    In today's tutorial, I want to show you how to knit a yarn over (yo). This is the easiest knitting increase and with it you can create beautiful eyelets or patterns like the brioche stitch.
    It's very simple to knit. YOu just have to wrap the yarn around the needle counter-clockwise before you knit the second stitch.
    If the next stitch is a purl stitch, you have to hold the yarn in front, and if the next stitch is a knit stitch, then the yarn should be in the back. But that's basically how you knit a yarn over purlwise or knitwise.
    In the return row, you can knit the yarn overs like all other stitches. If you want to close the eyelet a bit, then knit those yarn overs through the back loop. The holes will almost vanish that way.

    Today I randomly found your channel. I have crocheted since sept 2023 and started a month ago with knitting. I watched many tutorials on how to increase/ decrease your knitting, never understood it. But thanks to you! You make it seem so easy that I can knit myself a sweater someday ^^

    I’ve decided I’m going to learn to knit by jumping into a pattern and searching your channel for every stitch I don’t understand

      This is how I am learning, too. I usually practice a pattern with scrap yarn before making it with the yarn purchased for the project.

    Thank you for showing this. I have seen English knitters do this & I have avoided this stitch all together cause their way was strange. Continental is so natural for me, I’m not changing for anything. So today you have ended the confusion for me... now I can make lace with confidence! Thank you Norman!🎁👏🏼🎊🎉

    The YO is fairly easy but me EXCEPT doing a YO purl wise then needing to knit next stitch or the other way around, doing a knit wise YO then purling the next stitch. I was thinking whomever created those patterns did so because they were evil. Maybe a future video?

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  2 роки тому +2

      I think the reason why there is something like yarnover purlwise is because english knitters have to yarn forward to purl. For continental knitters, it's exactly the same - so no evil thoughts at all ^^

    Very good tutorial as always. One thing is a bit strange, please listen to the sound. There is a beeping sound which is a bit annoying when watching the video again an listening to your explanation. Maybe you can upload it again without the background noise. It’s not much , I’m not complaining. Pointing you in the direction to improve 😉

    Do you have a video with several different methods for increasing number of stitches? Im no sure what it is named in english, but Im supposed to pick up a thread between stitches and increase it and then knit it from the backside.

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  Рік тому +2

      if you are on the knitside, you knit it through the back loop. if you are on the purl side, you purl it through the back loop

    For the purl side (wrong side), what happens or what's the difference if i don't purl at the backloop for the 2nd y/o i made in the knit row? i mean just do regular purl

      The size of the resulting eyelet. If you work through the back loop, it will get smaller.
