No.
No.
it's a lot of fun, but let's not pretend the trilogy belongs in the same strategy genre as the TW games before it
neither terrain nor position nor flanking really matters, single entity units and AoE beat out any strategy
I think this game is somewhat of a hero heavy RTS, so basically a MOBA like LoL, especially with the focus on OP abilities that need to be spammed as soon as they are off cooldown
How about you get a real job sellout shill... Advertising for scammers makes you one too.
I own every dlc for every game. And I feel pathetic for it.
This game has a strong "Just one more turn" component, that makes your originally planned 1-2 hour play session take out most of the day.
My sleep schedule has been fuckked by this game. It is so hard to put down.
"LegendOfTotalWar's Playstyle"
Historians: "And as you can see, it is here, at this moment, that cheese truly became a popular dish."
"The besieging faction did not anticipate the Gate Bug strategy at all and were taken aback, loosing the initiative, and all forward momentum, as a consequence."
"And here you see how the Lord of this country is riding a giant eagle past the enemy over and over to make them waste their ammunition before he engages with his main army"
and here you see a giant eagle swooping for 4 hours killing whole armies
Legends of total war playstyle is witty but honestly I do not like playing like it.
And people tend to view it as "high skill" or something and get angry when CA reduces range unit and magic abuse because "oh no I can't win with 3 units vs an army".
Completely different playstyle of AI and mechanic abuse vs immersion based gameplay.
Also led to the popularizing of the myth that most units are useless.
If your abusing mammoth doomstacks. The rest of the norscan roster is not useless. You can use them till late game. But mammoths safe the effort of time and thought.
@@loowick4074 newcomers cant learn immersion based gameplay right at the start. the game is daunting and nothing makes sense to a person who is firstly playing the game. legend's way of playing provides a roadmap which teaches a lot to new players. it gives confidence that i can actually play the game and become good at it. later when i have confidence i can diversify as i want. the philosophy of cost optimization is natural to many people. why should i play with less optimal units in my army when game mechanics make mammoths OP. balancing the game is not my job, i will play as i want. i am not badmouthing players who like diversfied armies etc, i like watching enticity and he plays with such inefficient armies, but he makes up with his amazing skill on the battlefield. achieving that skill requires investing a lot of time in game which is hard for most players. time is very precious.
01:03:00
There is an incentive to build multiple military buildings, it just isn't explained anywhere. If you have 10+ of a building copy, the units it creates can be recruited via global recruitment quicker (so you can quickly restock on elite units from anywhere!)
Wait whhhhaaatttt
Was this in previous versions too?
wait what? can someone confirm this?
@@Aconspiracyofravens1 I can
I get sky junks and sky lanterns for 2 turns less
Meaning sense the minimum is 1
sky junks take 2 turns
Sky lanterns 1 turns
Except for Dark Elves which don't have Global Recruitment.
Just upgrade Black Arks for those.
Funny, isn't it, that WH3 has sort've become like the Games Workshop store where you saw all those cool miniatures as a kid? An expensive, somewhat inaccessible treasure trove of fantasy and creativity locked behind numerous walls, monetary and otherwise. New players are pretty much the kids staring at the sets, wanting to experience the world at its fullest, but perhaps unable (or unwilling) to because of those barriers.
How the turns table.
You're seriously underestimating how expensive GW's products have been. As counterproductive as IE's barrier to entry is it's still not remotely as insurmountable as the tabletop's. Particularly considering how common sales are.
@@fourthspartan5654 You're right, the tabletop is ridiculous. I was just drawing a light parallel between the two, and how this feels like it's followed in the tabletop's footsteps-even if it's in a greatly diminished form. It shares the DNA.
Awesome comment. I have a hard time getting my friends into it cause of the cost. I keep telling them it's the greatest strategy game ever made.. but the cost makes it so hard to get them into it. Which I understand.
usually what happens when u are late to the party.
@@shadamyrr12 This is horrible logic, we should want Warhammer to have as long a lifespan as possible. Accepting that people late to the party will be fucked over makes that much less likely, if not impossible.

A solid video, I agree with pretty much all of it. If I were to add one thing it would be that the lore team doing the writing has been absolutely on point throughout the entire trilogy, it is the one thing that never faltered. This game really nails the Warhammer fantasy feeling.
I would feel almost petty mentioning the few mistakes (even then, arguably subjective for the most part) they have made in the sea of things they got right.
For me this brings the game to an entire new level of delight.
oh for sure every lord has its own flavorful quests
Absolutely. The 1 place I think they've missed the mark is with the new races (Vampire Coast, Kislev, Cathay, Chaos Dwarfs). Don't get me wrong, they've done a lot right in making them but I feel they've lost the groundedness that makes all the fantasy elements work together. The issue's not the wacky stuff being wacky, it's the _normal_ stuff not being normal enough to provide a baseline.
If they'd made the Empire like they did the new factions, the greatswords would be dual-wielding, the regiments of renown would all be on fire, the artillery would all be pulled by demigryphs, there'd be a ranged unit that throws eagles, the top tier melee unit would be half-eagle men with bird heads... It's so much better the way it is with a mostly grounded roster spiced up with wizards, demigryph knights, steam tanks, etc. It lets the special stuff actually feel special.
This matters more for some factions than others but I'm disappointed with Kislev and Cathay especially. They don't feel like the baseline for game 3, they feel like... World of Warcraft or something.
Didn’t expect this game on this channel, but boy am I here for it!
Exactly. This video topic was a surprise but a good assessment of a huge world.
The game is in a sad state... player numbers are dying again due to the buggy state of Immortal Empires... CA is just throwing more money at shills again that is why
That battle against the stack of four skaven armies made me feel genuine fear.
Nice job on the victory
"For the Vermintide, yes-yes"
Right, it was great
This video is absolutely spot on. I've been playing Total war games for twenty years now and I'm a history geek who was originally very critical of CA moving to the fantasy theme. But once I played it and undertood the endless oportunities warhammer brings to the series, I was hooked. IM is just stunning, a truly fantastic game, bloody amazing. BUT you recommend it to a mate and their response is always, "what, you need to buy three games". Sort it out CA!
1:11:24 YES PLEASE! The requirement to own multiple games just to have access to the big map is such a hard sell to newcomers, and this game desperately needs them. Granting easy access to the GOOD campaign instead of the frankly busted "main" one would be such a huge help in keeping the game alive for future DLC and patches to happen
Even worse, the requirement to own multiple games to even play immortal empires. If you could at least play immortal empires with just warhammer III, just with the only the III factions as playable would be a start.
Thats weird. My friend owns only TTW3 and she can play immortal empire with us. But just with factions from the third one.
@@kalousioncz9163 only the host needs all 3 for multiplayer
@@Marcusjnmc Oh thats why. Thanks xD
The game will stay “alive” for future DLC and patches regardless of anything, the Total War series has a diehard fanbase of whales that will literally buy every single thing they put out no matter what
I truly believe that minor settlement battle spam is the primary reason why Warhammer III is still in [Mixed] on steam reviews
That and the huge initial review hit at release. It has crawled back up from like 40% positive to almost 70%
There's also the fact that it doesn't make Mortal Empires obsolete. In many ways, Warhammer 2 is still sort of... better than Warhammer 3.
@@aran998 bruh lowest was 56% for "all reviews".
With now at 68% I think.
"Recent reviews" went from 50-40-30 and then 81%.
User reviews are very volatile.
@@Count.Saruman comparable I would understand but I don’t see how it’s objectively better, why do you think it is?
@@darrenegan3891 I said in 'many ways', not objectively, but here goes:
1)AI is more aggressive and challenging.
2)There aren't constant minor city sieges and more field battles.
3)There aren't brightness ossues, texture issues and frame drops
4)AI doesn't randomly turn off during battles
5)The game doesn't try to force or railroad you into playing a certain way for most factions
6)The colour palate is grittier and generally fits the tone for warhammer better
7)The map isn't completely crammed with 'legendary lord here' and there's good living space for almost everybody
8)Confederations are much easier, allowing for a more aggressive campaign while the option for a slower one still remains
They did exactly what NeverKnowsBest wanted.
Which part?
@@arthurius_3022They made immortal empires playable to all players, buying the previous games now just lets you play their factions.
@@arthurius_3022 Making immortal empires available for everyone that owns wh3. Which is the reason I started playing
I really enjoy your content in general and am extremely pleased you chose my most-played game series of all times.
You raised a lot of concerning and encouraging points. Most of them I couldn’t put in words any better and I am truly thankful I don’t have to anymore. I especially like your journey from Warhammer I to II to III.
However, I spent over 2200 hours in Warhammer 2 and over 800 hours in Warhammer 3. I also apparently don't have a life and shouldn't be able to function as human being.
Alas, I do feel the cracks are showing in the shiny, polished alabaster surface that is Immortal empires.
Like struggling Atlas, game III can’t handle the size of the world it is meant to shoulder.
The AI's behaviour is way inferior to Warhammer II. CA is actively removing overpowered but bonkers and fun mechanics that were an integral aspect of the second game. Most older races aren’t implemented perfectly yet, with a plethora of bugs surfacing and seriously hampering the fun. Siege battles are becoming a chore after that many hours and units on the battlefield don’t follow commands, forget what they are supposed to do, or do something else entirely.
Pathfinding is broken, AI cheats are omnipresent, and diplomacy while improved, still is so limited vassals and allies turn out to be more of a hindrance than a boon.
I won’t go on because I’ve rambled enough already.
So all in all these concerns are minor, yet over the course of many hours start to be so very grating.
So for all newcomers, my verdict would be: Start with Warhammer II, it’s the most polished game of that sort we have on the market and once you run out of interesting DLC to play, regions to conquer and settlements to build but still hungry for more, buy Warhammer I and enjoy Mortal Empires. If that still isn’t enough, upgrade to III get Immortal Empires to see the differences for yourself. Besides, I still habour hopes that Warhammer III might improve and manage to get some problems fixed in the future.
People tend to forget that this is FORTUNATELY a beta. If this right now was the final product i'd be concerned because there are - as rightfully stated by many - some minor but also major issues with the current build of Immortal Empires Beta.
Always stoked to see a new vid from you. you’re hands down my favorite reviewer
Amazing review! Love the mention of the changes the game had from wh1 era.
A recent Update made Immortal empires accesible to everyone who only owns Warhammer 3, i think this should be noted or pinned here somehow
"Total war fanbase seems to be stuck in a civil war of history vs fantasy fans."
Not so much a civil war so much as CA itself having not made a good history game in over a decade.
Never expected one of my favorite youtubers to make a video on one of my favorite games!
I love this guy. He is a true professional regarding game reviews.
Just in case anyone is wondering: you no longer need to buy all three games for the IM experience. It is free for all owners of TW:WH3 now. They also have adressed or at least changed pretty much every criticism brought up in this review. It is absolutely worth the money.
> Creative assembly isn't the only company that tries to maximize profits
Keep in mind, they're owned by SEGA, so this isn't just CA, it's their business daddy in Japan demanding results.
Great review. Conclusion made a very strong case for making Immortal Empires available in Warhammer 3-- popularity and profit.
Ooooh Warhammer! You've been on a hot streak! Warhammer and Souls are just fantastic. I hope you do more Warhammer criticisms/reviews!
Good video, deserves recognition from the community. I am of course a fan myself, tabletop wasn't aviable in my region of living back then, but i've spent hours in the historical titles and now i am doing some Immortal Empire campaigns in WH3 and i am having a blast. Of course it's expensive, but it's one of the best titles in my game library and i value it a lot.
Huge fan of the channel, thank you for the content!
Honestly one of the best reviews of the game I've seen, even compared to the youtubers who solely cover Total War.
It makes no sense but in many game series I play the dedicated youtubers are sometimes less reliable to the normal consumer than someone who is well informed and plays the series but not a drooling fanboy.
Mainly because dedicated youtubers are more biased to one or more things they personally like and take slights to drama involving content creator and company relations into account on their perspective for a game.
You can get absolutely jaded POS or full on neckbeard shills.
So sometimes dedicated youtubers are unironically not the best place for an unbiased review of a product.
they are all paid shills... if you listen to youtubers to get an opinion you must be desperate
@@loowick4074 Agreed. This is especially true with CA and their " partner program".
To be fair there're abit of nuance to UA-camrs who cover a certain game, or games. Personally i don't think those people are biased & not as informed because they're forcus on covering some subject, no they are simply not a reliable source of info. Many dedicated UA-camrs do show great insite & knowledge, good connection with the wider community and some do have strong opinions that reflex the status of the game & its problem (more or less depend on how much said person wanna hammer down his/her points).
(My opinions its "abit" long but i wanna give good UA-camrs justice & distinct they from other who do similar work, we are talking about hundreds if not thousands of peoples here who reviewing games or anything in general.)
It's heavily depend on said content creaters themself cause if you want reliable information, more honest & less bias yet still entertain to watch ... we have to judge each UA-camrs and there contents quality, individually:
. How long have they been followed the game/series/franchise ?
. How good its there knowledge & understanding of the things they cover ?
. How much efforts they put into there works
. What do the comment section reflex on there videos quality ?
. Do they acknowledged about there biased & everyone opinions ?
. Ect ...
Then we decide if there information its worth following, only watch a certain type of video they made or skipped them for others we may prefer.
Awesome! Thanks, man. Appreciated.
I don't play the game but love watching cinematic battles on YT. "Epic" is a perfect word to describe it.
A point I found particularly appealing, but which doesn't come up until the very end, is when you mention that you've only ever purchased four additional DLCs. All through the video as you described the tremendous amount of content, I still took it with a grain of salt assuming that you were referring to all of the DLC expansions. It's really promising to hear that those aren't necessarily necessary.
Also, you totally called me out on "What if needing all three games led someone to start by playing through Warhammer I, only to be disappointed?" That's exactly what I was about to do, having had 1 sitting in my library for ages but seeing 3 go on sale. Now I've decided to get 2 & 3, but start playing directly at 3, and will at least be able to base a judgment on the best the game has to offer.
Excellent video. Massively comprehensive and answered all the questions I've had about the course of the series.
Thank you for the breakdown, and subsequently putting it back together again.
Thanks for this review. Was looking for a more recent review that took into account the perspective... of being somewhat objective!
Loved hearing about your battle against the Skaven and their assassin
This was the best comprehensive review of TWW I have ever seen, thank you.
I used to see the Games Workshop stuff here in Canada and I was also smitten. I bought my first decent computer so I could play Shogun, and I always had it in the back of my mind that if those guys ever made a Warhammer game all my childhood dreams would come true.
Very nice review, great video!
You called it their going to make immortal empires free to everyone who own warhammer 3
Fantastic review. Thank you very much.
That time commanders section just unlocked some deep forbidden memory, I completely forgot that ever existed
I randomly searched for “warhammer 3” and came across this video on a whim, surprisingly released earlier today. The game was such a letdown at launch. No matter what faction you chose, it was all the same experience. After watching your review, I now have renewed interest and have reinstalled to try it once more :)
i really love your videos. keep it up my guy
I genuinely wonder if they watched your review. The changes did a lot of what you wanted, especially for the barrier-to-entry of Immortal Empires.
An interesting future video idea may be to do a series on a specific aspect of the gaming industry over a span of time. E.g. DLC 2000-2005: the beginning, 2006-2010: the new norm, etc. Each video covering a different time span of that aspect, serving to be both a past retrospective as well as setting up a personal retrospective every quinquennial.
Excellent review, liked and subbed :)
Every new video you make is 100 percent spot on for me. Better than I could articulate myself. Get out of my head.
Hey, @neverknowsbest . Returning here after 900h of Immortal Empires. I’d just like to say thank you for setting me on this great path of love and frustration. Loving every minute of it. Cheers from Brasilia, Brazil. ✌🏽
Absolutely epic video! I even felt like signing in, just so I could click the like button. Monumental!
They just released a patch that made the fix u suggested with the settlement battles only trigger if it's tier 3. I hope they make more of the improvements u suggested
So, do you have to buy the 2 base games, and all of their DLC + this game to enjoy it? Or can you just get WH1 and WH2 (With no DLC?)
Funny story: I got the blood pack, Grim and the Grave, and the Queen and the Crone in a Sega "Make War not Love" event they used to hold.
Great video. Love this game. Just cannot get bored of it and there's still more to come!
So much more to come. There are seven race slots that haven't been filled. Also CA said they are releasing content and doing support for this game for the next five years.
@@electromancer2645 I wouldn't read too much into the race slots. Currently, the only races that are guaranteed to be added are those who had an army book, which just means Chaos Dwarves.
Aside from them, there's just Araby, Ind, and Khuresh. Araby probably isn't coming because its land is rather heavily occupied by Tomb Kings and Manfred *and* Volkmar. Ind and Khuresh are wildcards, Cathay shows that adding entirely new content isn't beyond GW but we shouldn't assume that their presence means that another incredibly improbable event would happen. GW would have to do a whole lot of work to make them both.
@@fourthspartan5654 I mean, I am sure if they do fill the slots it will be with one or two factions each and apparantly a couple will probably end up being mercenary companies with unit rosters of already existing units. I don't automatically assume they will fill all those slots but the promise for 5 years of content and support from CA gives me high hopes and moderate expectations. Personally I really want Chaos Dwarfs and a Dwarf rework alongside it next. And that seafaring high elf admiral faction people keep mentioning. And I really hope they do some work on pathing and gunpowder/firearm units. These are my only really HIGH hopes for the game. Everything else I keep reigned in
@@electromancer2645 Sure, I don't think this is unreasonable.
Though I will note that 5 years of content is going to include a bunch of lord packs and similar DLC for existing factions. Which will add up. So it's not impossible that they won't end up adding any new factions aside from Chaos Dwarfs.
But you're right that it's a long-time and anything could happen.
@@fourthspartan5654 yeah. They are pretty good at listening to complaints so I see settlement battles, siege battles and enemy AI getting the attention first. Hopedully that will still come with some new lords. And I really wish they would lay off of Chaos and demons and such. We. Have. Enough.
Thanks for the review!
OH MY GOD I'VE BEEN WATCHING UR REVIEW AND WAS AMAZED AND U SUDDENLY POST MY FAVORITE GAME 😍
Boys they fixed the pricing for IE all you need is TWWH3 gogogogogogogo!
I'm really glad I waited a year before buying this game. I absolutely loved warhammer 2, so I would've been massively dissapointed had I played this at launch and had to wait half a year for immortal empires.
I started on TW:WH2, I gave it only like 25hrs and even duh was a good game I hated the fact that you are in a time chase race for the MacGuffin to win instead of letting the player chose a way to conquer. Later I was intrigue of the possibilities of play the races of the TW:WH1 so when was as 50% I bought it, and was the best buy I could do. I did not know what Mortal Empires was until I got TW:WH1 also. It fixed all the problem I had with TW:WH2 regular campaign, I already have 1k+ hours on it. So when I hear that TW:WH3 was releasing, I planned not to buy it until was added to the rest on Immortal Empires.
Well, its out now
It’s out now (in beta) and it’s really good. The ai could use some polish and I don’t like the frequency of settlement battles but that’s it really
@@bootmanbill2362 the multiplayer Immortal Empires still has a lot of issues with crashing and lag involving multiple players using diplomacy and other menus but i am not complaining about it. We just report the bugs because we know they will eventually be fixed. Every giant game like this is going to have some growing pains.
Holy shit! Didn't expect that from you!
Anyone who's ever played any of the older entries seriously can see how the games deteriorated in quality and has done so significantly.
I'm pretty sure in a recent update they made immortal empires available even if you just own the 3rd game.
got warhammer 1,2&3 in the start of the year, i have plus 400 hours on both, and they´re still my nr.1 go to game, i have played alot of totalwar over the years but never warhammer, i have been a huge Tolkien fan and after trying the first total war warhammer on epic games i was hooked, this was lord of the rings on steroids in a sandbox
Amazing work, ty a lot. 👍
Came back to this video after putting a lot of hours into it. I am really glad it came to GamePass PC and extra double glad they made Immortal Empires into exactly what you suggested - Available with TW3 with base factions and you can play as other factions based on what you own from past games.
So I now own the first game for the Skaven and one DLC for the Lizardmen 😎
the bit about one half of the game feeding into the other reminded me quite a bit about persona. there is the social simulator and the jrpg that alone are not amazing but when working together make an experience bigger than the sum of it's parts.
This was a fantastic review. I bought Warhammer 1 back in 2016-2017 but didn't play all that much. I recently started playing it again as the Empire. And as I was searching up TWWH1 tips videos on UA-cam and I just stumbled across Immortal Empires through the algorithm. I didn't even know the games could combine like this and was planning on playing a campaign in each game.
Even though it sucks that you have to own all three games, it made me so hyped to know that this was possible and I cant wait to play Immortal Empires as soon as I've bought WH3! This really feels like the definitive Total War game and something I can see myself playing for years.
I'm just hoping WH3 goes on the steam sale that starts in about an hour as of writing.
We like your videos, keep em coming :)
1:02:37 i'm pretty sure that's already a thing.
I think i found it when looking at the tooltip for income: "as your empire becomes larger, some will state that the money "dissapeared""

Loved wtw2 but hadn't touched this yet, your video convinced me. When wife asks why she hasn't seen me after work on nights for a month I'm gonna tell her it's your fault :)
Yet another hour long video on a game I have/will never play, let's gooooo!
2:18 Steam recent activity only shows how much you've played overall during the last two weeks, aka across all games on your account. To see a specific game's playtime the last two weeks you have to enter the game and shift-tab, or enter the game's store page.
Great review.
Considering how much you seem to love tense battles and the great strategies and diplomacy aspects of the games, i REALLY recommend the manga or anime Kingdom : It's set in ancient China and follow real historical events and follow an underdog who wants to become the greatest general and a King who wants to unify China. It's full of non stop insane battles with mastermind strategist and very brutal stuff.
2 problems however : the anime has a TERRIBLE CGI in the first season making most people drop it immediately, but it improves later and the latest seasons have been fantastic.
The manga is clearly the better choice if you can choose it however, but it doesn't exist physically in USA and i'm not sure about UK either, so the only option is to read scans on internet. But it's worth it, the artstyle is phenomenal after 100 or so chapter and the cinematic feeling of how it's drawn is incredible.
Sorry for the long post but anyway, if you love the Total War series, read or watch Kingdom people.
What a coincidence, I was just looking these games in Steam yesterday, but I wasn’t sure if I should start from 1 to 3 or just going for Warhammer 3 directly. Thanks for the video 👍
Unfortunately really need all three games to get the real wh3 experience otherwise I would recommend actually getting 1+2 on sale first. The mortal empires campaign is still amazing were the solo wh3 campaign is still pretty bad.
@Grayble's Gringus only with 1 bought tbh without it it feels very much the same as wh3
You know I have been playing Total War all my life now, and still am surprised they have not added "formation moves at pace" (only with space - forward arrow but even then the army keeps bumping into each other due to speed differences), its still in the binary after all these decades

I've just rolled with it after beginning to play warhammer 2. Manually winning battles the auto resolve says are dire defeats is a feeling like no other.
This is a high quality video and I hope people watch it all the way through it.
I love your videos. Why can't I donate to your channel? Dont really want to create a patreon account, but have def been know to throw a $20 spot for a super chat during livestreams!
I'm new to the lore of the series. Is there any mention of 40,000k or vermintide in this game?
I have game 1+2 and only play mortal enemies. Is it worth buying total war warhammer 3 now in current state?
Always knew you were a man of culture... Btw completely agree with you about the minor seige issues 100 percent. Theres so many people that feel the exact way about the deployment phase only building and how seiges can be improved in this regard in general so let's hope CA listens. Completly hit the nail on the head regarding the business model too and it only makes sense and is so painfully obvious that it can only be the fault of a greedy out of touch executive board that it is not the way you propose in the first place. Btw people looks like the franchise is 50 percent off today in steam, get too it. 👻
Great video, just one thing though. For mutiplayer only one person needs all 3 games for immortal empires to be playable for everyone in that lobby All other players only need warhammer 3 to play they'll just be limited to the content they own.
They weren't allowed to mention Rome Total War or promote it in anyway on Time commanders as it aired on the BBC which had a strict policy against advertising. The only mention of it was that Creative Assembly were listed in the credits.
You made my day, man!
I hope I can build a pc to run this one day. My current rig struggles to run Warhammer 2 with multiple army stacks
Daym, now that's a nice video!
thanks for reviewing warhammer 1. I own it but never played it because i only it got it for mortal empires
not expecting Total War content here but 1000 times yes. My dad owned a copy of Shogun on our old Windows 98 and i played it as a kid but only recently as an adult have i come back with 3K(mega dynasty warriors fan lol) and Warhammer
I have approx 3k hours across all three games now. All achievements for all 3 and it’s my fav game of all time, beating out the Civ series and X series (my other all time fav games)
Newbie in the game here, asking for suggestions: should i start buying all the collection of games of Just the third one?
Big note: Total War Warhammer 2 is free this week through Prime Gaming.
WH3 is on a discount right now. 10% is not much but still I wanted to try it out. Will it be on a more of a discount in the Autumn sale? The same question for all the DLCs.
I got the game during the mid stages of WH2. Got all DLC and both games on a sale, I think it was 50 or 70%. Since then I've been buying DLC(even if I don't play them, lol) as they come out. Oh and also WH3.
Warhammer 3 is on Xbox/Windows game pass if you fancy just giving it a go without wanting to commit to the full 3 game purchase for the Sandbox full globe mode.
WH3 has not had a discount larger than 10% since release. So I wouldn't count on it but it's possible.
I already own everything up to WH3, both games and all the DLCs. I am just really eager to try out the game but I pretty much already know what to expect. So it is not about trying the game out but rather is there any point in waiting for a discount? I know I've written *try it out^ but that is not what I actually meant. More in the lines of I want to play the game.
All the previous games and DLCs I've bought on some sort of a discount. Never payed a full price as I have a really low opinion on them in terms of how bloody greedy they all are. Even if the content is good, still not worth that much.
Lol I love how you haven't bought all the DLC either. CA really puts the squeeze on our wallets to get a full experience in WH3. Very Paradox-y of them.
Edit: You said the DLC situation isn't that bad but it does suck how each race feels incomplete without DLC. In some cases you lose access to a race's best units without DLC.
CA and Paradox have very different DLC philosophies. PDX has switched to mostly a system of free mechanics and paid content, so each update benefits players that haven't purchases the accompanying DLC. Due to the siloed nature of mechanics in TW:WH, CA locks a lot more mechanics and content behind DLC. For instance, FLC lords should just be available to everyone, even if you haven't purchased the game/DLC for accessing their race. That would open up LL like Imrik to all players, not just those that own WH2.
I can understand why many don't like how PDX handles DLC, even if I don't personally agree. CA's approach, on the other hand, is harder to justify when there are so many DLC gates in the game and many (like IE requiring WH1 and WH2) don't even follow any kind of logic outside of maximizing revenue.
Yeah, he probably didn't face the full power of other races because some of their best units are locked behind a DLC like the High Elves Sisters of Avelorn or Eltharion's own exclusive units from his faction the Mistwalkers.
@@Cross-hx1wp That's not correct. Even if you don't own the DLC, the AI has access to all units.
@@AmericanViking14 oh it is? because I don't own the DLCs back then I never saw Alarielle bring in SoA or maybe the AI just didn't bother to recruit them I only saw them bring Silverin Guards and thats it.
There needs to be a deep dive video on that Time Commanders show
make one
Bought 1 and 2 on release but waiting out this one at least to get it at the end of the year, as it clearly was pushed out half baked in a way its two predecessors didn't feel like at the time. A few more updates and the full map out of beta is required.
It actually released in a better state than Warhammer 2 and Immortal Empires released in a way better state than Mortal Empires.
The difference is Warhammer 2 had 5 years worth of updates before Warhammer 3 dropped.
Incredible, looking for deals now to buy all 3 and as many adorable dlc as possible
Thanks for the vid
Looks beautiful bro ... wish I had it ...
1:11:00 Important note here, I do believe that, like Paradox games, it is only the HOST who is required to own all three games to host an Immortal Empires campaign. Others can join owning just Warhammer III. I'm not 100% sure here, but I'm fairly certain.
As for the DLC, I think if you pick up Norsca, the Vampire Coast and Tomb Kings, you're honestly good to go IMO. And potentially BftBG, because CA...
Wow, now that's a battle.
A number of things you mentioned about Warhammer III were in Warhammer II first, modifiers for public order, and giving targets to allies.
My first total war game was rome on the ipad. Since I’ve gotten a pc I’ve bought quite a few of them. I like the mechanics but hate the ui and updated menus so I haven’t played the new iterations as much. Medieval 2 with divide and conquer mod is all i need
