Right!? It's hard not to notice how much content is cut when the scores suddenly change! Maybe they're just not too worried with keeping up the facade of consistency which I find a little puzzling but can still respect that chaotic energy.
The producers of After Midnight needs to have a conversation with the folks of Dropout's Game Changer to talk about editing around points. Also, James Davis needs to come back for another episode.
Yeah, it's kind of funny that a small company can manage the point editing way better than a huge TV station... On the other hand - if this is a *daily* (or in this case, nightly) show, I can't imagine how fast those poor editors have to work to meet the deadlines...
@midnight was the same way with magically appearing points. It's because of the tight editing deadlines for a topical show.
They should have gone the Whose Line route and just give out random points. The winners are just made up as well.

But it would help the show a lot if they reach out to other improv-based game shows to learn shortcuts or tricks on how to work around the cutting out of answers; or as @Leblribrbrrq said-go the route of Whose Line and don’t show the points at all on their podiums
I went to the live recording of the first episode… and it seemed like there was a lot of issues with the points… accidentally going to the wrong person and accidentally giving to many, taking them away, etc. I hope it will be ironed out as time passes.

I love this show, and I'm grateful for UA-cam because I haven't stayed up past midnight on purpose in like a decade.

Me too, but I really think 4x/week is asking a little much...and seems like a surefire way to guarantee that she'll end up losing her edge -- like most ex-comic late night hosts!

Does anybody else want to see Taylor just have her own traditional talk show? Like a monologue, and guests and music. I really feel like the production design and prescriptive nature of the flow of the show are limiting to her. I think she would kill with a Craig Fergusonesque vibe.

It was good but I think Max wasn’t quite ready for rapid fire improv, and Robby was throwing out curveballs left and right 😂

I really hope they start posting the full episode in one video, like the did for the first episode. It's gonna be tough for those of us who consume stuff online otherwise. I don't mind ads, just can't stand having to go through and play each video separately
Its been a week, and the show is mostly about promoting up and coming comedians. Give it a chance folks she is good enough to bring it home for good.

the cut from all 3 contestants with 400 points to Taylor saying "Max is in the lead with 700 points" was a lot!! That was incredibly obvious and it's telling me CBS is just editing out A LOT of stuff. Come on, guys!!

I’m honestly ok with this. Due to the show’s format and unscripted nature, some jokes will inevitably fall flat. If they don’t cut segments that just aren’t working, they’re going to lose viewers who get border by mediocre content. More isn’t always better.

Not Max Greenfield awkwardly spelling his entire name when nobody asked and it's also one of the most straightforward spelled-like-it-sounds names (his surname being a compound of 2 common words with no spelling variation!) 🤣😭

I've enjoyed the occasional "game" show over the years but just as a time filler; this is completely different. I've actually started to look forward to each upcoming episode in this new adventure for Taylor Tomlinson and CBS. As it evolves gradually over time the comedic talents introduced will settle into more improvisation instead of "obviously" scripted answers. I say that because I can without fear of reprisal.😂
The original version of this show (very similar) was inspired by the genre of UK panel shows. You will probably love those as well. You can watch most of the best ones for free on their official YT channels. Jimmy Car has put up many seasons of full episodes of his show "8 Out 10 Cats Does Countdown" which I feel is one of the best ones out there. He also does "Big Fat Quiz" and has posted many. Many seasons of "Taskmaster" is on their YT channel, and hilarious and absurd in the best of ways. Another great one is, "Would I Lie To You" and has been on for many seasons.
Taylor and everyone involved with After Midnight is doing a great job and I have no doubt this show will keep getting even better. I'm so glad the format is back and hosted by another talented comedian.

I agree with you but I also see what people mean with the complaints about the show. My hope is just that they give her enough time to evolve and grow the show into what it can be because there's a lot of potential here and she is hilarious I adore her

For the love of everything holy, upload videos in order! I could understand if it was in backwards order, but it's random. Colbert seemed to figure it out - it took a few years, though. Is it a CBS curse? Who is in charge of uploading content to a critical platform who doesn't understand this process yet?
Also, in the unlikely but not impossible event that you're self-destructively scrolling through YT comments, Taylor, the only reason I complain is because I enjoy your work and want to watch it as intended

I love you Taylor, I love the show. I'm so happy you're finding your way - even after Friday's hilarious challenges. We need you to say "points." I know you're trying to find your own way but there are three very good reasons for saying points. The first reason - saying "points" after something funny has gone beyond even @midnight. Comedians use it instead of laughing - even today. I hear it so often, and think back to where it came from. Bring Chris Hardwick on the show and have him pass the "points" torch...make it stupid. But second, and the most important reason is that it gives a clear break between the end of a response and the next one. The buzzer just doesn't do it the same way. It seems more like a sidenote and I don't even always hear it. I think it will pick up the pace and tighten the transitions. And third - the funniest reason. One of my favourite things was to watch Chris TRY to say points when he was laughing so hard that he couldn't talk. The SAYING of points gives context - horror, gross, shock - there's so many ways to say it.
I love the show - I will keep watching it, I promise, but "points" is a part of the format that shouldn't have been left behind. It's still part of comedy culture, and you have a short window here where you can make it your own. #downwiththebuzzer

They need to right better transitions or just be more clear when a bit is over. Half the time I think she's commenting on something that just happened and then no it's the lead in to a new bit. Also they need to let the "contestants" keep buzzing in to answer as many times as they still have funny things to say. More like Gamechanger on Dropout. I do love that they are showcasing different talent so often and just letting them be funny, I really hope the talent is being PAID well.

Points are all over the place so far but this is the worst segment - in steve harvey bit Max goes to 400 without explanation then final score was 700 with no joke in between. Editing needs to take into account scores assigned in cut jokes.
I suggest points can be taken away for bad jokes or at least not given for crap attempts.
But I'm used to UK game shows (where everyone is sitting and it looks more casual). I think this has potential for a similar comedy though when more embedded and relaxed
There’s a reason the UK shows don’t show scores visually usually, not to cut inappropriate jokes, to cut unfunny ones.
Just give Taylor a traditional talk show and give this show to Dropout.
