If I came across even a legitimately broken Les Paul for $50 I'd jump on it and never look back. That or an old Flying V, I'll fix that shit or pay to get it fixed for less than half of what it is worth. Then I'd cherish her until I kick the bucket.

Exactly if the person is selling something that you know it's worth a lot more, it is not your problem. Only time I would say something is if I knew the person was struggling like an elderly person. Only then would I tell them and if they were nice. It they came across as get off my lawn then screw them.

Several years ago I had a mobility scooter after having reconstructive foot surgery. While shopping in Walmart with my husband I decided to sit and take a break. My husband was looking at stuff nearby when some guy got my attention to tell me some kid was stealing my scooter. He tried to stop the kid as my husband came over and tried to grab ahold of the scooter. Kid screamed, the mom (Queen Karen) came running accusing us of abusing and stealing from her innocent little angel. We told her it was mine and not a toy but she argued that I’m lying and just don’t want to share my toy (yes she called it that) with him and I’m too old for it. A couple employees from the pharmacy saw it and came to help us. They ended threatening to get security (that store had security due to its location) to have her kicked out. I got it back but not with out being heavily insulted and the kid trying to kick my foot that I literally had surgery on 2 days prior. Karen got even more mad when I told her that I hope her crotch goblin turns out exactly like her. My husband, the helpful stranger and employees got a pretty good chuckle out of what I said,

When I got my first wheelchair people would just grab the handles and start pushing me without asking, even though I protested saying please stop i don't need help, I am waiting for someone. It was insane. The more I protested the more they would say "oh it's ok, I don't mind I am happy to help".
I had to resort to putting KY jelly on my wheelchair handles to make people stop touching them and get them to stop and listen to me. I also have a walking stick to get the attention of people who ignore my protests or completely ignore me and stand in way.
I have no problem with people asking if I need help, I really appreciate it as sometimes I do need help. But people who just take it upon themselves to push me, usually in the wrong direction, without even asking if I needed help or asking permission to touch me now get a poke with my stick.

I’ve been in a wheelchair twice in my life. The first time was when I had an infection in my ankle - I was in it for 6 months and graduated to crutches, then sticks. I was then in one temporarily about 15 years ago when I had severe Cellulitis in both my legs. Each time I was in hospital but even kids of patients would ask if they could have a go in my chair and I told them no. Thankfully they listened when I explained why.
I have moved from sticks back to fixed height crutches again now as my health has deteriorated over the years and you wouldn’t believe how many people think it’s ok to pick up my crutches and ‘have a go’ when I’m sat at a bar or in cafe ! The amount of people who have asked if I can make them shorter for them is unbelievable ! When I tell them I can’t, some have even asked me ‘Why not ?’ Because they are made for MY height ?! I’m 6ft 5ins. and around 300 lbs.
Also, my crutches were specially made for me on the NHS and cost a lot of money and I don’t want them getting damaged because I don’t have any spares

I generally use a walker when I'm out. It's actually really nice - very lightweight, electric blue, and has a small padded seat in the front - convenient when I need to take a quick break. I've lost count of how many kids have run over and plopped down on the seat, even as I'm trying to walk. I get that it's cute, and the seat looks kid-sized (I'm a small person), but it's still a medical device! I'm always nice to them, even when I'm startled or hurting, and explain that this is something I need to use in order to walk. The million questions don't bother me - they're curious, I get it (I'm a Grandma). It's when the parents get involved and start making ridiculous, rude demands that I stop being so friendly. Honestly, I hate having to say no to kids - but no, I won't let them sit on my walker while the moms finish shopping. I'm also not going to let it out of my sight, so "taking it for a spin around the store" is not an option. 🙄

The story about the person with a disability, I can relate to them very much. A few years ago I was diagnosed with something called FND when I started having daily seizures to multiple daily seizures. My doc did say there are other symptoms I could develop and there’s no cure. About a year ago I started developing these twitches in my hands and feet (specifically my fingers and toes) and now have very noticeable motor and vocal tics. I was devastated to find this out because of all the crap people who have this or Tourette’s are being subjected to. My husband convinced me to go grocery shopping with him and as we were shopping I was noticeably ticking and saw some grown man laughing and filming me. Before I could control it I did start crying a bit (I’m insanely self conscious, especially now). About 5 or 10 min later the same guy who was filming me came up to me with a Walmart employee and another shopper. The other shopper saw what previously happened and grabbed an employee to confront the guy. The guy apologized and deleted the video. Turns out the customer had a really close friend with Tourette’s but sadly took t1heir own life due to bullying. He didn’t like seeing me cry. Before anyone asks about my husband, he was there and grateful for the guy stepping up. He didn’t say anything to the guy coz I asked him not to and he’s so supportive.

Have you tried using food grade diatomaceous earth? Look it up. It may help. It detoxes you. Be sure, if you use it, to also take in a lot of fluids and healthy oils (organic grapeseed, avocado, olive, etc). Stay away from sugar, and junk food. Try to only eat whole foods (plenty of books on Amazon), and maybe some microgreens? Maybe add some spicy foods to your diet, if possible, to help with inflammation. Turmeric with black pepper is also great for inflammation and infection.

That really sucks. I have been around mental and physical disabilities all my life and it seems like the acceptance people cry about do not include disabilities.
I have noticed that their entitlement often lies in two camps; either treating others as an inferior that needs to stay away with mochary (as in your story) or distain, or as a person in need of salvation which often time belittles the person's abilities (like talking slow cause one has a limp or is blind) or shows up in possible cures that others might do (in your case, telling your husband he should be more comforting for some odd reason). It sucks.
However, like the customer who knew someone with Tourette's, there is a level of understanding that people can gain through exposure, so it is possible to build a network of friends who help you feel accepted and understood. Keep in there.

Like enemies would be approaching you and they had a word stamped on them, and if you type that word the monster is killed. So the more words you can type accurately the longer you can survive in the game, meaning a high score direclty translates to skilled typing. Guitar Hero doesn't use an actual guitar of course, so it's not the same there, but to someone who has never played the game I can understand how they might equate a high Guitar Hero score to an actual ability to play guitar.

That fake leg story reminded me of something that happened with my son. My husband was in the military and I often had to bring my son to the military hospital because of a birth injury. He was now about four years old and we were walking down the hospital corridor when a young soldier came around the corner. The man was a bilateral below the knee amputee. He was wearing shorts so his prosthesis legs were fully visible. My son says VERY LOUDLY, "Mom! Look!" The young man looked up and I know I must have had an expression of horror as I waited for my son's next words. "It's a war hero!" The man smiled and I was relieved. Oh my golly this has got to be the CRAZIEST video yet!! I’m still baffled that the mother thought that she could get the guitar back for free! Not even paying back the money or buying it back for the original price! Thank goodness that she doesn’t know OP or that could probably end in court or something!!

"She gaslit me into giving her a key" You know how parents will take a toy away from a misbehaving kid and put it up on a high shelf? I think we need to do that with the word gaslight until people learn the correct definition.

I just wish people would use the word "deceived" even in contexts where "gaslit" would have been accurate, since the term itself is silly to me.

Story #2 -- I gave my parents a spare key to my apartment because I was a 22-year-old woman living alone in a fair-ish sized city where I had a few work acquaintances and knew none of my neighbors. I agreed that, for emergencies, someone needed to have a key. To their credit, they never snooped. My mother used the key one time, when she and a friend had gotten tied up in Christmas shopping traffic and desperately needed a bathroom. I'm quite sure they never snooped, because I have a reliable visual memory and more than a touch of OCD, so I would have noticed if anything had ever been rummaged through.

Story 2...No, DO NOT, under any circumstances, give your mother your key. But if it's already a done deal, get your locks changed immediately. Your mother is the queen of entitlement and things will only get worse for you. Furthermore, you should get a restraining order and cameras put up in and around your place. I know it will be difficult, and your mom will lay guilt trips galore on you, but stay strong. Your sanity depends on it!

Jun Bun A month ago, I was stansing in the checkout line at a grocery store. My medical service dog, an 8 lb. Maltese, was in her purse-like bag, nestled against my side as I leaned on my cart.
A woman deliberately rammed her cart into me, causing the hidden dog to cry out in pain. Startled, she APOLOGIZED for hurting the dog, but was happy she'd hit ME.

Story 1: I did a face palm on that one. Maybe I have a different perspective because I grew up in the days before home video, but I was always taught to go to the bathroom before the movie started. If I had to go during the movie, I'd have to miss whatever happened while I was gone.
Story 2: No, you shouldn't give your mother the keys to your apartment. Grown children have rights, and if you don't want to give your parents free access to your home, that's entirely your business.
Story 3: If I had messed with a disabled person's medical device, my parents would have given me a temporary disability. I wouldn't have been able to sit down for a while!

Omg. Story 3 is how I feel all the time. I have a limp too, and have had people come up to pray for me (I hate it beyond belief), I've had people ask me what's wrong with me, etc. I'm a cancer survivor with a lot of side effects from the surgeries and treatments and I also have chronic pain, so I have so much sympathy for them. Also, when I was growing up, I've had kids think my wheelchair was a toy and wanted to use it for fun. These things aren't toys, they are necessary for us to live our lives.🤷‍♀️

Second story: OP should make sure to tell building, management, security, and maintenance that your mother is to not have access to your condo or even the building. Leave a set of decoy keys out for your mother to steal when she visits.
Third story: "What happened? I asked a total stranger a personal question. Snap, Crunch, and here I am!"
Last story: Forcing your way into someone's house in Texas is a good way of becoming a part of a future flower bed.
