I just submited my PhD dissertation today. I randomly watched Shad's episode from Amoeba's "What's in my bag?" series and came accross this song. I like it
His songs tend to have recurring themes, and even recurring settings and characters to a degree. I'd suggest starting from the beginning with the "Fallow" album by the Weakerthans, and going from there.
Sounds Familiar on "Fallow." Left and Leaving on "Left and Leaving." ...Night Windows. ...Sun in an Empty Room. ...Tournament of Hearts. ...This is a Fire Door Never Leave Open. ...Heart of the Continent. And now this. Whatever stage I'm at in life, John Samson has a very timely song for it.
I'm preparing one too but not comfortably though...despite doing this so many times I feel there is little or no improvement...why am I doing this? Found the same thoughts on the Web from a professor somewhere in Europe during the 17th century, struggling with his presentations and little believe in himself...I guess some people are just feeling this way about themselves and their capacity...
I have come back to believe in Pop music in 2016 for some music with animations ... and I find the merit in some artists of the label antirecords ... please ...keep it that way!...
I'm listening to this right now because presented an awful presentation today. I made a fool of myself in front of the entire class. This song makes me feel better about my shitty presentation.
Postdoc Blues>>>>>> So your presentation went terrible All wrong dongles, sweat stains and stares Leave the TV on with the sound down low, in your underwear Don't despair, you'll get it right tomorrow night in Thunder Bay, maybe Don't delay, your day is short, you can't afford to wait I believe in you and your Powerpoint I know why you can't stay awake Out on Highway 1 with a rental car, and a lot to say Don't despair, you'll get it right tomorrow night in Nipigon, maybe Don't delay, our day is short, you can't afford to wait So take that laminate out of your wallet and read it And recommit yourself to the healing of the world And to the welfare of all creatures upon it Pursue a practice that will strengthen your heart

Something about the way he writes songs that when he hit he hits hard. Sure would like to meet him one day and say thanks for sharing virtue with us.
Whoever made this video deserves all of the props. Thank you
First I've heard of John K. Samson, definitely enjoying it
If you haven't heard them I recommend his band The Weakerthans. They're so good. :)
A lot of catching up to do. Lucky boy.
I suggest getting into The Weakerthans first if you can. You have a lot of catching up to do as the people have said.

Weakerthans, AND my favourite Propagandhi record. Less talk, more rock
Sounds Familiar on "Fallow."
Left and Leaving on "Left and Leaving."

...Tournament of Hearts.

True
Nice voice, and the instrumental really fits it.
This song feels like a rainy afternoon in London.
I don't know what I'm talking about lol
I love all that John K. does but as a post-doc studying wildlife ecology this hits WAY too close to home...
Don't despair
@@TheWelshBrothers tomorrow night. Am I too late?
Hope you have done well in your research bro.
I'm sitting in front of my PC in my underwear comfortably preparing a PowerPoint presentation that is going to go terrible.

My god I miss John and the Weakerthans.

I heard him yesterday at the WInnipeg climate action protest, it was good.

So your presentation went terrible
All wrong dongles, sweat stains and stares
Leave the TV on with the sound down low, in your underwear
Don't despair, you'll get it right tomorrow night in Thunder Bay, maybe
Don't delay, your day is short, you can't afford to wait
I believe in you and your Powerpoint
I know why you can't stay awake
Out on Highway 1 with a rental car, and a lot to say
Don't despair, you'll get it right tomorrow night in Nipigon, maybe
Don't delay, our day is short, you can't afford to wait
So take that laminate out of your wallet and read it
And recommit yourself to the healing of the world
And to the welfare of all creatures upon it
Pursue a practice that will strengthen your heart

How I don't know what I should do, with my hands when I talk to you, how you don't know where you should look, so you look at my hands
This is even worse at the PhD level, I guarantee it. I believe in myself and my PowerPoints.
Ads for Crohns Disease and Anti-Depressents. UA-cam knows Samson listeners all too well
I know this is 2 years old - but I just wanted to remind you that UA-cam ads are targeted based on your browing history lol.
