    Y Axis live tooled lathe would be the machine to use for this part. That being said these little rotaries look great.

    Not to be "That guy" in the comments, but I wouldn't be too proud of that as a demo... Could have done the whole profile with 1 end mill side milling to use the whole length on the end mill, including the slot and interpolating the hole, then drill and tap, then part it off with a Z downfeed while rotating A to leave only a tiny little .100" knub. With a cycle time for the whole part under 2 minutes.

      I think your missing the point. It's a demo of the rotary not how efficiently you can make the part.

      @@spikeypineapple552 comparing machine with price tag aroung 300 000 with machine with pricetag 100 000 its not fair ;) Haas is best machine for that price ! And you can do soo many things like with DMG yeah there are some downgrades but not that much :P

    Seriously, what the heck is going on with the noise from that spindle? I get that it might just be a resonance in the sheet metal or something, but everything after the tool change at 1:12 sounds like someone threw a Skil saw in a washing machine. If one of my machines was making noise like that, I'd be calling a service tech.

      I think what your hearing is the belt drive.
      In mine anyways the motor is belted to the spindle. At high rpm you can start to hear the belt. A wining from the teeth engagement and a buzz if it’s flapping around.
      Mine was getting pretty bad for vibration and buzzing. Shimming the motor to improve belt alignment went a long way. But it’s a belt so it’s never as good as direct drive.

    Great video. Could the final tab be cut a little more for easier removal? Also, I personally could do without the manly-man-honkey-tonk-lets-get-rowdy music on every youtube video geared toward male predominate audiences. I completely understand the Advertising 101 deal. I just find it annoying. I'm here to see some cool stuff or learn something new, not toss back some shots of Jack and throw some darts with my buddies. My preference would be the machining/shop noises without the additional audio, but that's me. DATRON, for instance, may have a little intro audio but then it's just about the machine. 👍👍

    Always put critical features in first before removing the bulk of the material...it helps maintain part rigidity. Also, you should be machining from outside in, not the opposite

    The fact that they put this out as a demo part says everything you need to know. Haas machines are what they’ve always been, cheap throw away machines good for non critical low tolerance work.

    • @brandons9138
      @brandons9138 2 роки тому

      You can get good tight tolerance parts out of a Haas. Just not for very long. They are disposable machines.

      I hold 10ths all day long on my Haas and in 2021 netted 12-13 x what I paid for it. This year I'm at 9x already. Haas leverages simple business economics. Produce a quality machine at a reasonable price.

      I make tight tolerance parts all day on haas.
      Are there better machines out there? Absolutely. But if you can't hold under a .001 tolerance on a haas then the problem is probably you.

    .......we are planning this type of setup but we got confused to ho to take z ooset and xy offsets ......which codes for dynamic offsets in 4th axisgramming is not issue ....setup is difficult
