I like Simmons cuz of everything he does under the rim, the way he gets the simple layups and close shots drawing the fouls. He's also an epic dunker and knows how to cross over and take it to the hole with strength.

bob brown He’s a great defender, y’all make it clear that y’all don’t watch basketball when you care about blocked shots and steals. You can be a great defender without getting a block or steal. Prime examples are Dennis and Dray. Also the comparison is pretty obvious between the two. Ridiculous athleticism, high basketball iq, great passing ability.
bob brown He doesn’t get a block because he has to guard smaller guys on perimeter so he not hanging around the perimeter. Plus during the regular season he isn’t too consistent on defense

Almost 30 mins of highlights. People forget how good this guy was and can hopefully still be. REALLY, REALLY good. Back injuries are no joke.
One of the most talented and intelligent player I have ever seen.
This guy still averaged more points than a "scorer" like Jayson Tatum without hitting a three-point shot. And you can't even say, "well Tatum had to share the ball with Kyrie," because Ben had to share the ball with Embiid, and eventually three guys who all averaged just under 20 (Harris, Butler, Reddick).
He has already put up numbers similar to Oscar and Magic in his first two seasons. Almost every player in the league develops a jump shot (look at guys like Blake Griffin, and even Anthony Davis), but you can't teach a lot of the other intangibles he brings to the game. All the hate he gets shows why so many NBA fans no so little about basketball. Essentially, if you watch this kid and don't see the talent, you should try following another sport.

This league is filled with inefficient volume scorers...i rather someone know there role then try to do what that arent yet comfortable doing ...hopefully he's getting shots up and getting comfortable and getting a rhythm to his shot...but I'd take his efficiency and impact over the game ...over a volume scorer anyday....why have enough of those in this league

@John blaze it was also a different league 16 years ago when LeBron entered the NBA. Steph Curry and the Warriors changed the outlook of the game. Simmons coming into the league 15 years ago would have been more beneficial to his game. We weren't thinking this way in 2004. It's imperative to be at least a decent shooter today at all positions. Simmons can do a lot of things, which is impressive at his size, but the one thing he's so bad at is a major part of today's game.

Disagree all you want yes he cant shoot but the man is a top ten passer in the league with great size, athleticism, and has a really high IQ for the ball. On top of that he hustles on defense shooting is something you can learn but all the other intangibles are God given.

Soley due to potential intangibles and many God given gift that he has.he can run down the court and just look over his defender and make pin point passes he could gaurd 1 thru 4 and when he puts on more weight he can also switch to gaurd the 5. he ball handles like a gaurd and play defence with tenacity he deserve every penny of that max deal.

Do your thing Ben. He was going to get paid no matter where he went because everyone knows the potential he has. Shooting isn't the only thing In basketball he still averages damn near a triple double and 17ppg even while barely shooting and I say barely because he has attempted shots in games he just needs to build his confidence up. Even if Simmons never fully utilizes his shot in an actual nba game, he still has insane promise and potential. Clearly when it comes to being a slasher and a pass-first point guard, Simmons is a for sure threat, but on-top of that he has size which gives him great defensive upside (even if he gets caught standing in the paint some times).
The 76ers have developed into an aggressive, defensive team. He is also a nice balance alongside Embiid because Embiid some times takes more threes than he should for a big-guy. I think Simmons gets crazy hate because tbh Giannis plays almost the same way, it's just Giannis attempts more threes (but also airballs more).
The only problem 76ers had was that Simmons gets tired and defenses step up on him and shut him down in the playoffs. However, with Al Horford and Josh Richardson 76ers got more bench power and I think Simmons is gunna prove that he is worth that contract.
There are a lot of players with contracts that don't make sense, in terms of the money vs performance, but imo Simmons is worth every penny. After the whole Fultz-thing, I say why not go all-in??

One of the best defenders in the league could win DPOY someday, one of the best passers in the NBA could lead the league in APG for years to come, can lead the league in total triple doubles, is one of the fastest players I have ever seen on the basketball court and is one of the best transition players on either end, one of the few players that can block 3 point shots like it's nothing and casually do a chase down block, handles are some of the best in the league, has great instincts and is able to time passes and strip his matchup to get steals could lead the league in SPG as well. WAIT isn't that every aspect of the game that he's excellent in except shooting? So if he had a shot he's a perennial MVP candidate? Yep, deserves the MAX.
