I don’t like how you guys dealt with Ali who was speaking from around the 45 minute mark onwards (the conversation around free will, choice, agency). I thought he was mostly respectful (interruptions notwithstanding, but Sam often interrupts) and was willing to dialogue. Avery - you asked him to give a direct answer to a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question, which is fair - however you know, and I know, that not every question should be answered simply that way. I think Ali’s politeness at least deserved the benefit of the doubt. If he was going to bury himself, let him bury himself by his explanation. Last message I’ll leave with is this - don’t let ego, and desire to be right, get in the way of discovery of the truth. I know neither of us is ultimately able to convert anybody to the truth (I have seen this in my own journey), but shutting down someone who (from my perspective) was willing to have a polite and open conversation does not feed aid in the work of bringing others to the truth.

He said, "Read in the Name of your Lord Who created", and then He went on to explain to him about creation, saying in Qur'anic Arabic, "Khalaqal ensana min alaq, He created the human person of congealed blood."
That was the first concept. Now what is first? He created you from a small amount of adhering blood, holding together. Obviously, Muhammed was no dumb man. He was a very brilliant, bright, intelligent person, because G_d said this to him, and he was able to follow it. When it says he could read, it means he could follow what G_d was communicating.
He couldn't read before but when G d started putting it together for Muhammed, he was able to read the meaning. He was able to follow what G_d was communicating to him.
It said, "Iqra bisme rab-bel kal ladhee khalaq. Read in the name of your Lord Who created".
That was the first verse. Then it said, "Khalaqal ensana men 'alaq" He created the human being from congealed blood, a small amount, a drop of congealed blood. Then it repeats again, "Iqra wa rab-bul akram, Read and your Lord is Most Generous". So, the Creator is his Lord; "lqra", first, "Read in the name of your Lord". Your Lord is going with Creator. This Creator is your Lord. Take it word by word; "Iqra, read". Then He said, "Bisme, name". Then He said, "Rub-beka, your Lord."

This hadith urges on to feed the hungry, giving the drink to the thirsty and to visit the sick; and also reveals the great reward for these good deeds. May All-Mighty give us power to do so.

The Creations of Allah
Allah says in the Quran that He is the Creator of everything. Isn't that enough for us? Is there something that you created? How did you get here? Where did all those things come from that you've been using? Did you bring them from nowhere? You came from insignificance. You came from common earth, clay, dust, water.
You had no sense. Allah made you complete as a human being and then gave you intelligence. As Allah says in the Quran, " .. .and human faculties."
Because of that gift, you are able to grow and learn about your environment.
The environment that you're learning about, where did it come from? Did you make it? You, the instrument made by Allah?
The thing that you study was made by Allah. So what have you to boast of? Everything that you have to boast of is really a praise that you should give to G-d. The greater a man is, the greater the testimony that G-d is great because he had nothing.
The greatest ruler, the wisest scientist, all came up from little infants, whining and wetting on themselves. They had no sense. They had to grow. They had to see the world that Allah has made. They had to grow in understanding of this world. That is how they got their sense. They got their knowledge out of
G-d’s creation. Allah is the Creator of everything.
What about Jinns? Yes. He said, "I have created Jinn and men only that they should worship me." Allah didn't say that somebody else created the Jinn. He said, "I have created Jinn and men, only that they should worship me."
Oh! What about the angels? Allah says He is the creator of angels. He is the One who orders the angels. They cannot do anything until He instructs them.
What about the Holy Spirit? Allah says He is the One who sends the holy Spirit and the holy Spirit obeys Allah. He says the Holy spirit and the angels all obey G-d and they obey every order. They don't disobey a single order.
But the Jinn and the men have intelligence: They have freedom to a certain degree. It's what we call human freedom. So they disobey.
Those things that we have been worshiping are perfect slaves of Allah, angels, supernatural powers. There are no supernatural powers, all are powers under Allah, all are the creation of Allah. One creation. One Creator.
The Muslim has a Muslim way of looking at creation. The Sun, the Moon, the Stars, everything is the creation of Allah.
Allah is the perfect being. Allah is all righteous, truthful - no imperfections in Allah. Allah is Supreme and Perfect without any imperfections.
O, Allah. Make us of those who purify themselves and of those who repent, and guide us in your path. Amen.
