Have you checked out the gigabyte rx 6600 bios? I'm trying to look for it and found it but the GPU memory is set at 500 mhz. Why? The card's max GPU speed is over 2500 mhz. So I can't figure out why tech powerup has their VGA bios memory set so low.
Dude this video is like 6 years old - tech powerup's list might be quite outdated by now. It's been a HOT minute since I had a flash a video card. I would check gigabyte's website for the proper source files for the BIOS. The tools however should all work just fine for the flashing process itself.
Thanks a bunch mate. One question. If my card, sapphire rx570 has dual bios how do i make sure i load the correct bios into each switch position. Not sure if on tech power up they have both the performance and quiet bios's.
It's not dual BIOS as far as I am aware; that's the switch that locks it so that it cannot be flashed. In the case that it is dual BIOS, then just pay attention to the position of the switch and use that BIOS for your actual gaming, but I am pretty sure it's just a lockout switch.
@@MartyUlrich ua-cam.com/video/N_nZyfy2JEE/v-deo.html Thanks for reply. The switch defo is 2 different modes according to that video. Im trying to get my mining gpus back to stock to sell. Maybe if i go through the list on Tech PU and see if there are 2 for my card, one with slower clocks etc.
Some graphics cards have a manual switch that must be activated first before it will accept the ROM. I know some versions of the RX580 had this... there was a jumper you had to move in order to edit the BIOS. Just research your model or see if you can find such a BIOS switch.

Hello, i have to install a slightly different bios and im aware of the possible issues. What can i do to go around the mismatch Warning? I‘ve read things like adding -p somewhere but i dont know where to do that. Please help me😭
Run some hardware diagnostics. You might have an issue with the hard drive, memory, or something on the board. The GPU shouldn't crash the system. If you can, try another machine.
very useful considering that the card eont even work for gaming now that AMD put something in the drivers to prevent it from working if the bios has a mod. You can download a earlier driver version. They made the change around the time forza 5 launched, so if you download the game ready drivers for the forza 5, I am pretty sure that you can game on the mining bios. The lower GPU core is not helping these cards. We need to get them all flashed back so us gamers can FINALLY use them.

After the benchmark crash, then my problems began. I tried to reinstall the drivers but the PC kept restarting. When it restarts, it freezes during the windows boot screen. The PC turns in fine without the nvidia drivers, but immediately I try to install drivers then it stops in the middle and restarts and freezes. What could be wrong with my Asus Strix GTX980ti
Hey there I suspects my ZOTAC GTX 970 BIOS chip to be faulty because I had stability issue and after rewriting the same firmware from TechPowerUp it fixed the issues for a while but then it came back again recently. So I have a few questions. What are the possibilities? Does that seem like a faulty BIOS or clock chip? How to check the BIOS with a multi-meter if it's faulty?
Do you have integrated video in your motherboard or a 2nd PCIE slot? Sometimes you load the wrong ROM and you can't boot the computer. It's probably actually booting up all the way to the login, but you can't see it since the GPU is bricked. To un-brick you need to plug the monitor into another video port either on the motherboard or another card. Go back and try again - look very carefully at the ID, memory clock speeds, and brand of memory. All must match what GPUz displays. Flash again. I had to flash a couple of mine 2 or 3 time to find the correct one.
Its saying that I have that Bios already installed the one I found online? I am confused now so isnt my gpu a mining gpu, since like someone else told me that mine is probably a mining gpu?
Gpu-Z says 'BIOS reading not supported on this device.' and then ATIFlash says 'Cannot find discrete ATI video card.' I guess I'm screwed... The GPU I'm trying to fix is an old RX570 4Gb used for mining. Tried running these programs through my onboard Ryzen 2400g output since the RX gives only black screen and the PC won't boot at all. By the way, both HWinfo and gpu-z read the discrete card although with incorrect clock speeds. Is there any hope for this card or should I just toss it in the bin and be done with it? :')

Hey man I need help. I flashed my GPU bios and it wouldn’t boot after that. However I was able to reset my whole pc and reinstall windows and now it works and I can do normal stuff. However I play video games and when I installed my GPU drivers for my rx 580 my screen instantly turned blue when it tried to open. Therefore I had to boot in safe mode and uninstall my drivers which was successful. Then when I tried to flash my bios with ati flash my screen instantly turned blue when I tried to open it. Yes I did try to run it as administrator. However I downloaded what I was told to be the default version of the bios from searching it up. I flashed the GPU bios via cmd prompt and it worked. However I’m not sure if it fully worked. When I flashed my GPU bios with cmd prompt my screen turned blue. I let it sit there and it reset my pc. I opened GPU Z and check the bios version and it was the default one. But I still get a blue screen when I try to open ati flash and install drivers. Do you have any idea what the problem is.
That sounds more like a motherboard/CPU/Bus issue than a GPU issue. I would try to flash the GPU using another computer and see if you get better results.
@@MartyUlrich I found out that I haven’t rlly been flashing my bios. I have found a way to force flash tho. I have narrowed down 5 bios versions that are compatible (I hope) and I will have to test each and every one of them. I also know that there are newer bios versions and older ones I can get from my manufacturer Bc I asked them to send me the latest one and they did. I will try to ask for older versions and even the stock one if they can get it. If these don’t work can you recommend any fixes?
Yeah I'd say check GPUz and verify whether or not it is the correct ROM. It probably wouldn't hurt to re-flash the correct one, even if it is what you already have. Then try again.
Okay i bought used asus r9 380 and it was mining but when i changed bios and installed drivers, they couldn't install no matter which bios i install i get error 43, is there any fix ?
I am not familiar with that error. So you cannot even install drivers for it? Does Windows recognize the device? I would check the device manager first. If it shows that it is there, even with generic drivers, then run Direct X Diagnostics. If you are dead sure you have the correct BIOS and it still returns errors in DX Diagnostics, then you might have a physically damaged card. The heat from mining can do that.
Hello from the netherlands, so i followed al the steps but now it says "This version of VBIOS is already installed" the thing is.. (and still is) at gpuz it says "ELLESMERE" at the gpu tab, but i needs to say POLARIS what did indo wrong?

Hello, my amd ati/flash didn’t pick up my graphic card (rx 570), but it picked up ATI Radeon Polaris 10. What does that mean? Do I need to uninstall and drivers before I do the flash?
Hi Just wondering if you could help me. I've downloaded and followed all step by step your instructions upto to the point. ATI flash utility crashes and so does Radeon software adrenalin too. The gpu does not appear on the bios on the mobo too. If you could help I would appreciate it. Thanks
i have 2 identical cards rx570 but with different roms, how do i extra rom from one card so i can use it on the other? which program can be used for this? thanks
Well first off, just because they are both RX570s doesn't mean they are exactly the same. They likely have different brands of memory installed into the GPU and therefore each needs its own ROM to match the hardware inside of it. You can do all of that from what I show in the video.
I tried flashing my gpu but at first it said it is mismatched so I programmed it again with my backup rom which was successful. after rebooting, there's no more display.
Your hardware is damaged I would say. If you found the correct ROM online and it is mismatched, that could mean it didn't match the program of the logic chip, however, an incorrect ROM can also give a mismatch.
Hi, I have an AREZ RX 560 2G no OC, a guy changed the BIOS and I said no but It has not created a backup of original BIOS... Now when driver is installed, the screen begin blue and freeze. I have a 8gb asus strix 480 but when I look up the the device iD it shows in gpuZ on google it says that number belongs to a sapphire rx 480 8gb nitro plus, does anyone know why this is? Could it maybe be that the card is actually an sapphire card but with an asus cooler and backplate (I don’t think this is the case because all the rgb stuff and connectors seem to be connected properly
I tried to flash a few Roms but the problem is that when I try to flash an strix bios it tells me it is the wrong subsystem ID (gpuZ tells me the same) so I can’t flash a single one of the strix rx480 Roms available on techpowerup (bdw I also looked on the pcb to see if it maybe was a sapphire card with a strix cooler mounted on by the previous owner but this is not the case) so right now I can only flash roms that are made for sapphire cards and none of them work correctly (144hz doesn’t work and i can’t use DisplayPort. Gaming performance seems fine tho)
Hey i just fixed my card by bypassing the wrong subsystem ID error by using the following video > ua-cam.com/video/a7RvCWUwc8M/v-deo.html < this way I could flash the correct rom without getting the error
In this case, you'll need to use onboard video, or a 2nd, known good, video card. Boot up with the display coming from one of those alternative sources and then flash.

First, check the card using the Direct X diagnostic tool shown in the video. If it shows any errors, the wrong BIOS is installed. Make sure all numbers match up and when you load the correct one, run the Direct X diagnostic tool again and it will show no errors.

Just bought a card, don’t know if I need to flash the bios but if this works, I would be grateful. If I don’t need to flash the bios, I would still be happy for learning something new. Thanks
u just saved me 200$ from not buying a new gpu thanks
Have you checked out the gigabyte rx 6600 bios? I'm trying to look for it and found it but the GPU memory is set at 500 mhz. Why? The card's max GPU speed is over 2500 mhz. So I can't figure out why tech powerup has their VGA bios memory set so low.
Dude this video is like 6 years old - tech powerup's list might be quite outdated by now. It's been a HOT minute since I had a flash a video card. I would check gigabyte's website for the proper source files for the BIOS. The tools however should all work just fine for the flashing process itself.
@@MartyUlrich ok thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll check that out.

Thanks for reply. The switch defo is 2 different modes according to that video.
Im trying to get my mining gpus back to stock to sell.
Maybe if i go through the list on Tech PU and see if there are 2 for my card, one with slower clocks etc.
Simple and works. Thanks mate.
Could you make a video on what to do if you flash the wrong bios and you get a black screen, how to find the gpu and flash old bios back ?
Yeah, I've been meaning to do a follow-up video. Once I get the equipment set up I will.

Sir, when I hit the program button on ATIFLASH, after couple of seconds it says flash failed. Need help! TIA
got the same problem still haven't found a fix :(
Some graphics cards have a manual switch that must be activated first before it will accept the ROM. I know some versions of the RX580 had this... there was a jumper you had to move in order to edit the BIOS. Just research your model or see if you can find such a BIOS switch.
Hey man, thanks for the video!
I'm having some trouble finding the correct bios for my card. I have an Asus dual OC RX 580 8gb, with the device ID 1002 67df - 1043 0597. But i can not find a matching ID if I put in the specs in Techpowerup, all the dual oc's i find end in 21...
It's a pretty extensive list but doesn't include every BIOS. Check the manufacturer's website in that case.

When i download the ATI Flash form the link in the description the UI is just a cmd tab. How can i get the same UI as your ATI flash
Because you downloaded the DOS version... try again - get the Windows version
Holy hell your a life saver !!!! Thanks .
Hi! My computer freezes when I execute the program to flash bios. What can I do?
Hi, i have a problem with my GPU card. No signal on BIOS entry, straight drop me to the Win Login screen. Maybe the VBIOS can help? AMD 5600X, MSI Rx 580 Gaming X 8GB. I have only HDMi display device - Hisense 55U8QF and old FHD Samsung TV.
Gotta find a way to bypass that card while it is plugged in. Might need to do it on another motherboard and display, but that's the only way.
@@MartyUlrich thanks the answer. I re flashed the GPU BIOS, and everything is fine 👌👌👌
Could the bios of my gpu be ruining the performance it was running fine for a while, now it's running half of the speed it used to, tested on a different system, however yesterday it ran fine, the day before had that same problem and the day before it was running fine.
I am not sure... but flashing certainly will not hurt it. There could be other issues causing that. The BIOS is but one factor.

Good griefs, you've got some skill. I'm not tech savvy so I really admire your work. Can I get help with my card. I have no idea what's wrong with it, I few months ago I run the "Heaven benchmark" on it and it kept crushing. My card had been gaming fine before by the way.
I am thinking a physically damaged card in this case... try another known good one to troubleshoot
Hey there
I suspects my ZOTAC GTX 970 BIOS chip to be faulty because I had stability issue and after rewriting the same firmware from TechPowerUp it fixed the issues for a while but then it came back again recently. So I have a few questions.
What are the possibilities? Does that seem like a faulty BIOS or clock chip?
How to check the BIOS with a multi-meter if it's faulty?
I'd say faulty clock chip in this case.
@@MartyUlrich Thanks a lot.
Bro please help me I tried flashing it now my pc wont boot up :(( im using a RYZEN 5 3600
The ryzen3600 does not have intergrated graphics sadly
I'm afraid it sounds like that card is hosed. Sorry man.

When I enter in the bios, i get black screen, when I change to the oldest monitor, all work fine (DVI)
Bizzare indeed, but I would say your card is fine. Double-check the BIOS specs with GPUz and if all checks out, update the drivers.

You need to load it up on a machine with a working video card, preferably integrated graphics, then you can properly look into the issue.
Hello, this is a long shot, i just bought 2 GPUS rx 480s they are both like that 580 once i boot up the fans kick up to 100, is there a way to flash it and have the stock fan curves??

Yeah I'd say check GPUz and verify whether or not it is the correct ROM. It probably wouldn't hurt to re-flash the correct one, even if it is what you already have. Then try again.
Can you solve the problem?
Okay i bought used asus r9 380 and it was mining but when i changed bios and installed drivers, they couldn't install no matter which bios i install i get error 43, is there any fix ?
I am not familiar with that error. So you cannot even install drivers for it? Does Windows recognize the device? I would check the device manager first. If it shows that it is there, even with generic drivers, then run Direct X Diagnostics. If you are dead sure you have the correct BIOS and it still returns errors in DX Diagnostics, then you might have a physically damaged card. The heat from mining can do that.

luv u man stay blessed
i have 2 identical cards rx570 but with different roms, how do i extra rom from one card so i can use it on the other? which program can be used for this?

Not sure about that one. Try flashing with your best guess of what the ROM should be and check again. I have never encountered that situation.
