I know I'm late to the party here but I gotta say Atom that I really enjoy watching Sam do his thing. It benefits everyone and your channel so that's really cool.I always liked watching pro's at work and I'v learned so much by watching you both. Thanks to you and Sam for these videos.
I had always done a quick drybrush from dark to light colors for fur areas - however I really like the "rainbow" treatment of bands of color put into place. Gives a nice even tone and control over the range of colors. Awesome to see! Thanks for the great tips and cool videos!
such a simple color scheme and it looks amazing. I'm sitting here and I am painting the "gw" way, think I need to rethink what I am doing with my life now.
+lovesmuffins123 I don't know if you need to rethink what you're doing with your entire *life* but we can all certainly learn a thing or two about painting from Sam.Thanks for watching!
+Tabletop Minions HaHa, I have had a few of those "why am I making painting hard?" moments over the last few months. Thanks for the enlightenment! keep up the awesome work
You guys should measure out a spot on the table and make a mark on the table. That way Sam can just place minis down on the mark. so the camera will focus more.
This was such a great tutorial. Helped me immensely with some gnolls I'm working on for DnD. What is the paper he's using on the wet palette? Looks too thin to be parchment paper.
Just tried this on a Chaos Warriors. My painting skills are a bit rusty, so I wasn't sure how well I'd be able to pull it off ... so easy! I haven't even washed it yet, and it looks good to go.
Great work and good tutorial! Is there a reason other than "I like it" for the blue/black as opposed to a brown/black or pure black that might feel more realistic?
+Robert Ruby Hmm. None of my Frostgrave guys are wearing wolf pelts. I think I'm doing it wrong, they should definitely be wearing wolf pelts. Thanks for watching!
well my war band is kit bashed...I used wolf pelts from 40k and green stuff to winterize them appropriately...I have an issue with half dressed warriors in a frozen tundra...lol
+hackerism1 It's a bit of a trick, actually: I've found that many people listen to my videos while painting, but don't always 'watch' so when there's something on the screen that I'd like them to really take notice of (like the short ad for my t-shirt pre-sale) then a noise like that works well to get people's visual attention back to the screen for a seconds. Thanks for watching!
I'm new to wargamming. I've been watching a lot of these painting tutorials for the past month before I get my first minis lol. Just wondering what type of glue should I use for Warhammer minis?
+Kevin Lorenz Yeah, I'm trying to find my groove with the close up cam. I was using a webcam for this episode, and it just didn't work as well as I would have liked. One of the reasons for the limited edition t-shirt sale I'm doing is so I can try to get a better camera for close ups, or a macro lens for my DSLRs. But I'm working on it. Believe me, I want to fix it. Thanks for watching!
Tabletop Minions I hope you didn't take that as an offense. Your videos are incredibly helpful and I'm thankful for every single one you put out there :)
Plastic fur is MURDER!! Just ask PETA..... *_palmface_* Great video by the way. I have been thinking about getting back into minitures and wargaming after a 10 year break and your videos are what have made me decide to take the plunge.
Nope, but both he and I are in a horror movie (that doesn't really have zombies in it it... it's complicated) called 'Dead Weight' that you can find on Amazon Prime video, if you have it. Thanks for watching!
Blackity-Blue, new favorite color description.
+SDub He needs his own paint line, the names would be *tight*. Thanks for watching!

+Daniel Mazmanian Embrace the brown rainbow. Thanks for watching!
I love how Sam has become much more confident in front of the camera, now he really looks like the pretty cool guy he is.
Yep, these episodes have been coming easier for the both of us. Thanks for watching!
nice tutorial,I'm off to painting some space wolves
+Eisenwulf666 They would be very good subjects for this kind of treatment. Thanks for watching!
How’d they turn out?
I don’t even paint minis, I just love these videos.
I've started to paint some critters from Dark Sword Miniatures and this was really helpful for when I'm painting their fur. Thank you so much :)
This helped me a lot. I'm not even close to the result in this video, but my Space Wolf pelts now look like something a bit more realistic.
+Васил Мирчев Always glad to hear when we help people paint better. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! I am currently working on Tau, but my second army is going to be Space Wolves. I've saved this video for when I get them eventually!
+Ivel W They are prime targets for fur painting tutorials. Thanks for watching!

Fantastic tutorial! THE best way to paint fur imo! Thank you so much!
+Chris Rhode He's very good. Thanks for watching!

sam and atom, keep up the great videos.
Im surprised no dry brush, i always find that really ties together and makes furs 1000% better and a finished product.
This was such a great tutorial. Helped me immensely with some gnolls I'm working on for DnD. What is the paper he's using on the wet palette? Looks too thin to be parchment paper.
It's either baking parchment or possibly dedicated 'wet palette paper' from the art supply store, cuz he fancy. Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial and perfect timing. Just got the zombicide dog companions. Definitely going to give this a go.
+Cyntax3rr0r Sam also did a 'How to Paint Zombicide Zombies' tutorial on this channel that you might also want to check out. Thanks for watching!

love the painting tutorials, please sir, can we have some more?
+Jordan Wright I have a few planned here and there, and Sam and I will be shooting two more in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching!
Looking forward to it!
Great video guys! I'm really liking these tutorials.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your techniques.
Lovely job I wish I had some fur to paint. I wish Sam had a UA-cam his painting tips are top notch. Can we have these painting vids every week..?
+SofakingHazed Probably not every week, but I do plan to keep them coming. Thanks for watching!
great vid I'll be using this technique for my Frostgrave warband...Love your stuff....
So for wolf pelt it looks like a timber Wolf pelt. There are more kinds of wolfs out there like gray Wolf and winter and various other kinds.
Awesome Cathedral shirt!
Another great tutorial. Keep 'em coming!
I love the guitar rift at the start
+hackerism1 It's a bit of a trick, actually: I've found that many people listen to my videos while painting, but don't always 'watch' so when there's something on the screen that I'd like them to really take notice of (like the short ad for my t-shirt pre-sale) then a noise like that works well to get people's visual attention back to the screen for a seconds. +Tabletop Minions I agree. The rift just right after the furry comment made me laugh.
Wait a minute ? The video doesnt film him add the sepia ink shade, is that basically a brown wash ?
Would be really helpful to find out
This series is great.
+Mitchell Gibson Thanks, we'll keep doing them. Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial. Really helpful for my Beastmen that I have to paint. Thanks.
Sam does great work. Thanks for watching!
Awesome tutorial! I'm curious what mini is that?
I have two questions
1. Where can I get this cool looking miniature
2. Can I use the same technique for a white wolf
Sharing this around. Great tutorial.
+Wild1chevy Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
right off to the blog
you are the best painter ive seen. I prefer to keep my blues and browns on seperate wolves...either of so to speak....I am a rookie tho
I agree, Sam is a great painter. Thanks for watching!
Tabletop Minions the skin video is mind blowing :) thanks
Is there a video about wet blending?
+Khaador Not yet, but once I finally get the hang of it, I'll probably do one. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this, I have to paint a unit of Warpborn Skinwalkers comming up :)
+evileyeball They're furry! Thanks for watching!
Awesome tutorial!
What wet pallet do you use?
+TheManAmongAll I think Sam uses a Masterson Sta-Wet wet palette. Thanks for watching!
I haven't found much in the way of tutorials for painting scales - any chance you guys would do one? :) Great vid, btw
+Rookbrains I'll mention it to Sam. Thanks for watching!
Awesome :)
I might have missed it, but what model is this?
Cool,nice tutorial.
+Conan the Barbarian Thanks, and thanks for watching!
What is the name of the model Sam was working on?
Great painting and very cool mini. What's the name of the mini he used?
Lathiem, Oak Leaf - found it.
these tutorials are fantastic, thank you very much
Hey !
I'm beginning and I was wondering if Sam underpaints his figures before applying those different technics. Could you clarify that please ? :)
You're a Godsend!
Well, Sam and I both appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
Got some Khorne doge's/Vampire count Dire wolves to work on, this will be helpful for that.
+PhazeKnight74 Yeah, I have Chaos Warhounds that I might build eventually. Thanks for watching!
i refer to that highlighting technique as "mildly-damp brushing"
what model is that i really want to get it
What is the name of the minin model please.
Sam was coming back from the snap before it was cool. So far ahead of the game.
So, why add blue to the black? Sorry for the noob question...
excellent video :) clear and easy to follow, ty :) !!
I'm new to wargamming. I've been watching a lot of these painting tutorials for the past month before I get my first minis lol. Just wondering what type of glue should I use for Warhammer minis?
CA or super glue but depending on the army you choose look into magnetizing models b4 you start
Looks great!
Love The channel. Keep up The good work!
where is this model from ? =O
Thank you guys really good info!
Fantastic tutorial indeed! Thank you!!!
Cathedral? man has good taste in tunes.
Content wise another wonderful vid. Thumbs up! Critique (on a high level though): The close ups on the mini were super shaky/blurry and hard to watch.
+Kevin Lorenz Yeah, I'm trying to find my groove with the close up cam. I was using a webcam for this episode, and it just didn't work as well as I would have liked. Pretty helpful Video....Do u know where I can buy mini figures u can paint online if so what is the name of the mini figures...?
+NITTYPERRY You could probably find mini figures on Amazon. There are literally thousands of figures out there. Thanks for watching!
+Tabletop Minions what's a good brand to start with and what would be the name ...?
+NITTYPERRY It depends on what kinds of miniatures you like: sci-fi, fantasy, historical, etc. Do a search for those. Thanks for watching!
+Tabletop Minions Whats the name of the mini figures like samurai and ninjas or ones that have pistols..
+NITTYPERRY I typed 'ninja miniatures' into Google and found a bunch of stuff. I'd suggest you start there, you'll find all kinds of stuff.
Sam, the transparent drop on your palette, is it plain water or some kind of medium?
At about 2:05 he says it's a mixture of distilled water and acrylic retardant.
Thank you Bryan181. I jumped ack and forth looking for a clue what that is... but apparently I sniper-jumped to exactly the wrong minutes.
You're welcome. I happened to be glancing at the comments just as he mentioned it :)
nice!
Good tutorial
Nice tutorial my friend
What mini is that?
Thanks for the tips.
Also cant wait for the shirts.
+Samuel Barger We'll keep doing them. We're planning on shooting a couple more in the next week or two. Thanks for watching!
2:56 "A progressive rainbow of brown"
I can't tell if this is an IT recruiting video or a painting video at this point.
Plastic fur is MURDER!! Just ask PETA..... *_palmface_*
Great video by the way. I have been thinking about getting back into minitures and wargaming after a 10 year break and your videos are what have made me decide to take the plunge.
Glad to hear you're getting back into it. Thanks for watching!
Tabletop Minions what model is that can you please link me to it?
What is this miniature?
Thank you for the great vid! Now to experiment on my werewolves in Wrath of Kings!
+drums2well Oh yeah, they would be perfect for this kind of treatment. Thanks for watching!
what's the figure??
+Dawg Manila He mentions the manufacturer in the video (Enigma Miniatures) but the model's name is Lathiem. Thanks for watching!
Nice vid!
+Monte Cristo Thanks, we'll keep doing them. Thanks for watching!
why did I not watch this like two days ago before painting some green stuff fur on an ork #facepalm so simple!
Should help me with the dungeons and doggies :)
Nice.
Is this video in response to PETA?
+Fernando Gomez No, this video came out more than a year ago. Thanks for watching!
Nice tutorials. Might I add you have pretty eyes. :)
Is it a common thing to see people putting paint brushes in their mouth?
ua-cam.com/video/QtYFoY7Z700/v-deo.html
My only friend, the end
Sounded like the df twang
Brown 🌈
too wet for drybrushing, too dry for wet brushing = dank brushing.
Potentially, yes. Thanks for watching!
Tabletop Minions lol I just meant that could be a term for that sorta kinda dry brushing that is some times called for
"rainbow of brown" lel
Haven't the long haired guy played on the walking dead?
Nope, but both he and I are in a horror movie (that doesn't really have zombies in it it... it's complicated) called 'Dead Weight' that you can find on Amazon Prime video, if you have it. Thanks for watching!
SWEET. FUCKING. CATHEDRAL. SHIRT.
Thanks Uncle Atom! Thanks Sam! i.imgur.com/caJxd6e.jpg
You guys really need to get a better camera for the painting, it's almost unwatchable
Too poor to support your channel and my hobby, lol.
