Nice to see the job getting done. Not bad work when the weather is OK but no fun when it's frosty and snowy! Had 35 years on track work, hard work but very satisfying when you see the finished job. Thanks for the video, brings back some real good memories.

I could watch someone work forever. Being retired, I can do that. From the looks of the rail before, I would imagine their work will be appreciated by the trains that follow oin the rehab rails.. Great ,video.

I was a track laborer in the summer of ‘77. We had no tools except spike mauls, claw bars, and a track gauge. There were gangs of 30-50 guys to do the work that now maybe 5 or so do now.

I've seen the film of track gangs back in the 30s and 40s so cool to watch.

When I started on the railway in the UK (late 1960s) it was almost always hand tools for the job and big gangs. Needed to be, with concrete sleepers (ties) at 4 to a ton, it was eight men to carry them in! Now it's all machines and relaying gets done very rapidly with very little sweat lost. Different world today but I suspect they don't have half the fun doing the work now as we were always joking around despite the rough conditions. Would do it all again given my time over again. Best job in the world!

Cool video you captured them replacing the track. Curious of what the track was marked they took out. Looks like around 132 RE.

Just out side of town is where they've been putting the old track I'll have to go check it out and see how old some of the track was.

ChainsawN&W1218, some real interesting MOW work, I noticed the worker used a RR spike to open the bucket of RR spikes, many uses 👍🛤!
