I had season tickets for years to Fresno's dinner theater, and remember seeing Audra as Evita, who was absolutely mesmerizing in the role - at only 16! As a Junior in high school at the time!! Even when she was only 8/9 in the Junior Company, she stood out as an exceptional performer. (As a side note, her father was my son's high school principal. . .)
Fresh Hell listening to herself sing, She doesn't know she's 1 of The GREATEST female vocalists?!?!. Her rendition of "Climb Ev'ry Mountain from The Sound Of Music was to me personally ULTIMATE PERFECTION 💯%‼🔝⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Audra's so right about Starlight Express. I think I forgot about it while I was walking out of the theatre. A few seconds later I had to look at my Playbill to remind me what I just saw.
I always wonder about all these classical voice experts who claim that if you sing with the proper technique you won't have vocal problems. It seems to me this is disproved time and time again. Such technically sound and diverse singers as Audra McDonald, Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Leontyne Price and Maria Callas have all had periods of vocal troubles in their careers. It seems technique can't always be the answer to escaping vocal problems. What does everyone think?
Billie Davis I think it also comes down to the roles they are playing when the problems arise, how taxing that specific role is on them 8x a week, if they became ill and that exasperated any potential vocal issues, and other things. Technique gets your through it safely, but the chords are delicate and I marvel how people can do it so often.
Remember that one time she won that sixth Tony?
I sure do!

Haha, I saw Porgy & Bess last week and I was definitely one of the fans talking quietly and telling her to be quiet. She was amazing, shocker!
I've been waiting for this interview. She's my absolute FAVORITE!
A voice of pure silver, wrapped in pure gold foil, encased in platinum and sprinkled with diamonds!
That's Audra !
What Audra does in Porgy is amazing. Opera singers don't sing that many shows in a week.
I think Audra should play Mary Poppins on Brodway. A black Mary Poppins would be awesome
Like if you would see her play Mamma Rose in an all African-American cast of "Gypsy"!!!!!
paul wontorek is absolutely adorable, its so cute that he wore a tie for her

I think the absolute best was when she was talking about her dogs!

Ha! Rollertown is still open!
What song is in the beginning of the video?
The woman is terrifying. I love it.
Thumbs up if you indulge in the Audra McDonald UA-cam Concert experience at least once a week ;) I know I do at least once a day if not more lol
I know it's an odd thing to say, but she looks like a black version of Sandra Bullock with the facial expressions
Paul I also have a private Audra McDonald youtube concert. Every single day
i hi fived myself when i saw this
Currently peeing my pants.
I'd really like to know if Georgia found Jesus in the meantime.
