For the zeros to maximize the range you have to accelerate slow. I get about 75 miles on the highway. Streets I get about 145 miles before I need to charge
I find myself waiting for your daily videos during this confining season. Thanks for creating something interesting to watch 5X a week. I’m looking forward to hearing about your next ride.
Love the video, glad that you had time for your recovery an still get to show us this interesting new tech in every day scenarios! Have yet to see one of these bikes in the wild, but I have started looking for and being aware of the chargers because of your vids!
I picked mine up last week. It came with SW-Motech Trax Aluminum luggage (which I preferred) and without the spotlights and headlamp protector (which may be a homologation issue). They were in the middle of a web-site upgrade, the 'old' site had the Euro version pic's (this looks like a Euro version test ride M/C) and a mouth-watering $8K price drop on the build it section, now fixed :O I'm very happy with mine :)
This Bike would be great for a Rancher to go out and check cows or move Irrigation.. It would be great for any City person commuting..in the City Long distance trips would be a pain ..
I wish they'd make a no friction re-gen system for them. Continuous feed alternators on each wheel or something to always recharge while moving. Even a few small wind turbines in the fairing...anything.
@@steveburgess4219 Kind of...yeah...It would still drain a bit from the starts until you hit a certain speed. Mine has no re-gen at all... I wish it did. They do sell a disk for a small return charge, but I have no idea how much it helps.
Scooter is so worth it I know you know this also . Keep riding still waiting for triumph stuff on ya channel maybe when I come to camp with yall you can ride mine .
Ain't ready for prime time. There is still a long way to go before they get them to go as far as gas bikes. Got no beef with electric bikes but they are still toys in my mind.
Ive been following Zero since they got started. As much as I love my vulcan and buell, Any zero has been my dream. I may have to build my own DIY since Ill never be able to buy one.
That is probably the most important planning part of the electric bike---how far it will take you and where do you need to stop and plug in. The charging website would be very useful for that. I saw when the Livewire was at Frazier's HD and took my test ride that they had a little infor station set up with a screen showing different aspects and one of the pages was the charging station locations. 😎😎
I like the electric bike concept, actually it would work for a lot of the less than 100 mile days I do going around my county and seeing friends and grabbing lunch. At my age I can not ride with my legs in that position. Now if zero bike would build a feet forward bagger with either shield or fairing and bags and price it OK, I could see myself on one. It would not have to be as big and heavy as my Victory Cross Country, indeed something small like my Honda Magna would be fine.
Hopefully it just gets better and better as we go along. It might take 2 hours now to charge but in the near future that should drop while hopefully we get a boost in mileage.
So you can ride all day if its rush hour like stop and go traffic but if you want to go to a town the next county over and back...youre S.O.L. unless you have 4 hours spare time to charge it for the trip back?
EV's are the perfect force multiplier for the individualist. YOU can create your own energy. Solar panels can be had today for LESS than 50 cents per watt! And those panels last 25+ years. You can't do that with a petrol Vehicle. In the future I predict GOVERNMENT will OUTLAW energy self-sufficiency. They never like to give up power (no pun intended).
If you ride over 55 MPH your range will go way down .. on My Yamaha FZ-07 the mpg read out . Yamaha claims 58 MPG at 75 MPH it's more like 42 MPG at 100 MPH is more like 28 MPG March 16th I saw gasoline for $1.64 per gallon in Michigan .. You could buy a gasoline powered Honda or Yamaha Generator ..
good video, but when you mention the range, its not like 1 number TO the other YOU SAY ITS BETWEEN, but, if u look above, thats only the number range for power tank models, is a either or even compatible with charge tank models, which is the only practical useful version, or u have a min of 12 hours of ac outlet charging with 18 kw of juice, instead of having the 14.4 kw battery and being able to charge using a j 1772 at 240 volt 26 amp and then it can charge in 2 hours.
and getting to the end of the video its not 90 miles combined unless u have the power tank option. AND YOU CLEARLY HAVE THE CHARGE TANK MODEL, so its ONLY THE FIRST RANGE YOUA SHOULD COMPARE TOO. and without gears, its best range is in the city anywhere as a city commuter i get 120 miles out of mine 2020 zero dsr
It will cover me for the riding I do. The increased range at slower speed is because it's only got one gear, just imagine running a petrol bike in first you'd find the same thing
@@Tazdeviloo7 Wind resistance is the same on both ICE and EV bikes, but ICE bikes have a gearbox which reduces the required revs for a given speed, and so energy required for a given distance
When they measure the distance I'm sure they have someone really lightweight ride the bike as well like someone weighing max 60kg (130 pounds), and no wind.
Adam, early in this post you use a miles per gallon reference. I'm just wondering if it should have been a miles per tank comparison? Glad you made it home...
Electric bikes and cars are for local trips city driving more or less they are not reliable as far as distance for any kind of long distance. I am not saying electric bikes and cars are bad they have their place on the road if you want an electric vehicle for distance driving you need to go to a Hydrogen vehicle or stick to Petrol
CORRECTION: The regenerative braking hardly does anything. The reason you can drive so many MORE miles in the city is because you are going slower. The increase in speed requires more and more energy for each MPH increased. The energy consumed is parabolic with respect to speed. If you drive slow you have less drag, less resistance to wind, thus more range.
60 miles... man, I'd just be getting started and it would be over. 45 minutes of riding with 2hr of charging in between. It's a novelty, not a MC. Cool enough, but it's not ready for me. Too much sitting around watching water boil/paint dry.
LOL Luggage really Lol someone going to go on a long trip on a electric bike. Well you might need something after waiting & waiting to charge the battery back to full charge. 63 miles isn’t very fair from the house, we ride further then that. I will keep my gas bike
@@schadowization wow pretty cool thanks for telling me to do that. What does that have to do with the destruction of the land from mining lithium and desposing of that poison?

Good fun, low low maintenance costs, cheapest possible "fuel" costs, free road tax (in the UK), and it's something different. Personally I love my SR, may never own an ICE bike again.
This bike is not for me. Brand new and you cannot make the 100 miles. What happens as the battery ages? Like you cell phone, they lose the length of time. And it doesn't make a noise. Let me think.... You go 100 miles and can gas up in 5 minutes. No thank you.
You dumped the Indian Challenger to be true to your Harley roots. Now you do a non-Harley electric stint. Im finding it difficult to follow your business logic/ethics. Your motorcycle culture approach is too varied, and now complicated. I've watched you for the rides, and the simpler times, cheese. Now days you seem to be one big commercial. Im out, cant watch anymore. Take the dark glasses off, maybe clarity will return.
Great video brother. All of your videos are straight up and non-bias. Appreciate you for that 100%

Not bad for a beard trimmer with wheels! 😂 another great video Adam. Keep up the good work 🤘🏼
Nice supply of dos xx in the shop I see
You really need to calculate and know when you're going to charge up. Thanks, Adam, for your test drive results.
Always do your top speed pulls with full battery and in custom mode with all tq and top speed cranked up.

Adam,The Zero is a cool Motorcycle. Have you rode the Livewire? Would be nice to see a head to head test by you.
Sounds like a bike to strap to an RV for quick shopping trips and for around the neighborhood. That's it.

Teslas have over 300 miles of range that is plenty for a long trip. In five years the range problems will be fixed.
I would have never made it to K-River campground, with that range. Would have taken me 2 1/2 days to
