    Hey Verbose,
How ya doin? I am using Alpha 500K push-pulls; My RMF Tone Maintance Kit (Sozo .002 with 100k Carbon resistor; Sozo .047 tone cap. The wiring is Bill Lawrence's T4+1 wiring: Using a CRL 5 way switch: Pos 1 is Neck only; Pos 2 is Neck and Bridge in parallel; Pos 3 is Bridge; Pos 4 is Neck and Bridge slightly out of phase; Pos 5 is neck with 10% less bass. The Volume control is also coil tap for the neck and Tone control is a tap for the bridge.
    Thanks!

I have been using the Duncan SM-1 pickups and would love to try the Gibson style Mini HB next

When you said that the Neck pickup was tapped did you really mean split?
For instance, the bridge pickup being a true single coil has a tap, meaning that Jason Lollar wound the coil to a certain point then wired a lead to that point, then he continued to wind the coil until it was finished and another lead was added at that point, so that a finished single coil pickup has 3 wires and possibly an additional ground wire for the metal plate under the pickup. For a humbucker to be tapped requires 6 wires( 3 per coil) plus the metal cover will likely have a separate ground wire for a total of 7 wires. On the other hand, a coil split can be accomplished with as few as 3 wires( the normal start of one coil, the finish of the other coil, and a wire from the union of the finish of the first coil and the start of the second coil) plus the likely separate metal cover ground wire.

The mini-humbucker works better in a Telecaster than a full-sized humbucking pickup - which can get too bass heavy and muddy even. Mini-humbuckers and Firebird pickups both work well in telecasters, but nothing is as good as a tele bridge pickup - no?

Just a suggestion - you go to all that trouble to install beautiful pickups with great electronics, an excellent amp, even a great cable - and then you film this and record the audio with the lousy camera microphone? Please consider taking a little time to use a decent microphone and record it so we can hear the result of all your hard work!!! I'm sure it sounds MUCH better than what we can hear on this video.

Thanks, I have been wondering about the difference between the Mini-bucker and the Firebird in the neck of a Tele. I think the warmth of the mini-bucker is a winner.

hey guys, I just put the same pickups and are finding it difficult to find the right pickup height. Can you tell me what the distance from the strings was for the pickups in this guitar? I would much appreciate it!

Am I wrong in thinking that most tele bodies would be equipped to handle the mini humbucker but would need a custom pickguard? If so, how did you get a pickguard to fit the mini?

Just noticed you question: Warmoth can make a Tele pkgd w/ a mini rout. Many color choices....
You can also buy a Fender '52 Tele Hot Rod guard. They're black & made w/ Bakelight. High gloss lacquered finish. Nice guard & my fave!

      More options the better!
It’s nice that it’s all mainly on the one switch. Im making a guitar with all kinds of phase and coil split options on s jaguar style set up. This seems simpler and possibly more diverse in comparison.
