Some compare Lara with Celine. Celine's pipes might be bigger, but Lara is such a better interpreter. She lives her songs and every single lyric. That's why Lara is the GOAT. Period

She is "very emotional" one can say. But too much emotion and once loses control. However this is flawless perfection. It's hard to understand.
This looks almost like she is two persons: one lost in the emotion, giving herself, losing herself and another one, a musical genius mastermind able to control every whisper, every vowel..

I listened carefully, repeatedly to that last "I'll Let you go, now that I found" RING (Lara doesn't "belt", she RINGS). The vocal artistry and skill in that RING has far more to it than a WALL OF SOUND POWER CHEST VOICE. The choice she makes has years of formal training and flat ass hard work behind it. Those 8 words have some stunning choices. From "I" to "I" she jumps an Octave like she's on a playground, I [G4], Let [A4], You [B4], Go [C5], Now [E5], That [F5], I [G5], and then sings 3 notes on the word "Found" straight back down an Octave back to G4. The pure RING WALL OF SOUND that came through my Senhieser HD 800 S closed back Studio Monitors sent shivers down my back. My GoosebumpOmeter redlined. If you listen carefully she doesn't sing "Found", she sings "Fa" [B4], "ah" [A4], aabt" [G4]. I think I could fit a softball in the space she creates in her mouth by NOT singing "ound" on that final G4. She keep her jaw wide open by singing consonant "ah" and never enunciates a "ound" because you can't keep your jaw open singing "ound". She chooses to sing a "word" that is nothing like "found", she actually sings "fapt", but you never know it. That arpeggiated Octave Jump UP and back Down [G4-G5-G4) in those 10 notes is not heard often today, if EVER. If your a singer today, STUDY Lara Fabian. I can see why Dimash did. She isn't just a Vocal Master of multiple languages (e.g. Brandon wants her to do "books on tape"), she is a GENIOUS. Wow, how do you miss something this phenomenal?

Lara has a gift that allows her to ride a wave of emotion on the point of breaking but it does not, What breaks is the listener. You break, I break. You cry, I cry. Your heart constricts and so does mine. She is a genius at living a song and sometimes it takes her some time to come back to Earth after the last note. I wish her audience would respect those moments with quiet.

Lara's magic is that she will break you, but then she will heal you. You can always trust her in that way. Just a few comments- 1) what she said about songwriting, remember what I said about Adagio being a love song to the powers of inspiration? That's it right there. 2) when she gets to the "I let you go, I let you fly" I literally feel my soul soaring into the ether. Every time. 3) I really appreciate what you said about the tension she held and what a voice teacher will say to us mere mortals. It immediately brought it back to me lol. But I don't think anyone else I have seen react to this has cued into that, it's an excellent explanation of what she's doing. The hold on the "n" is interesting, like she's stalling and doesn't want to get to the actual end, as in when this horrible conversation is over so is the relationship you don't want to end. I hope she will see these incredible reactions you do, she does that sometimes.

Yes agree too. I"m also a music composer of over 600 songs and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to compose musically or lyrically when I sit down at my pianos. For that reason, I do what Michael Jackson used to say about music writing. Just get out of the way of that energy within you that will be writing the song. Sure enough by the end of the day I have composed a song and sometimes the lyrics as well. That is what Lara Fabian talks about in the beginning of this video. The energy within you will tell you how to write a song. But, if you are too busy thinking, that muffles that inside voice. I always recommend this song Broken Vow because it has all the elements of perfection (emotion, truth, crescendo, and uniqueness).

Arguably, "From Lara With Love" is the greatest live performance ever recorded and, for me, "Je Suis Malade" is the single greatest song from that album. Lara co-wrote "Broken Vow". While this performance is 20 years old, I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing her live in DC just before the pandemic hit. She is just as magical as ever. She has been in North America more in recent years. performing with David Foster, Josh Groban and has even been a judge on __________(some country,,,I cannot remember) Got Talent. Having listened to and read about Lara's life, it really hurts me so much, everytime I see this performance, "Je suis malade" and "Caruso". I feel that these are the songs that hits close to home, and in particular no doubt "Broken vow" where the she was and always be directly involved.
The true artistry in Lara comes to the fore in her singular interpretation and delivering of a song, any song. I could see her scrutinizing the lyrics of a song, capturing the mood, the movement, the lows and the highs, and the placing of the dynamics (and probably changing some if she's not happy with what she sees). The end result, the outcome, is what's important... Did the people, did thd audience understand what has happened?
Oh, she's a master! Peculiar, unique and above the rest. She's the Queen vocal artist.
I really your reaction. Moving and sound. ❤

I have never been so floored by a singer emotionally. And as you say, she use different ways of expressing her songs. You might called it not a schoolbook technique but who cares about technique when you are floating on a cloud totally hypnotized by this woman. GOD!! Great reaction and very true opinions about her greatness. Thanks!

Lara (not Laura - thank you for not making that mistake) is a special breed among (french) singers, along Aznavour : she makes you believe - and feel - as if she had truly experienced personally what she sings about. Don't think that that is (always) the case. As we say in French, she is a real 'interprète' (performer), not only a singer... Naturally, she has changed much in every way since this was recorded. By the way, most people don't know that, for this TV concert for CBS, she had to sing most songs TWICE (hence the black or red dress)! That was a feast in itself ! ---- Now, a little more than 20 years later, Lara is at another place emotionally, sentimentally and, definitely, artistically. I sometimes disagree (...), vocally speaking... but, still, I keep coming back to her. No one is more Authentic. ---- You might enjoy "Je t'aime", here in 2018, in Montreal. A totally different twist, and it works.

That’s Lara Fabian effect… She is so amazing… She takes you where she wants to go, she gives so much in her songs, in the way she sings… It’s pure emotion! I would dream to be so talented, to master my voice the way she does… but she is just gifted… I really like your way to feel Lara’s songs, you’re so sensitive and honest… I like it!

Lara Fabian is someone very special. Most of her songs we hear on these video's were from around the turn of the Century. She can be labeled a child prodigy, for sure. She was discovered by her father. Yes! He was driving somewhere in his car and Lara was in the back seat. All of a sudden she burst out in song in a style that shocked her father. The rest is history and she still sings to this day.
My friend, I have a big trio of singers I follow and each one of them has their own style but have one thing in common. They touch my heart. Lara is one of them and the other two are young performers. One is named Dimash (his first name) and, ironically, as a young boy learning how to sing, he admired Lara very much and studied her techniques and overall style. They eventually became friends and are still close today. He has an assortment of songs that will blow you away. Most of his songs are not sung in English although he is getting better speaking the language everyday. He is from Kazakhstan and is about 27-28 years old and is already regarded as perhaps the greatest singer in the world right now. He has a 6-7 octave range and learned from Lara how to incorporate emotion into his music. You will love him. The other is a young girl, currently 15 years old, and although not officially marketed to the world yet (family decision) she is 'loved' by millions around the world and in my mind, she is the best singer in the world now, at 15 years old. She can bring tears to your eyes the first time you hear her sing within 20 seconds. Her name is Angelina Jordan. She's from Norway but currently lives in Los Angeles. The family relocated a couple of years ago before the pandemic.
And, what brings Dimash and Angelina together is that besides their musical abilities (both have been called a musical genius) they are wonderful human beings, very humble and they genuinely love people. Both have accomplished many humanitarian efforts in their short lives and they believe that love in our hearts is the best way to begin to make the world a better place to live.
Lara is wonderful and so is Dimash. Dimash can bring you to tears singing a language you don't understand without any subtitles translating the lyrics to the song. It's remarkable.
Angelina is something different, though. She will touch you like the other two but, in her case, the feeling you have for her doesn't leave after the song is over. She will never leave you. You'll understand when you listen to her.
I've just discovered you but from watching your reaction to Lara I felt compelled to send you this comment. The kind of person you are, it would be a terrible mistake for you not to include Dimash and Angelina in your collection of incredible artists. Let me know if you need assistance in finding out what music you should listen to the first time around.

Your reactions are great and she deserves that sort of admiration. Broken Vow and You´re not from here are my 2 Lara´s favourite songs in english. I can´t say any more than I already expressed in other comments because I will repeat all my experience through her singing and performing those and other incredible songs she does. Oh, she´s amazing

Ciao Dad_React_ I would like to propose the (little known) version of Lara Fabian of the song "Calling You" from the movie "Bagdad Cafè"
(on UA-cam: "Lara Fabian-Calling You-Live-Legendado") really extraordinary. I'm from Italy and subscribed to your channel.
I feel empathy with your emotions and abilities to grasp the details of her performances,
that I've been following and studying for the last few years.
I'm sorry for my poor English, usually the subtitles of your comments help me (I missed them in Caruso and today in Broken Vow).
It's a pleasure to have met you, thank you for your time.

I believe that 90% or more people here are deeply in love with Lara: her beauty, her half-closed, dreamy eyes, her singing, acting, and story-telling abilities. She can move a person and touch our souls like no other singer can!
