- We are on the water in Beaufort videoing our journey to retrieve a boat floater that we need to move from Lady's Island to St. Helena Island Beaufort SC. When I decide to abort our mission and try running from a storm, we end up getting caught in a terrible storm. #storm #boating #wildlife

Thank you Jesus for keeping Salty Reflections safe and sound. 🥰
Amen! Thank you.
WOW! This was an exciting video. You share alot of info that helps to understand your predictments. Great boating. So happy you are safe. I live your adventures! 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it! We didn't. LOL! Thanks for your concern.
I thank God for keeping yall safe
We appreciate that.
So pleased you are both safe and sound.
Thanks!
So glad you made it home safely. I remember getting caught in storms back in MICHIGAN scary stuff. Keep on truckin ✌
Thank you, I will do my best for you all.
Weather is unpredictable no matter where you are and doesn't matter if you checked it right before you left the house..Mother Nature and God will do what they want when they want!! Great video and I'm glad ya'll made it back safely ❤
Thank you! I think you're absolutely 💯 right. I'm so thankful we're ok.
So thankful ya`ll are safe!!! We have been caught in popup summer storms on the Tennessee River in NW Alabama, with our family onboard, and it is terrifing! No matter how closely you watch the weather reports, in the summer, a storm can popup out of no where, and lightening on the water is down right dangerous!!! Please stay safe!!!
I hate to hear you've been caught on the water in a storm too, but it happens if you're out on the water enough. We'll do our best to stay safe. Stay safe and thanks for watching. I was very scared.
My goodness when my heart gets out o& my stomach I’ll be watching that again!
It was a wild ride. I wish we would have been able to film through the worst of it, so our Saltaholics could have really seen how bad it was. 😬😵⛈️🌊
I would head to the shore, tie up the boat & call Uber!📞🚙
Glad you'll made it back safe.
What you showed the scenery was so pretty. I love the moss hanging on the trees.
Nature sure is mystifying! Gorgeous one minute & scary the next! Thanks for joining us for a wild boat ride!
WOW, NOW YOU DON'T WANT TO GET CAUGHT OUT IN THAT, BEEN OUT IN A STORM IN THE BOAT A FEW TIMES, NO FUN BUT HAVE TO DO THE BEST YOU CAN, HAD TO ANCHOR AT AN ISLAND AND WAIT FOR IT TO FASS... GLAD YOU GUYS MADE IT BACK SAFE AND SOUND
Thanks! We sure are thankful we made it through that storm.
This is scary !!! I’m so so glad you’re Okay.
Thank you! I was very scared.
You made the right decision turn around...glad you guys got back safe🤙!
Thanks! I wish I would've made that decision a little sooner. I hate I put Steph and I in this situation. It was scary.
Praise The Lord you’re both safe!!! I was stressed just watching the video!!❤️😊
Thanks so much! It was so stressful, at one point I thought it was over for us. I've never been in winds like we were in. Maybe being on the water with this situation made it feel like that to me.
Mother Nature is undefeated! Always another day to succeed. Poor decisions on the water can be fatal. Captains call is watchword.
For sure!
Good video
Thanks!
I've spent many of days on lake Cumberland here in Kentucky it is a thousand miles shoreline it's pretty big but nothing like what you got, and it can get rough quick you know you did the right thing,
We're just glad we made it home safely.
Wow! Happy you guys got back safely! I've been out on a big lake with a 16 ft/25hp motor and it can really be scary when weather comes up. Some storms just pop up fast whether you've checked the weather report or not. ❤️
Thanks Ginger! There were three or more storms around us that came out of nowhere. Once we saw the storms in the distance, we pulled the radar up on our phones to take a look. Too late, we couldn't outrun them. It was scary. I don't ever want to put Steph and I in danger, but I guess I did today. It was scary and all I could do is deal with the situation the best I could. Stay safe.
you never know what can happen in the summer months and those storms can pop up out of no where sometimes and move amazingly fast. I've had to beach a boat and hop on land to seek shelter before. Stuff happens. Glad you made it home safely. THAT is the most important thing.
I thought we were going to get pushed by the wind into the marsh. It was so scary! Thanks for your concern about us.
What is the ramp yall use close to Jenkins creek? I have fished dawtaw island. I enjoy staying at st helena
Eddings Point Boat Landing
Getting caught in a Storm is most boaters big fears of things that can come up on you on the water. You guys stay safe and healthy. Wishing you all the best at Salty Reflections. So glad you guys got back safe. That wind sure changed from one minute to the next. 🏖🐚🎥💯👍🙏🏻
This is the second big storm we've been caught in while out on the water. One was too many. Thank God, we made it back safely. Take care buddy.
Looks really scary! Storms pop up suddenly. Mother Nature is stirring things up today.
We could see this one coming, but we couldn't outrun it. Thankfully we made it back safe.
I really like your videos , I always enjoy watching them Thank you for sharing them with us . May God bless you and always keep you safe .🐚🥰
Thanks so much
What you think that devil was on the Beaufort scale. Had got in some swells in Charleston North Edisto River a year back and I had to call on the name of Jesus Christ to get us three that! I’m sure his Apostles were shaking with no faith at that time he was resting crossing the water!
I was praying the whole time.
I just love your adventures! My uncle built a pontoon with metal drums and rails. He almost got us struck on Lake Lanier! No more metal hulls on the lake now. They have ospreys in Savannah too!
Praying the whole time! Thank the good Lord you made it back safe. Don't do that again!. Be safe and healthy. That was to close for me.
🤗
Man! You guys were moving out! Pops and I got stuck in a storm in Moon inlet on Pritchards Island many years ago and boy that was somethin else! We were pulverized by golfball hail lightning and cold, cold rain. Scary then but made for good memories! Glad ya'll are safe. Take care and thanks!
When you're on the water enough you're going to get caught in a storm. Thankfully we haven't been in one with hail. Moments like these are unforgettable. I was scared for our lives.
I. Would. Have. Stay. At. One. Them. Docks. On. Land
We should have. We thought we could outrun it and we were wrong. No docks to run to when we turned the last corner towards the storm.
Like in the movie "Jaws " , you gonna need a bigger boat! Ya'll stay safe, we Luv ya'll!!
LOL! Maybe one day we'll have one of them big boats like the BEE HAVEN in this video. Right now, I don't think we could afford the fuel it takes to run it. We love all of you too.
Scariest thing ever is to get caught in a storm on the water. Glad yall are safe. Thank goodness no little ones were on the boat! Ok waiting for part 2, lol. Have a good rest of the day!
Thank you! LOL! I hope this floater is worth all of our troubles. And we have been caught in another storm a couple of years ago with the babies. It was a terrifying experience too.
Years ago I went out with my grandpa in his net boat. We used to do that a lot but this time a thunderstorm popped up on us. I was terrified and grandpa made me crawl under the bow of the boat. That wind and rain was fierce and the lightning was really bad.
This happened to us just a few hours ago. I hope everyone made it off the water safely. There were plenty of boats out there. Stay safe.
Life jacket ? That was scary.
We had our life jackets in the boat, but we didn't even think about putting them on. Thanks for the reminder. We should've put them on.
That was a fun trip!! Thanks!!
It wasn't fun for us.
Scary to be caught in a storm!
That's for sure.
Stay safe and head for home!!
We made it.
Wow, that storm came up fast out of nowhere...thank God you have arrived home safe and sound.
Amen! It was a bad one.
Liked the boatride!
Thanks!
Be safe out there
If you're out on the water as much as we are you're bound to get caught in a storm. This was a terrible experience.
Man nothing gets you're attention like being on the water in a thunderstorm glad y'all made it back safe.relly enjoy your videos 😊
Thanks! 👍 We're thankful!
I must say, this puts a whole new spin on storm chasing! Stay safe out there! Bad storms, especially in the afternoon when it heats up!!! 😎🌴🐙
Thank you! We saw at least 3 pop up within 30 min. We couldn't outrun this one.
Praise the Lord I'm glad you made it back home safely brother you guys don't worry about what other people think about you not checking the weather you and I both know you can check the weather and it'll say it's no chance of storms or rain and then all the sudden the storms come from the Hilton Head and Port Royal Direction straight up the line headed your way at a moment's notice sometimes those Thunder burst storms just appear out of nowhere. And for anyone who would say you're crazy for not checking the weather they just don't know anything about living in the Lowcountry God bless you and sister Stephanie I'm glad y'all are okay I can't wait to see the next video because I know it's going to be some good scenery from the Midlands of South Carolina brother we will be watching
Thanks brother! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. When I first saw the storm, I was thinking I should've checked the weather. Usually when we see a storm coming, we're able to outrun it but not this time. We were in a really bad situation there for 2 or 3 min. That was the part were no video would have been worth what we were going through. All I can say is, I was scared and praying. Stay safe and tell everyone we're ok.
Beautiful Beaufort By The Sea 😎
It really is!
@@SaltyReflections I agree! I've visited before. Lot's to do and see!
getting caught in the middle of a storm on the water is no joke can be very scary, glad to see you guys made it back safe and sound. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks! I was scared.
I'm 53 years old and I've been around water my entire life!! When you're on the water the weather is very unpredictable. You can check the weather yes but it can change on a dime. I've gotten caught many times in a storm on the water and they're not fun. LOL! Glad yall made it back to the house safe. Love watching your videos! God Bless from Florence SC!
Thanks for watching in Florence, SC. That was the scariest boat ride we've experienced. I hope we never get caught in another storm like that.
I have had to run from storms in my boat and on my motorcycle so I know what it's like. Weather can change quickly. Have to pay attention to the skies.
Yes, you're right. We could see this storm coming our way, but we had a long distance to travel. We were about two miles from our house when it caught up to us. The 25 hp Yamaha could barely keep our boat and us moving forward. Scary!
OMG I love your show you and your wife have a great spiritual relationship anyway I want you to take me I am in Beaufort South Carolina now I would be so excited I’ve always wanted to do it ends I’d be super happy to go with you guys and I want to shell too please yes I’d like to buy some Mitch⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥🔥♥️🥰🙏♥️
❤️. I'm sorry to tell you that we are not licensed to carry anyone on charters. We're terrified of the thought of something going wrong and someone getting hurt or killed while out oh the water with us with no insurance to cover situations that can come up. I hope you understand. We'll do our best to keep taking you on virtual adventures though.
Oliver,. You got you both back home safely, we all know the hindsight saying. It's all good! lesson learned. Glad God had his watching hands over you all. Can't wait for part two.
Thanks! I definitely learned a lesson.
From what I have seen on the news.
Summer = pop up storms.
You never know. Happy Oliver and Stephanie made it home safely. I cannot imagine how scary that was. Blessings to your family. God was watching out for y’all. 🙏🏼
Thank you!
That was terrifying and glad you two are okay. My husband and I got caught in a storm on a large lake but on a bigger boat, like the one I usually see you using. The lightning and wind was so scary. When ended up being soaked and wind-blown, but okay. When we got back to the marina, we found straight line winds from the storm had toppled a tree and thrown a bunch of deck and dock equipment/furniture/coolers/trash into the cove. We spent a good hour helping clean up the water.
Your experience sounds terrifying top. Anyone can get caught in a storm. Thank you for helping to clean up the mess!
Holy storm clouds Batman!!!!!!! Glad you made it home safely
Yes, we did Robin. LOL! We did make it home safely and we're so thankful.
Been in that area of Jenkins creek and Dataw Island many times in the past and love it in that area. Got caught one time in a storm at Brickyard point and thought I would never see dry land again, so it is a scary feeling in even a 18 ft boat. Beautiful filming of the area. Ya'll stay safe and continue having fun !!!
Thanks! Being caught in a sorm on the water is terrible, right. We were in between Sam's Point and Brickyard when we started running. If we would've been in a faster boat, I'd say we would have skimmed by it. We got caught and it was very scary.
I would have aborted the mission too! Your safety is more important when you can get the floater another day. So scary! So happy you made it home safely! Love you both 💓 💗 😘
Thanks! Things go wrong and all we can do is deal with them.
Just so very glad you are both ok! If someone with your time on the water was scared that speaks volumes about how bad it really was. Storms move FAST across water.
Yes ma'am! We don't won't to experience it again that's for sure! 😬
Glad you two made it safe back in....good boating getting out of that storm!!!!!
Thanks so much! We were scared for our lives. We're thankful we made it through the storm.
Glad you all got back safely. We got caught one time on a lake and it was lightning and we had one of our grandkids with us and it was scary. God is good..all the time 🙏
Thank you! Amen, God is good. Stay safe.
I definitely would’ve aborted the mission!😎
Thanks for following along and thanks for your opinion.!
I'm so thankful you guys made it home safe the Lord is good thank you for the video
Amen! Thank you for the comment and watching.
Oliver did you have a shirt on with a Ferris wheel? I live in the town in IL that make Ferris Wheels.
Thanks for watching in Illinois! The shirt was one of the Annual Water Festival shirts from our area. The Ferris wheel looking design was a captain's wheel.
I thank you all so much. These videos are heavenly!!!
Glad you like them!
God is so good and merciful! Thank you Father for the safe return home
Yes! Thank you!
So scary to saw those dark clouds.
Luckily you all are safely reached home dears
Thanks!
How scary. So glad you made it back safe and sound.
Thanks. We're glad we made it through the storm, too.
Yea out there on that big water in a canoe with big storm I'll pass
LOL! Glad we were in a self-bailing boat.
Omigosh, It's like it's following y'all. Thank u Jesus for keeping y'all safe!!
Absolutely! 🙌
This was a very scary day for me. When we were in the worst part of the storm, the 25 hp motor could barely move the skiff against the head winds.
Oh my goodness that is scary I’m so nervous for you two be safe
Thank you! Luckily, we made it back safe. It was scary!
Been there done that. So glad you both made it back safe.
Thank you! If you're out on the water, enough you're going to get caught in a storm. It sucks!
Sooooo thankful you 2 made it home safely!!!
Thank you so much! We're glad we made it back safe too.
wow, that was wild , id been freakin out ,lol
We were scared. Being in a storm in a small boat on the water ain't no fun.
Lightening is what terrifies me, in a boat!
Me too. I thought we were about to be in a water funnel. That's how bad the wind got. Our little 25hp Yamaha didn't want to push us through. Thank God, we made it back safely.
Beautiful scenery.
Thanks for sharing.
Looks like rain to me.
Be careful. Make it home safe. Omg looks like a doozie.
Stay safe.
It was a heck of a lot more than rain. Videoing the worst part never crossed my mind. There ain't no video worth loosing our lives over.
You got that righr. Thank goodness bothing bad happened love you 2 fuys
Stay safe.
So glad you are safe! Scary storm for sure!
Thank you!
Scary ride! Stay safe guys!
We're going to try our best. Thanks. Take care.
U all stay safe my friend 😮
Thank you
Wow!!! Glad you all are ok! ❤️
Thank you! We are safe now and thankful.
Glad you both made it safe
Thanks!
We call those "Pop Up's" where I'm from. One minute it's a beautiful day, the next all heck breaks loose. I was in a tornado once, and it wasn't even supposed to rain that day. It can happen any where at any time. I'm relieved that you both made it back ok, and you're safe 🙏.
Thank you! As you could see in the video I wasn't even trying to video the worst part of our experience. I was thinking we we're close to a water spot or tornado too. There's no video worth loosing our lives over. I saw at least 3 storms that popped up but I couldn't outrun them this time. It was very scary. I'm thankful we're ok too. Stay safe! Things happen the we can't explain.
@@SaltyReflections 🙏🙏🙏💖❤
Glad ya'll home safely 🙏
God was looking out for us, for sure. I was praying we made it.
Summer storms can be extremely dangerous. I always have backup plans for safe harbor at any point in the trip. Your mobile phone and doppler radar are your best tools on a small boat without radar. In my opinion you got lucky today and should have hunkered down and waited the storm out. Most people think that lightning is the biggest killer on the water with summer storms but it's actually straight line winds. They hit so fast and hard that there's no getting ready for them. They can flip much larger boats faster than u can put on a life vest. Be safe
You're right about all of that. Once we saw the storms pop up, we immediately started tracking there movement with our phone app NOAA Weather Radar. We really didn't have a direction to go on the water to avoid them. If I would've known we were going to get hit by it on the water, my actions would've been different. I would have ran to the dock back at Sam's Point and dealt with the storm there. We never know if we could go back and change things in life where we'd be now.
Live and learn is what my Dad always said. We were in a 23 Parker one summer night after dark, coming back from a restaurant off the Chesapeake. Nothing in the forecast or on the marine radio indicated / forewarned us what was coming. We were under power, seas flat calm, running at about 20 knots less than a mile from the dock. We ran into the face of a straight line wind, fortunately it was head on. Lasted less than 10 seconds. At first I thought it was a motor issue because we almost came to a complete stop, the wind was so strong. No radar on the boat, and this was before cell phones. Found out the next day multiple capsized boats and several drownings from this anomaly. There was no thunder or lightening, weather service said it was a cold front that created the wind. Love your channel, stay safe.
We’ve been caught by a storm on the water in FL. A shelf cloud caught us on a chartered boat off Honeymoon Key and everyone was scared. It happens. I hope you go again another day. 😁
The only way I'll stop going out on the water is when I can't anymore. I understand things happen. This was my first time ever going through winds like this on the water. I'm thankful we're ok.
@@SaltyReflections absolutely! It’s best to be cautious. Like you said, next time you will check the weather more carefully. You learned a valuable lesson as a result of your experience. That’s life! Stay safe Oliver and Stephanie ❤️
Where can we get new shirt
We haven't come up with a way of making many of the new shirts yet. Sorry. We might give a few away on the channel. Let me see what we can come up with.
Boat the heck out of there!😮
😬⛈️🙆🏼♀️
retreat retreat!!!
We couldn't outrun this storm.
storms are so freaky on the water. Thankful you made it back safely and can clearly see the concern and relief on your face. God truly looked after you.
Amen! That's for sure. Trust me I was praying. I thought this was going to be the end for us. It felt like we were in a tornado. God is good and I'm thankful!

😰 what a ride!
It was terrible ride!
Pray!
Appreciate it! 🙏
Great video!. That's what those storms are like
Thanks for joining us for the adventure!
@@SaltyReflections Thank You. As to you adventure on Hunting Island. I used to go there, found a lot of shells. You guys call a shell a shark's eye. I only know it as cat's eye.
I loved the whistle at about 2:40 to 2:42. 🤣🤣🤣
LOL! Well timed ... squeaky seat as I swiveled around. 🤣
@@SaltyReflections ROFL, You had me going there. I thought that is was a real whistle.😂
Best decision to abort the mission, safety first!!
I agree. I'd rather be safe than finish what we started. This storm scared the crap out of me. Thanks for watching!
@@SaltyReflections I can tell. I need to see more crabbing videos & Shelling videos. I need ya'll to stay safe
