I never really thought about the fact that Super Circuit's Bowser Castle had such rocking vibes to it. Almost makes me want to see it come back in 8 just for the remix. Almost.
Man, rewatching this, I was never able to hear the whole song as a child, my game boy couldn’t register the frequencies. This song was sooooooo much more kick ass then I remember.
It is impressive that the PSG waveform with a stronger release is overlaid on the electric guitar sample to create a unique reverb feel. The BGM has a hard rock style, which was rare for Nintendo's game music at the time, and it would not be out of place if played as BGM for DOOM.
So do you think Nintendo ever used any synths in the Yamaha DX or MODX series for the soundtracks of any of their games? I know there’s the famous electric piano in “Super Mario 64”, but it could have also been done with a Korg M1 or Roland D50.
ive only heard the remixed versions before so im truky appreciating the mixing and matching of what channels play which to make this slap as much as it does with the 0 sound hardware lol
I did a Turbografx 16 remix. Haven't uploaded on UA-cam, though. Sounds good, though. Try using Deflemask. MonsterLead can be good for Channels 1 and 2.
That sound effect is also present in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. This is because most composers used common Roland sound libraries when creating game soundfonts for GBA, and each only ever added very few (if any) samples actually unique enough to set them apart from each other. This isn't a knock against composers, just that the GBA's sound capabilities were notoriously limited even for its time and as such, creating entirely new soundfonts for GBA was more of a risk than it was for the SNES/N64 before it or the DS after it. It lacked a dedicated sound processor, thus sound/music used up precious CPU cycles like on the NES and Game Boy/Game Boy Color. The DS also lacked a dedicated sound processor, but sound/music didn't tax its CPU nearly as much. The only GBA games I owned that I remember actually rising far beyond the rest with a totally different sound than most games were Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Golden Sun, and all the Sonic Advance games as well as Sonic Battle.
@@TurboPikachu This has nothing to do with the gba limitations, the Roland SC-88 was famous in japan, that's why it was used so much. There's no "default" sound library for gba. Mother 3's samples of the SC-88 are of higher quality than this game's samples, so it doesn't use any default library.
This does sound pretty rad, but it probably would have sounded better if the GBA had more RAM. I'm sure the sound on the GBA was done through software, and not partially with hardware, like the original Gameboy/Color. And I think it used a PWM DAC instead of a real one.

Channel 0: Electric Guitar and Strings
Channel 1: Electric Guitar (itself)
Channel 2: Electric Bass
Channel 3 and 4: Square Wave
Channel 5: Drums
Bowser decided to go with the electric guitar for his castle theme...
After the creepy choir from before tho?
Hey, I'm still all for it.
I mean, it's not often you get to rock out in a mario game, so why not?
SNES - Compressed Guitar
N64 - Choir
GBA - Electric Guitar
GCN - Dark Ambience
DS - Don't remember
Wii - Barely remember
3DS - Don't remember
WiiU - Electric Guitar

I remember Mario Circuit and Rainbow Road. This game has the least memorable tracks. Music is still great, though.
Probably because there were like four Bowser Castle race tracks in the game lol

If it had more memory, it could sound similar to Wii Bowser Castle 3, only bit-crushed.
I think the limits of the GBA are what gives it this great character
good but crunchy
Gonna say that out of everything out of the godly soundtracks the gba has, I want nonaggression from sonic advance 3 and Departure from Megaman Zero 2

Hi Carphathia 808 Can You Deconstruct The Music BIOS Of Sega CD (US) Model 1 Because It's Doable!!
Honestly all of the BIOS themes are very cool. I bet someone's probably dumped VGM for them already.
I’m under the strong impression Bowser is a huge Doom fan
Imagine these soundfonts on the rainbow road track from this game btw
the bass and drums sounds like Splatoon.
I thought the gba only had two channels that can play samples while the rest could only make Gameboy noises.
Chanel 1 is my favorite
How about that 7th boss theme from Sonic Advance 3 next?
how you deconstruted gba songs?
