Well done! Jerry Reed was one of the greatest guitarists ever. Occasionally I like to befuddle a guy playing guitar in a bar who asks for requests. I always ask for Jerry's Breakdown. And the look of fear in their eyes when I ask is always funny.
Excellent rendition of this cool tune John! I am a Chet and Jerry fanatic and if they were here today, I think they would give you the nod of approval. This is why I love this guy. He can rock yet isn't ashamed to throw down some kickin' country instrumentals. You are the man 'John 5'!
@@kevinmarrett9532 - I am a hard-core fan of Chet and Jerry's and a guitar player of over 50 years as well. But come on people.... let's not compare apples to oranges here. John is primarily a rock guitarist, and neither he nor anybody else claimed his version was the best or perfect. I like it and think he did pretty damn good. Are you a guitar player than can pull this tune off??? I know, let's have Chet or Jerry take a stab at John's music. I bet John plays this Chet and Jerry tune better than they play his stuff. No disrespect to the three guitarists implied. 🎸🎶
Dhika Yudha Perdana No, he had, except from being an awesome guitarist, a special tuning. I think this version is ok, and probably as good as a cover of Jerrys breakdown can get.
Drummer here: John, whenever you come to Vancouver you should call me. People call me the groove monster... but I have a monster swing, too. I’d love to jam with you.
It’s a good try for a metal guitarist but the phrasing of the Jerry Reed fingerstyle part is just done in the wrong syncopation. The Chet Atkins part is excellent though!

In my best Jerry Reed voice. "Son!"
Excellent performance and yeah Jerry would approve 👏 John 5 is a monster 🎸 😎
This is the most American thing I have heard so far today!
damn dude. Jerry n Chet would both be proud.
master-class right here.
I remember the first time I heard chet... I was amazed and I was already into playing guitar.. just furthered my curiosity
This is magic.
John, never expect you to be this versatile. Wow! Got a new respect for you.

Man that guy can play!!
What a musician!!! Best of the best...
John 5 is a great player so many styles makes it look easy so versatile really put the hours in learning and it shows
I was really happy you recorded this. Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed we’re both wonderful people. They are both missed. Thank you for performing this.

Amos Moses! About 45 minute's South East of Thibodaux Louisiana.
So when is John going to be on the CMA Awards show?
Never....outplay them all just about!! Vince Gill and Brad Paisley could keep up!
Que animal
He played Chet Atkins' part better than he did Jerry's. The Jerry part is difficult because of the way Jerry leads with his ring finger.
Yeah. The syncopation was way off here. Richard Smith does the best cover of it besides Jerry Reed himself

Who are your biggest influence and favourite guitar riffs
it's not easy to play Jerry Reed's style

You got that right
@@MOBProduktion No special tuning required. Standard tuning.
Pretty sweet, more bass solos though!
As Jerry would say, Hook It Son!
Snowman would be proud

This was heavily inspired by Brad Paisley's Nervous breakdown. Find the live version, it's fucking ridiculous!
Bojan Tomić this is Jerry's Breakdown by Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins. Way before paisleys time so its the other way around
ha! thanks man, I had no idea, my bad. just checked it out, it's awesome! all 3 are great, so if you don't know paisley's take on it look ti up :)
Bojan Tomić checked it out. Pretty sweet tribute. Added some nice flavor of his own. Never really listened to him much but I knew he was a shredder.
Nervous Breakdown is a Jerry Reed tune to begin with
Doesn’t sound right.
Playing the open E way to much
