- The new Cleary Gecko has dropped some weight by going to alloy from steel and also gets a higher rise bar to put the kids in an upright position for learning to pedal. Everything is dialed on the build from the sealed headset and bottom bracket bearings to the short-reach brake levers for the tots. Small 19mm grips, toddler-sized seat, and little 89mm cranks round out a pint-size whip for the 2-3.5-year-old. Be sure to get the freewheel option for the best chance of pedaling success.
Weight: 12lbs | MSRP: $380 US
Min-Max seat inseam: 15"-18"

Say No to Coaster Brakes (backpedal brake) Article-

Been looking for those components online for a long time for a scooter push bike with a motor the technology has come a long way thanks for the Video
I purchased a 12-inch bicycle from Specialized and noticed some issues, as you pointed out. I am making some improvements, such as replacing the hub with a 12-tooth freehub cog, installing efficient brakes, and replacing the entire crankset, bottom bracket, bearings, and pedals. These modifications significantly increase the total cost, more than doubling the price of the bike. All of this is necessary to correct the design flaws that you accurately mentioned. Congratulations on your video!
This video is the reason I bought this bike for my 2.5 year old son. Thank you Jack for this great review. Initially I ordered a Specialized 2022 Riprock 12 Inch Kids Bike and when I went to the store to pick it up I was very disappointed to see that the rear tire had so much drag. I learned that all coaster brake bikes are like that. So I immediately returned it and then I found the Cleary Gecko 12 and we can't be happier with it. It's a well built bike and my son transitioned from his balance bike to the Cleary Gecko 12" in less than an hour. Now we do a lot of bike trails and also ventured on the gravel trails in the nearby forest preserves.
So awesome to hear!!!
Congratulations!
Which balance bike did you use, and for how long?
Nice review, thank you for so many details!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent review. I looked at some older used Geckos to buy, but I think the improved cockpit design sold me on just purchasing a new one. Thanks for influencing my purchase.
Glad to help Chris! The cockpit design is so much better. The reduction in weight is the largest improvement. Your kid will love it. It’s an awesome bike
Kick ass review. Mine should come by Xmas!
What are the dimensions and weight of a package that contains Cleary Gecko 12 inch?
We have an older gecko we purchased for our 2.5 year old and the bars are straight design. our son is now 3 and have been waiting for the 50mm rise bars to come back in stock. He is so leaned over when riding. He actually stopped riding it because of that and sticks to the BMX bikes. I called Cleary and they said they will not be selling the 50mm rise bars in the near future. I'm wondering if you know of any other alternative for a bar rise that will fit.
I am interested in purchasing this bike Gecko 12-inch white or green, Is there any way they send it to Europe?
Not too sure. Contact Cleary, they are super responsive. Link in video description
I found some bolt on hubs which are bolt on font and rear. Front has 9mm axle and I'm not sure if I can put it on a 3/8" fork that came with a bolt on hex nut style hub. Do you think the smaller axle will be an issue? Should I have a machine shop make me a shim so I can make up a difference or am I better off getting something that is meant for the 3/8" standard? Thanks
I’m sorry, we sent the bike back after review so we can’t verify measurements. Cleary is awesome at responding to questions. Have you reached out to them?
@@TheBikeDads I am working on a spawn Yoji 16
@@MotoSurgeon have you tried calling Max at Spawn?
@@TheBikeDads My last emails with Spawn lead me to believe they are not exactly in tune with much of the engineering. I'll be better of thinking for myself at this point.
Nice review. You should test the Dirt Hero by Shotgun.
One is on the way...
