Not sure Pels would trade Murphy just to get off CJ's contract, especially if they're getting longer, more expensive contracts in LaVine & Brooks..

Agreed, the trade would make the team overall worse short term and long term bc you’re limiting financial flexibility for the future, especially if no draft capital or younger players come back in return.
I cannot imagine the pelicans moving Ingram and Murphy in the same deal let alone Murphy at all. That is very heavily lopsided towards Chicago

Odds of any of these trades happening is slim to none obviously haha. The thought of this one was a more of a retool. Try a different style group if you will.
I personally if I was running NOLA, would just try to make it work with BI. While the basketball fit isn’t natural with this group, I think we have seen enough winning from the core that you could justify it.

After being so wrong about Brandon Miller last year, there are very few players *cough* Clingan *cough* the Hornets could select that would bum me out.
Reed would be super exciting and would help fix some glaring issues (consistent shooting + spacing -we’re bottom 1/3 of the league) but I was hoping for a Castle or Devin Carter to help Melo defensively (we’re bottom 3 in opposing shooting % 😅). Melo can technically guard 2s but I don’t know that he’ll ever be better than average.
I have the same question about Reed - Are we getting a better shooting (but worse playmaking?) Terry Rozier with Reed?

It’s a statistical measurement used to measure “total impact” on a team. It’s not the worst stat ever honestly haha. It’s at least well thought out.

I feel like that trade hurts New Orleans more than it helps. They are downgrading from each player they move in that deal while also taking on LaVine’s nightmare contract. I think they have to get the 3rd pick in that deal to make it at least somewhat worth it. Otherwise, they’d have to think there’s better deals out there for each of those players.
Maybe. It’s hard to say. I personally view Lavine and Ingram in pretty similar lights. One is a more unique style of player, whereas one is more so just pure buckets. I do Ayo is a really nice addition to the team and more so on the timeline if you will.
I do think Lavine is maybe more of a basic basketball fit improvement, but if I ran NOLA I would try to make BI work because we’ve seen good things from him with this group.
@@_AVC_ I think when both are at their best, I’d agree with you but unfortunately Zach’s injuries are the biggest problem with trading for him. His value would be so much higher if his basketball fit was the only worry but unfortunately, I think his health tanks NOLA’s interest. Especially when they are already dealing with their own injury prone star.
I like the Ayo addition a lot, one of the better parts of the deal for them for sure.

Is it crazy to think Castle reminds me of Kawhi Leonard for the Spurs? As I recall Kawhi wasn't supposed to have a shot either. But defensively he looked great.
@@ed8018 Yeah I’d actually say Castle is a more highly sought after prospect because of the clear athleticism and court vision. Castle really couldn’t shoot though 😅. I do think he would find a lot of success in San Antonio though!

Grant Williams seems to be a big leader in the Charlotte locker room already. I doubt they’d look to move him this off season with the relationship he’s building with the young guys.

@@_AVC_ I think Grant gets a bad rap. In just the few months he’s been in Charlotte he’s done a ton of media stuff and has been seen out a few times with Brandon and Mark. Charlotte has been void of leadership for so long, seeing even the smallest bit of it has been super refreshing.

Loved the vid! Just a quick question; what actually happens if the hawks take sarr? There is nothing actually stopping them from doing it, only some “light dissuading” from sarr and his camp. I guess the question is that he just refuses to play for them? Or realistically what would happen if they did take him, I guess is what I am trying to envision. Keep up the good content!

My guess is that his camp sees Atlanta as unpredictable in what they are gonna do and just liked the idea of Washington more.

Pelicans would not trade both Murphy and Ingram doesn’t make a whole lot of sense IMO, I think the whole point of getting off of Ingram is because of not wanting to pay him what he wants as well as believing in the upside that Trey Murphy has already showed and the willingness to pay him instead. It’s just confusing because you said Pelicans would be getting off CJ contract when you’re bringing in one of the worst contracts in Lavine, not to mention 3 years 22 million of Dillion Brooks
Also trading away essentially CJ, Ingram, and Murphy for a return of Lavine, Brooks, Ayo would change the look of the Pelicans drastically for the worse current day as well as severely limits your future IMO by getting back no assets/true promising young players
Yeah I hear ya! Obviously the likelihood of any of this is pretty low haha. But the idea is to go through more of a retool. By the end of the trade have a much more “logical” fit basketball team around Zion is the idea.
As far as the CJ part, you are getting rid of his contract and the potential of a BI one so that’s where the savings logic comes in.
i dont disagree with the pistons trade, i think that's likely, but I think for helping the grizzlies shed salary while taking nothing back and moving up in the draft, I think the return is a little lackluster. I would think they would get 2-3 2nds for this, but I could be wrong
The thing with Kennard is that he is on a team option. Teams know they can and will just cut him anyway. Love the thinking though!

I could have someone watch every single game ever, but they still might not understand the inner workings and complexities of what happens on/in a high level basketball team. I go to the movies every Sunday but I don’t consider myself a movie expert ya know? It’s totally fine, it just doesn’t qualify anything.

I'm afraid Zach Lavine does not have that kind of value man... IP, no defense and terrible contract. Bulls would go for this without the 3rd pick just for Murphy, and there is no way the pels are doing this. Just take the Bulls out of this trade and it makes a lot more sense: ingram for brooks tate and #3. I know everyone wants to give clingan to the Bulls, that makes sense and would be great for them, but lavine won't get them more than a late 1st (maybe not even that tbh).
I see what you’re saying. Yeah Lavine was a pretty poor defender early on in his career, but he did have a really big upswing up until the last season. At the end of the day you get him to get buckets though and there aren’t many that can do what he does.
Honestly though I think the 3rd pick is one of least valuable things in the trade. These picks are trying to be moved all over the place right now, and I feel like getting a border line all star player as a part of it isn’t unrealistic at all.

To me their isn’t much of a difference players from 12-20 all of them are interchangeable, I think it’s most likely they would trade up for a player they like

Ayo (while not as good as CJ right now) is a pretty proven already young 3 and D PG that is on one of the best contracts in the game right now. I think it would be amazing to add him to this squad.
Dillon obviously brings some solid numbers but brings some attitude as well. I won’t say the guys going out aren’t important but I personally think these guys are a more natural fit.

Pelicans need a Center and Guard their objectives must be Garland and/or a center like Allen or a stretching 4 plus some ring protector

Yeah the Lavine contract is a lot. But it’s no different than what an Ingram contract would be. Garland and Lavine aren’t really that different either. I still think this is a way to do more of a complete retooling.

Lakers have there center in davis. They can sign and a backup center in free agency. ( davis is not a 4 and i hope ur not one of those people who say put him there because he cant shoot)
I don’t know I think they might want to tighten up the guard spot. I think they can find some size elsewhere/just play AD there if needed.
