Standing up for what you believe in and setting boundaries, is always hard for people that don't want that to happen. So to win over the future Mother in law, Ethan better bring pizza when they go back to her homeworld to show Grandma the baby. Great listen as always.
Awesome story! It's a concept as old as time itself. If you like history you know that quite a few of our civilizations have imploded upon themselves when the ruling class has attempted to impose too many restrictions on free thinking. What made this a wonderful story was Celia's rebellion didn't destroy her kingdom, it enhanced it, creating a new future for her people. And, instead of having to depose her mother she was able to open her eyes, and reconnect with her. Getting that second chance that too few of us ever see.
So, the Queen purposely brings an emotional human help her daughter unlock hidden powers, then completely ignores every emotional consideration in the process? And refuses to consider any input that might actually have some chance of success? And then, after so much stubbornness in the early part of the story, has a major change of heart? This was a really frustrating one to listen to.
Why? The queen was so hidebound by tradition, a culture of repressed emotion. She knew no other way. It took an emotional human and a rebellious daughter breaking from tradition to open her eyes to the truth. What makes that so hard to listen to?
