@@connorhagans9918 I 100% used the product and have photos of me using it every day for six days as per the instructions. The photos I've taken are with the same camera, with the same settings, in the same lighting - which is totally different to the "before and afters" seen on HiSmile's website and on instagram. As a dentist in Australia, my professional opinion on a product that goes into someone's mouth is able to be scrutinised by the body that registers dentists - AHPRA, and if I am found to be misleading or untruthful, it could affect my ability to practice dentistry. I would not risk such damage to my ability to practice, to provide dental services to my awesome community, to provide for my family, just to bring some other company down. I made this video out of genuine curiosity for a product that my patients and others around the world have been buying or are interested in to see whether it worked as it claimed. Sadly, it does not work as it claimed. If it did, I would be the first person to recommend it to my patients as it is cheaper than professional whitening.
Method Dental so your telling me that the company is scamming people into spending £60 on something that doesn’t work? Sorry but I just don’t believe you to be honest, for your teeth to not change at all is pretty weird for a product that is supposed to make it minimum 2 shades whiter
C J C J I get that but their marketing is really, really slick. Did you know for example, that they pay Kylie Jenner to promote the product and she has veneers which do not change colour with any whitening treatment? Have you looked at the before and after photos on their website or Instagram? Can you see differences in lighting and the tone of people’s lips and face? The teeth look whiter because the lighting and white balance change in different photos when using a phone. What about the number of people in the comments here that have agreed that it didn’t work for them? Or the other UA-cam reviews where it didn’t work? I get literally no benefit from lying and I only carry risk that my registration could be affected or that HiSmile themselves may attempt to sue me. I would honestly recommend Colgate optic white toothpaste or oral-b whitening strips as being more effective for a much smaller price. I don’t know how much more honest advice and insight I can give?

Thanks for this review, I recently bought the HiSmile colour correcting thing and found that it actually worked. I was thinking about upgrading to this one and decided I'd look at some reviews to see how much better it'd be. Turns out it wasn't the case. Thanks for the review , I did notice they had changed the ingredients and feel maybe that the new version is better, so I'll be looking out for that review from you. Cause I'm still tempted 😆

I just got this as as gift because I've been wanting to whiten my teeth, but I really don't trust anything heavily endorsed on Instagram. The review is very much appreciated. Wish me luck!
If you check ingredients now, they’ve changed the ingredients in the whitening gel to 22% carbamide peroxide, which is MUCH more effective and does actually work. Double check ingredients with any refills / kit you’re purchasing!
You are so right. I bought this product even though my teeth are fairly white. I was very disappointed. I didn't expect to see any difference truthfully but a slight one at the least. I purchased the foam and the powder. Now, I must say that when I got up the next morning after the first use, I did see a better under tone. I had been drinking a little coffee here and there. I am not really a coffee, but I dabble somewhat. I have continue using this for three days now and will because it was $25 each. I use it twice a day and like I said my under tone are better so it's not a total loss. But, I would not recommend buying it.
I never really believed it worked, i wanted to, but didn’t. It’s nice to have a professional confirm my suspicions. Thank you for this review, Dr. Grant.
An overdue review!! I work in the dental industry as well and I’ve always find this whole ‘take home whitening’ dodgy. Thanks for this, doc! Such a shame how many people were fooled by companies like this. Thanks to influencers who are plain money hungry.
Thank you Keilah! So great to hear that you're in the dental industry too! Keep helping to spread the word about dodgy companies and products like this 😊 What really gets me though is that I do a professional review of this product with absolutely no outside influence but there's still people out there accusing me of being dishonest... Yep - I'm the dishonest one - not the company that has influencers with veneers that cannot whiten promoting their product!
Method Dental Exactly doc! I find myself in such a silly situation when we come across patients who would ask if we can recommend these products or if they actually work. I just laugh whenever another ‘influencer’ with sponsored veneers talk about the cosmetic side and how instantaneous it can be achieved when no one opens up about priorizing the most basic thing which is oral health.
Some dentists told me to use at-home whitening products. I'm not saying this dentist in the video is a liar, but don't base your judgement on professionals because anyone can say anything.
@@cheekymonkeygirl3378 so you’re telling me that you’d rather take an advice from a random person on the internet (who was sent out a product to advertise) THAN an actual professional who studied/practice for years to give you a break down of the components of this product? Hmmkay.
Great video! Thanks so much for this very informative video. Only one criticism I have. Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is salt. Table salt is definitely not an industrial cleaner. I think you meant to say Sodium Chlorite.
I have used the V34 colour correction toothpaste and it has worked great until my teeth started hurting a little bit. It taste really good but it feel harsh.
Hi MegaMikey - I don't understand exactly what is going on with the dislikes on my video. Up until last week, there was around 320 likes and 12 dislikes, then suddenly, one day, it went to over 600 dislikes! The next day I checked, it was around 50, the next day, back up to 550, next day back to 50 and again today back up to 550!! The amount of views on those days doesn't change significantly when the dislikes go up, and how they go back down doesn't make any sense to me. I have the analytics and screenshots to show these major fluctuations. What I can say is that it is an entirely legitimate review, performed by myself, a professional dentist based in Brisbane, Australia, and that if there is some dodgy use of bots to dislike the video or something going on here, I can only imagine one entity that could be responsible for it (HiSmile themselves). It's very upsetting to me to see that the fake dislikes have had an influence on how people view the video as I worked really hard to make this video as interesting and impartial as possible.
@@MegaMikey No worries! Check out the dislikes now! Back down to 65 right now - which is still about 50 more than it was last week before this stuff started happening...
@@MethodDental HiSmile is most likely buying dislikes to lower the ranking of the video ( currently the first one that appears when searching). Luckily it seems that UA-cam is on your side and HiSmile doesn't know that it is just increasing your engagement and making your video share more lol
There appeared to be some sort of "bot" attack on the video a while back where there was 550-600 dislikes on the video on different days but there wasn't the same number of views to match the dislikes... Then the dislikes went away and it went back to normal. Weird.
A big reason the before and after photos are different is actually because the white balance was set to a cooler more blue tone that counteracts warm colors like yellow and orange
Review seemed professional and knowledgeable to me! At the same time he wasn’t impartial (as he said himself) and he is making money of making these treatments himself 🤷🏽♀️ that doesn’t make the video completely invalid but as a consumer I am still not sure about the products effects 🤔
While I am grateful for your work and your honest review. I didn't appreciate that the photo on your own site which is directly under "in chair" whitening uses the exact same lighting tricks to improve the result and the same which you call out in your video review of "hismile" product. I had initially subscribed and liked the content and now feel I would have to retract which frustrates me as you provided an easy to watch, understand and accept piece of content! Grrrrr
Hi Russell. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate the time and consideration you took in watching and reading our content to give this feedback. I understand what you mean with the photos on our own page about teeth whitening. However, I can assure you the photos are taken with the exact same camera, with the exact same settings, taken in the same room with the same lighting conditions. It is all controlled - like the images of my own teeth before and after using HiSmile. I can see what you mean with how the lighting appears differently in the before and after but it is not on purpose as the images are not edited at all apart from cropping to show only the relevant area around the smile. I am 100% honest with my patients about the expected results with teeth whitening procedures and I do not engage in purposeful deception, unlike other companies.
I saw this product on Facebook and I was so close to buying it. I thought...you know what, I should probably do more research. I am so happy I found your video and saved myself some money! Thank you!
Saved me 50 quid... which literally about to buy it... amazing how people see celebs using these products which theyre being paid to do and are instantly duped into believing they work
Sorry for the necro-post (3yrs overdue..) but thanks to your review I'm glad I saved the cash following your review. Thank you for explaining the colour strip used by dentists - I'm no professional but the "redness" on the one supplied with the product had me suss, as well! Top effort - thank you for your honesty. Very refreshing on the interwebs 😂
I've been super paranoid about my teeth, but this video and your blog has reassured me greatly. Thanks! They may not look perfect, but at least my teeth are real
Please could you do an updated review of the whitening kit. They’ve updated there formula and a lot of people are saying that it now works unlike their old formula.
There will be no difference what so ever even with updated formulas they're not created by dentists so anything to do with teeth unless you're a fully licensed qualified dentist makes it illegal to do
to be honest idk why but my teeth got whiter after using it but they were not whiter in 8 shapes like they said but it was whiter for me and i was happy from the results . but ofc Dentist whitening teeth is much stronger and more safe
I'm glad you were happy with your results! Professional whitening systems are without doubt the most effective and safe way to whiten your teeth. I just get upset with their very misleading advertising. Claiming 8 shades whiter, using shade guides with red!?! teeth on it(seen in the video), using before and after photos with different lighting and settings, paying influencers who have veneers that cannot whiten to promote their product... All very deceptive things to do. The chemistry of the product suggests that there may be a very small whitening effect, but only under very acidic conditions - and they say their product is not acidic... If professional dentists advertised with such deceptive tactics, we would have our licence taken away!
Sorry you felt that way... I'm new to making videos and definitely no UA-camr. I just wanted to help! I'll keep trying to get better with my new videos 😁
Wow an informative video about a product he wants you to know is possibly not worth your time or money lol. I'm very appreciative of all the info in this vid. You guys should just look on the web for answers on Quora if you don't have time...
so it felt like what, 10 minutes? 15? What's the difference lol.... I don't know about anyone else but spending 10 minutes to result in saving $89? Sounds like its worth the time
Thankyou ! I was almost tempted. Do you have a recommendation for any home whitening products? Also thankyou I’ll be looking getting at an electric toothbrush.
Hi Fabian - we have a blog where we discuss all of the different options for teeth whitening, though we haven't reviewed the 3D whitening strips personally just yet... That might be a future video review for us 😁 You can find the blog here: www.methoddental.com.au/teeth-whitening-everything-you-need-to-know/
listen my pops always told me just put a bunch of baking soda on top of your toothpaste.. it works like a charm.. i went from yellow to white in about 2 weeks and had a noticeable difference after the first brush.
You said yourself you noticed some slight changes to your own teeth in the video and obviously the worse the teeth stains are the longer it will take to whiten them. Maybe you need to do it a little longer? After all if you want a natural teeth whitening kit you can’t expect the same results that a kit filled with un natural chemicals does! Worked well for me but my teeth aren’t as stained.
Hi Kinan! Thank you so much for your comment! I always like to hear other perspectives. You're right, I could give this product a little more time to work. But, the "slight changes" I refer to could have been explained more completely in the video. Basically, some minor dehydration effects (which temporarily whitens teeth) were seen after each use, but gone within around 10 minutes of rehydration with saliva. I also used the whitening pen with gel applied directly to the teeth at least three times during the 6 day period. There are a few problems I have with giving it more time though. HiSmile are the ones claiming these amazing results in such short timeframes - not me. They put misleading advertisements and videos (I have several examples which I may show in another video) all over the internet that show teeth that are far more yellow and stained than mine with amazing results. Sodium Chlorite, their (only?) active ingredient, has some very weak evidence for use as a teeth whitening agent, but only under extremely acidic conditions which their gel is not, and at a very high concentration which would be unsafe in the mouth. Sodium Chlorite is almost always produced in industrial processes as well and they have not produced any evidence to show that their production only uses "natural" ingredients. All of the other ingredients have no whitening effects (Sodium Bicarbonate does, but only when applied externally as an abrasive) and for all we know, it could be produced in a factory somewhere with no "natural" ingredients at all, since they do not have information on the box or gel about the country of origin. Also, as they claim their results are to be seen after only 6 days of treatment, I would have to spend a lot more money buying a lot more gel from them for something that is extremely unlikely to work. So, as a dentist, I'll always recommend products that are proven to work and safe, with the proper evidence and track record behind them. I hope that explains why I wouldn't bother to continue to use their product.
How much does professional teeth whitening cost? I see you’re a Brisbane dentist and I happen to be a Brisbane resident so was wondering what you charge! Also how can I contact you if I want to look into it properly
Hi Knarfe! Great to see a fellow Brisbane resident on here! We have take-home whitening kits with trays that fit your teeth perfectly and the highest and safest concentration of gel that can be supplied for $299. We call it "Lifetime Whitening" because we supply free top-up gels every time you return for your check up! There's also the option for "in-office" whitening which typically gives you the same results, but in just over an hour, for $699. That includes the take-home whitening too. But you might like to check out our blog on teeth whitening options because some people can get away with simply using a good quality whitening toothpaste or 3D whitening strips www.methoddental.com.au/teeth-whitening-everything-you-need-to-know/ It also helps to know why your teeth are discoloured so the best option can be recommended 😊 If you visit that link to the blog, you'll also be able to find our contact details or book online!
Can you review Novashine next? They use Hydrogen Peroxide and include MSDS on their website and whatnot. I think they are less of a scam than this company but want to see what your opinion is.
I had a quick look at Novashine on their website (I had never heard of it before) and it appears that they supply 6% Hydrogen Peroxide gel. I cannot recommend the use of such strength of gel without professional supervision, an examination to ensure there is no cavities or gum disease, and definitely cannot encourage the use of such strong gel without custom-fitted trays made just for your own teeth. With the supplied mouthpiece there is a risk that the gel will go all over your gums and burn them! Also note that the blue lights seen in all of these different devices do absolutely nothing. Hope that helps!
I tried Novashines guys kit. Worked really well probably because of that Hydrogen peroxide you mentioned. I'm sure an office might be the most traditional and guaranteed way but whatever it was only 60 bucks and my teeth are white now lol
Hey they came out with new formula for this same product and I tried it, saw my teeth get 2 shades lighter at least. It’s that new formula PAP+ . It’s very new, they launched in 2021 so this is outdated now. FYI for everyone watching, this is their old product line which didn’t have the formula they use now.
Nina, it totally depends on what you're trying to achieve and why your teeth are discoloured. We have a blog on all of the options here: www.methoddental.com.au/teeth-whitening-everything-you-need-to-know/ I would never recommend buying anything teeth whitening products from the internet without knowing 100% the source and quality of the ingredients (HiSmile do not mention where their product is made, but I believe it's China) and I would always recommend you seek advice of your trusted dental professional for what might work best for you. Crest (Oral-B) whitening strips and Colgate Optic White toothpastes are relatively cheaper options that appear to have some effectiveness because the ingredients are legit, and professional whitening systems tend to work best! Hope that helps! 😊
Well dang. I bought it without doing my homework and now I have to deal with those consequences. But I guess I will give it a go. Never hurts to try? This video was very helpful, thank you! Cheers from Southern Oregon, USA
Great review. Almost bought it myself until I saw this. However, when you applied the gel on day one, you placed it on the bottom. Hismile says you’re supposed to place the gel on the front part of the mouth guard (where the front of your upper and bottom teeth would touch). Did you apply the gel in the same way as day 1? Doubt it would make much difference, but that would be interesting to see if it made a difference.
If you watch closely, you'll see me apply the gel to the front of the mouthpiece on both sides, as per instructions from HiSmile. So the gel does touch both sets of teeth - upper and lower.
Now Hismile use a different formula (PAP+). Bought their kit about a month ago. At first it seemed my teeth were actually whiter after 6 sessions but very soon after they actually looked yellower, dimmer and less shiny. No sensitivity. They claim that no harm is done to the enamel but I'm scared this damaged my teeth. Did this happen to anyone else?? Can you please comment on this @Method Dental ? Thank you
Yikes, I thought the PAP+ would be remineralizer. Mine's arriving soon. I guess I can't make my teeth much worse so I'll try it and record the progress.
I see a lot of people saying that “the good thing about a dentist telling us this is that he has no reason to lie.” I ask those people to look in the description, read his blog, especially the “in chair” whitening which is almost the exact same thing as this product just without the light. His product even comes with a tray and gel and even claims to do the same “8 shades whiter” whitening that Hi-Smile does. If you really want to find out if these things work, ask your personal dentist instead of listening to one who has a competing product on the market and has a clear ulterior motive.
Please know that a professional, in-chair whitening services are nowhere near a competing product due to the extremely high concentration of the gel that is used and the very high potential for things to go wrong if used incorrectly. Using hismile at all or even incorrectly will usually not result in any problems - it just won't whiten your teeth. The products that we use are dangerous and restricted to dentists only - how could that possibly be available to purchase from a company like HiSmile? You might be able to get something dodgy from alibaba or eBay but I would never, ever recommend trying that... Also, how can my professional services of home whitening or in-chair whitening compete with a product that is available worldwide? Only people who can come to my surgery can receive my services. If you cared to look at any of my other videos or blogs you'd see that I'm a caring, friendly dentist, who just wants to help inform people about oral health and how they can stay healthy. Seriously, please try it - look at our other resources and tell me that I have an ulterior motive. You are right about one thing - ask your trusted dental professional before proceeding with any teeth whitening 👍
It’s important to hedge your statements in this I would argue. Without further analysis or research into the photos I would not definitely say that the lighting is the crucial part of what makes the teeth appear whiter, I think it is likely due to the exposure settings, over exposing always makes my teeth look whiter no matter the lighting conditions whereas more intense light makes the stains appear more obvious. That’s why I believe this is likely from camera overexposure.
Did you take before photos with controlled lighting and camera settings? That way you can see if there are any legitimate results at the end of your 6 days! These photos also help with refunds as some other commenters have mentioned when it didn't work for them.

Thank you Keilah! So great to hear that you're in the dental industry too! Keep helping to spread the word about dodgy companies and products like this 😊
What really gets me though is that I do a professional review of this product with absolutely no outside influence but there's still people out there accusing me of being dishonest...
Hmmkay.
@@keilahtx I'm mature enough to say that my opinions are not a fact. All the best. 😁
It taste really good but it feel harsh.
it looked to good to be true, so that's why i googled it up and thanks for your perfect review. Amazing eyes u have.
Good review! You deserve more subs.
You are too kind! We've got to do more great videos to deserve more subs!
all the other reviews i could find were of people who were sponsored by the brand, was looking for a non-biast review- thank you!
There can't be this many positive comments with a dislike ratio that is almost double the like ratio. Is this review valid or not?
@@MethodDental Wow. Thank you for the reply AND the review!!
Please do an updated video with the new formula x
Watching this while taking my HiSmile packages from the mailman 🙂💔
If it didn't work for you, I hope you got your money back 👍
While I am grateful for your work and your honest review.
Thank you!
You were absolutely right to do more research! We're so happy we could help 😊
i had it in my cart ready to buy it thank you so much for doing this 😭 i’m sure u saved so many people too
I thought it was smart for me to watch this vidoe before I place my order. And I just changed my mind
Quality review! Their ads are all over Instagram, and I was wondering if it actually works
Saved me 50 quid... which literally about to buy it... amazing how people see celebs using these products which theyre being paid to do and are instantly duped into believing they work
I was about to buy this, good thing I found this video.
I was almost fooled, thanks so much 🙏🏾
You're welcome 😊
Sorry for the necro-post (3yrs overdue..) but thanks to your review I'm glad I saved the cash following your review.
Thank you for explaining the colour strip used by dentists - I'm no professional but the "redness" on the one supplied with the product had me suss, as well! Top effort - thank you for your honesty. Very refreshing on the interwebs 😂
Thank You, We need more honest people in the world like you. Not just another marketing machine. 👍🏽
There will be no difference what so ever even with updated formulas they're not created by dentists so anything to do with teeth unless you're a fully licensed qualified dentist makes it illegal to do
3 years later they had weird paste for sale with UA-camrs who've lost their sole advertising it.
Thank you for your honesty Dr!!! 💖🙏🏼
No worries Julie! I hope to review more products in the future to help people avoid bad products and also to improve their oral health 😁
Good thing I always come to UA-cam to find out first, before buying some thing. Thank you,for your thoughtful review.
to be honest idk why but my teeth got whiter after using it but they were not whiter in 8 shapes like they said but it was whiter for me and i was happy from the results .
but ofc Dentist whitening teeth is much stronger and more safe

Can you review Snow White Teeth Whitening?
I was just about to buy this product then found this. Thank you very much. Just subscribed
Glad to have helped! 😊
Thankyou ! I was almost tempted. Do you have a recommendation for any home whitening products?
Also thankyou I’ll be looking getting at an electric toothbrush.
thanks for sharing your review and thanks because I could save my money.
We love saving people money!
Thank you for your expertise and honest advice. What is the best way to whiten teeth?
Can you please review more teeth whitening products like the 3D white strips? I would love to know a professional’s opinion
A hero of the internet, saving people from these shitty scams
Thank you 🙌
I noticed no differences when using HISIMILE. I got much better results using the Oral B whitening strips!
For sure! 😊
What toothbrush do you use? Thanks for taking the time to do this review for us.
Smh. Most of my friends have tried it and their teeth didn’t get any whiter. 😂😂😂
Upsetting that their marketing works so well for such a poor product isn't it...
Thank u for posting this video…. Straight forward and excellent video quality
But you might like to check out our blog on teeth whitening options because some people can get away with simply using a good quality whitening toothpaste or 3D whitening strips www.methoddental.com.au/teeth-whitening-everything-you-need-to-know/
It also helps to know why your teeth are discoloured so the best option can be recommended 😊
If you visit that link to the blog, you'll also be able to find our contact details or book online!
Thanks so much for your honest review…and from an actual dentist no less.
Thank you! I had a feeling it doesn't work.
Your feelings were correct! 😉
You’re awesome for doing this! Thanks you so much!
@@MethodDental thanks for the feedback!
I tried Novashines guys kit. Worked really well probably because of that Hydrogen peroxide you mentioned. I'm sure an office might be the most traditional and guaranteed way but whatever it was only 60 bucks and my teeth are white now lol
I tried it. Worked as advertised. Good stuff. Went from a 5 to a 1 in about 4 uses
@@landonwolf3011 did it make your teeth sensitive ?
Hey they came out with new formula for this same product and I tried it, saw my teeth get 2 shades lighter at least. It’s that new formula PAP+ . It’s very new, they launched in 2021 so this is outdated now. FYI for everyone watching, this is their old product line which didn’t have the formula they use now.

Excellent review. Thanks for taking the trouble to post.
3:55 WhAt KiNd Of SoUrCeRy Is ThIs?!?!?
found this video and this channel yesterday and ive become addicted
is there any other brand or something that you would recommend then?
Nina, it totally depends on what you're trying to achieve and why your teeth are discoloured. We have a blog on all of the options here: www.methoddental.com.au/teeth-whitening-everything-you-need-to-know/
I would never recommend buying anything teeth whitening products from the internet without knowing 100% the source and quality of the ingredients (HiSmile do not mention where their product is made, but I believe it's China) and I would always recommend you seek advice of your trusted dental professional for what might work best for you.
Did it every work?
Great review. Almost bought it myself until I saw this. However, when you applied the gel on day one, you placed it on the bottom. Hismile says you’re supposed to place the gel on the front part of the mouth guard (where the front of your upper and bottom teeth would touch). Did you apply the gel in the same way as day 1? Doubt it would make much difference, but that would be interesting to see if it made a difference.
If you watch closely, you'll see me apply the gel to the front of the mouthpiece on both sides, as per instructions from HiSmile. So the gel does touch both sets of teeth - upper and lower.
Seconds away and was in my bag. So so glad this stopped me
Ugh I literally just brought it
Me too today I’m on the phone waiting for them to answer so I can cancel my order 😂
6:10 in every before and after picture the skin tone is NOTICEABLY whiter in the after. Like WOW didn't know this stuff whitened your entire face!!
Ok it doesn’t work what else can I do to get whiter teeth
I used HiSmile and it did nothing. Save your money and just get crest white strips instead
Or Novashine. The only other reasonable player in my opinion
Good thing I ordered it from Amazon, they'll give you money back if it's false advertisement or anything.
Thanks so much I was about to order one
I'm glad I helped save you from it! 👍
In line with all the other comments, extremely grateful for this review.
When something sounds too good to be true it probably is.
Thank you for your honest review. You just saved me a lot of money.
Thank you! You saved me $60 ;)
We're so glad you found this before ordering!
Thank you, doctor. I was just about to order it but decided to first search for reviews.
i still bought it, and currently using it
Did you take before photos with controlled lighting and camera settings? That way you can see if there are any legitimate results at the end of your 6 days! These photos also help with refunds as some other commenters have mentioned when it didn't work for them.
