My all time fav series .. loved cheers and when I am tired of the world I always return to to take me back to a time when life was simpler .. and funnier)
Awesome show, one of the best ever. That said, the real chemistry amongst the cast came with the later series. That's when Cheers went from strength to strength.
So interested in your opinion, Bryan. I watched Cheers religiously during the Sam/Diane years and only periodically afterwards. When I did, I recall it to still have been funny with the characters being as clearly defined as they were when they first "entered the bar." But I so miss seeing a three-dimensional Sam. He fell in love with Diane as she did with him. The fun of seeing them try to accommodate each other's basic natures was the hook for me. Poor Sam struggling to satisfy Diane's mind and Diane trying to be attractive to Sam in a way the "400 women" before her could not. Going to give Seasons 6-11 another go as a cable channel plays two episodes back-to-back every night. Just curious why you thought Cheers gained steam as the years went on.
It’s the same with most of the characters and it’s why this show still holds up especially compared to modern later comedies like the Office Not a lot of what these characters say or do is offensive because a lot of it is just words and these characters are actually decent people Like Sam being seen as womaniser when he is actually a very loving person Or Norm being misogynistic at the bar whereas he really loves his wife
I agree with the Pernell Roberts leaving Bonanza observation but not with Shelly Long leaving Cheers for the simple fact that they played that story between the characters of Sam and Diane as far as it would go. Hell Diane was going with the Frasier Crane character and was about to get married to him until Sam intervened. They only had three choices....continue with the conflict of Sam and Diane wanting each other but not really fitting together and that had played itself out and could not continue forever without the story line just getting preposterous or have Sam and Diane actually marry and that would never work because then you would change the whole concept about what Cheers was all about....their only solution was to have the Diane character leave.
The sam n Diane Story took over much of the show the only way for cheers to truly grow and to survive as they have Diane leave unfortunately because she's a great actress
@@davidmorrison2069Great analysis. Shelley was also in her late 30's by '87 and the window was closing for her to be a lead actress in romantic comedies.
Watching this again makes me realize how incompatible they are. Yes they have chemistry and attraction, but they would seriously drive each other crazy and wanted different things. Good thing they split up, but amazing tv couple to watch
Go good things and votners and pretzels and Jay's. And go Orville and microwave popcorn... And a desks. And top number ones... Go A machines and data and Library s
Best show ever!!! The chemistry of the actors and the writing will make people laugh for centuries. It is timeless!!!
It was good until Norm started stealing beer from Sam and Carla conned the other waitress out of her tips.
Thanks for the memories of 1980s the best show ever. 🇵🇹😍😍🥃
2:27 "idk...4 Hun... Uugghhh!..... For honey's!"

Ted was great in this role
Best show
I kinda like Sam’s character. A chauvinist on the outside, but deep down, a really good guy. That’s why every likes him.
Yep

Some of Ted Danson’s best acting have been in season 1.
Oh my gosh this couple hahahaha
I feel like having interactions that Sam had with Diane would make life worth living.
Diane Chambers has one of the most beautiful smiles.
I think in the 2nd bit with Sam & Diane in the office, they set a record for the most people by a door!!!

Sam and Diane forever.
0:30 so true about today
Shelly Long made as big a mistake leaving Cheers as Pernell Roberts did leaving Bonanza .
