderful ideas and inspiration. BTW CONGRATS on 1k!!!!! Woohoo!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💗💗💗
Thanks so much sweet friend. I have a little challenge for you. I would love to see some hacks for ugly paper in scrapbooking. 👏✂️📄🌈💕🥰 it would be so cool to see what you come up with. Thanks so much for watching! 🥰
This is a great public service announcement on how to use that paper we keep passing up p each time through a pad or kit.
Thanks so much, Heather. I figure that the companies try to give us lots of variety and you can’t be 💯 so these things must be common between us all. I am glad you were inspired. Thanks so much for watching and saying”Hi”.
Congrats on hitting 1000 subscribers!!!!!
Thanks so much. I am honestly totally shocked. I appreciate you so much and am glad you are here. I feel like we have so much in common and are kindred in our crafty adventures.

Interesting ways to use paper we don’t care for. Never thought of using those sheets for a junk journal. I wonder... what is a junk journal used for?
Hi Pamela, I am so glad you asked. They can be used for task keeping, list, personal journals, memory keeping, idea books, glue books, really anything you like. I am actually going to make one for journaling about my childhood memories. They are great fun to make and use. Hope this helps. 🥰✂️📄💕🌈
Donate. Use you pretty paper. I tend to hoard it. Great ideas. Love your vid.
Thanks so much, Terrie. I figured we must all share the similar experience of being “stuck” when it comes to some papers.
nice

Thanks so much. I will check it out. Hup Holland.
What kind do use?
So sorry what kind glue do you use?
What kind of glue are you using, please?
Hello Deborah, I use Tacky glue in that little unmarked bottle with the green lid. I have recently fallen in live with the Bearly glue. It’s absolutely amazing. You can find it on Spellbinders and Amazon. I am just using up what I have and keep filling up that little bottle. Hope that helps.
I make index samples of all of my dies, and use my ugly paper for that.
Hi Linda, Wow! That is such a brilliant idea. I love it. Thanks so much for sharing.
