such a shame only the character portraits look nice, the entire game feels empty and soulless, like they spent 5 years making a rip off stardew valley with 1/10th of its original charm lol
@@shun2702 Except, Stardew Valley is a subpar rip off of many Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games and lacks the character/town/animal charm of many games previously made by HM/SoS. one thing i love about the game is the sound design!! it’s retro and yet so new. it’s really well done. The villagers don’t talk but their little dialogue noises vary person to person! everything from walking to the rain sounds so lovely in this game!

my only complaint about the game is the days feel very short. I feel like I'm always rushing around to get somewhere only to be able to do it for 5 minutes before I have to go back to sleep

Fun fact I had to learn because I missed it in a tutorial: You can use the pickaxe for the dig site as well. I assume also for regular buried stuff, but haven't tried it yet.
A had a rough experience with saving as well. My game crashed as I went to sleep - usually I save at the start of the day - and I had to redo a day or two as a result. Granted my game has not crashed since, it was only the one time, but now I save every night before bed just in case. I'm a 90's kid so it really just takes me back to that era of Final Fantasy where you had to manually save the game; I didn't even know it autosaved like you mentioned! Great review :]
You can use your pickaxe to dig up artifact spots, if you prefer to bring that along instead of the shovel in case you want to gather some stone while you're out and about, just to let everyone know. :)
I have a couple of issues with the game (mostly nitpicky) 1. I dont know how to pick up furniture, i looked in the control options, but i couldn't find anything about moving furniture after you had placed it. 2. I wish the days were longer. I'm always struggling to get back to my home before my character falls asleep. 3. I really dislike how small the inventory space is at the beginning of these games, i usually am able to work with it in other games. But the number of different tools that i need to have on me to be efficient takes up half of the first inventory bar that you start with. I was able to get the bag upgrade, but with the sheer amount of different items to forage and gather that im always having to choose what to leave behind to pick up the next day. I would have been ok with just going back and forth to drop off stuff at my farm. But the days are too short for that.
1- use you pickaxe. 2-upgrade you skill in the statue of dragon for get bonus for more recover in stamina. later you get more stamina advance more in the game history. 3-you get more big inventary buying in the shop upgrade.when you get more rank in you town doing quest can buy more upgrade.
Okay gotta ask, because this will make or break the game for me: when you run out of energy during the night, do you "pass out" like in Stardew Valley? And if you do, does someone like Harvey put you in bed and take your money? I ask because that is one of the things that pissed me off the most about my Stardew time and made me less inclined to play the game. Like...I'm okay if they take some of my stamina as a punishment, or even just LESS gold. But the punishment shouldn't be so severe.
@@maurapacheco251 Oh thank goodness, I'm 100% okay with that punishment! Seems fair. It actually made me dislike Harvey as a character in SV because like, I did not ASK for him to come and rescue me! And then take my money? Who does that? Imagine finding someone on the ground and dragging them home and then just taking money out of their pocket for your troubles, lmao. Glad this game doesn't do that!
I have been searching HOURS for a farming sim similar to Stardew Valley, and I stumbled across this one. And i am sold! Cannot wait to go home and play, it looks so adorable
@15:09 i don't think i understand - so if you save only in the journal, it won't cause issues? sorry, i listened to the explanation a couple times but it just didn't make sense to me! thank you for the great video, i loved it !
it sounds like the journal allows for multiple save files, while going to sleep is just one autosave file. i think if you were playing and realized you missed something from 2+ ingame days ago, you wouldn't be able to go back if you were just sleeping cuz that's just one save slot being overwritten every time you go sleep. what she explained in this video was, if you decide you want to have 2 playthroughs then you have to be careful cuz the game doesn't make a new autosave file. if you sleep, it'll overwrite the same autosave even though it's 2 different playthroughs. you would need the journal to keep more than one save file
The lack of multiple saves is really a drawback, but in general I'm loving the game, specially the characters, specially the romanceable ones, I can't decide between Hayden and Valen xD
I also played about 30 hours so far and while I love it after year 1 there is nothing much to do you cant progress past 4 hearts in romance the story just stops and so do the mines I can't wait for more though keep in mind its not finished at all
As someone who just got Stardew Valley & I’m getting frustrated with the lack of in-game directions (I literally have no idea what I’m supposed to do), how easy is this game to play/ understand for a beginner?
This is easier than SDV to get your head around what to do. There is a lot of running around fulfilling orders from your neighbors and a lot of directed progression. I love SDV and the freedom it grants the player. But Fields of Misteria is fun and really easy to pick up.
I don't have a ton of furniture in game yet, but I do know the chair I have cannot be interacted with, and the only storage I've seen is the storage chest.
I have a question about the time mechanics. Is it just time progression of the day or is it "forced" time like in Stardew Valley? I do not enjoy the always looming deadline of "be back at the farm OR ELSE" time running out aspect. In what should be a relaxing and chill kind of game, this creates pressure and a bit of anxiousness when I want to relax! That's why I could never get into Stardew Valley.
It's like Stardew Valley. And the game is a farm sim RPG like Harvest Moon, people can find them relaxing but you have to improve how you administer time. The kind of game you want is something like Animal Crossing.
I have a genuine question and tried to research it myself and couldn’t find a real answer but I’m genuinely curious and want to learn and am in no way trying to be rude. Why would someone use she/he/they pronouns but not him/her? I know that’s not the point of this video, but I want to be knowledgeable and respectful 😄
For sure! For me it is that I am equally comfortable with folks using either she/her or they/them for me, and that my own gender identity is hard for me to pin down at times haha. But I think everyone's own personal experience with that will be slightly different so that just my own feelings on it!
can you switch combat to an “attack only if agitated” setting like in coral island? combat is always the thing that stresses me out about farming games haha
gret review! i think my personal issue is that you can only talk to the villagers once at a given time/location. i'd love being able to trigger a dialogue from them multiple times, even if their lines are repeated. even better if they have lots of dialogue changes! but again, i'm still at the beginning of the days--can you do that down the line or is it planned for their later updates?
I actually loooove the fishing in this game. It also reminds me of Harvest Moon fishing almost but easier since you only have to tap it once but also you have to actively walk around to find fish instead like animal crossing which I also liked. I never liked Stardew Valleys fishing...
