Range Rover is my dream car, and I was wondering about some things about the car,Man this review is amazing, now I know basically everything about the car!
love love love your reviews... Very professional and detailed! I'll definitely check out your future reviews if I'm in the market for a new car... Keep it coming!
I have a clk mercedes w208 legendary is the cupholder directly over finicky trans switch get it wet which means spill any amount no shift maybe spend 700$.
Great review as aslways! Very detailed plus that u made a very good comparision between this, G wagon, X5 and GLS. I happened to watch your review on the x5 like 5 times before i purchased it earlier this year. Keep up the great work!
Another great and detailed reveiw, u really do produce excellent quality material. I agree with u as well, when it comes to the best Suv's the Range Rover is the King of the hill. There is no other that competes with luxury, comfort and off road capabilities quite like it. If u really want even more luxury and comfort to blow away the Lx 570 one should look at the Range Rover Autobiography Sv, in my opinion that is a better bang for buck than ever the Bentley Bentega cause the Sv autobiography almost matches the Bentega in luxury and attention to details and yet is the far better off road vehicle by a mile.
Just real quick wanted to comment on the rear seat fold-flat mention: they do fold flat. If you keep pressing on them and compress the cushions, they click and lock in the down position. Released with the seat recline handle. Source: own one.
In the U.K. you can buy the diesel hybrid version: 0-60 in 6.5 sec, 700ft/lbs combined torque, and 44 combined MPG with all the same off-road abilities. Hopefully it will be available here, with a plug-in option by the time I can afford one. Over the past 22 years I have owned, modified, abused, repaired, loved and hated 6 Rovers so far (2 range RR's and 4 Disco's) all of them off-roaded to the limits of their abilities and would still prefer them over any "SUV" I could afford in the US. You should do a sequel by taking it to Hollister Hills SVRA, along with the Mercedes GL (FYI, the US diesel version is not available with the off-road package) and compare them in a real off-road situation. PS. I recognize your commute in the video as Kings Mountain Road above Woodside, climbs over 1600 feet in 4.2 miles.
I still don't know why this channel and "Every day drive" have not at least, 500.000 subscribers. Hey would be great if you someday review the Shelby GT350 or (and) the nissan GTR nismo.
You should have mentioned the Maserati Levante as a possible competitor. Although I understand that off-road capabilities are not the same. Nevertheless, they are not far off.
first, and awesome review as always. i live in europe and used to transport these cars for a living and i never saw a long wheelbase version. may be to large for us eurpeans and our smal roads
I'd prefer it if the infotainment system and the ac vents were reversed so that the screen would be closer to eye level and even with the instrument cluster.
One has to bear in mind, when he’s quoted fuel consumption figures, that a US gallon is only 80% the volume of an Imperial gallon so our economy figures look much better in the UK than they do Stateside! Not to mention also that our fuel costs soooo much more than it does in the States which is one reason that diesels have been so popular over here for years.
Funny how you can't get a RR in the color in 2018. I've read about owners getting 30+ mpg with the TD6. Amazing. And likely a mpg or 2 better with this engine in the Sport. If I had 80-100K to blow on a vehicle, a RR would be it.
also - diesel gets good acceleration and is a better engine in the lower range, which is where people mostly use their cars. also, turbo diesels get effortless acceleration because of the turbo. also - I don't know you should put Q7 audi and X5 bimmer on the same scale as regards off-road, as x-drive is way below quattro.
The lack of LED headlamps has nothing to do with the age of this car. RR Evoque is one year older and it recently got the upgrade as an option (at least in Europe).
+Li Michael land cruiser is not a luxury vehicle. it is a premium vehicle. the luxury twin is the lx 570. also, my statement was that the land cruiser is the best suv in the world. that means it's better as an SUV stock from factory than anything else, luxury or not.
I would say that the Land Cruiser is the most durable work truck. I have owned a 100 series from new in 1998 until this day. It's great but it doesn't drive like a current Range Rover. The V8 Land Cruiser, current model, has bombed sales-wise in Europe. Its just too truck like and big. There are plenty of 100 series and the smaller Land Cruisers around, which sold very well in their day, but I can count on one hand how many 200 series I see annually.
+Huw Williams that's correct. hence the Lexus lx twin of the land cruiser loses when it comes to best "luxury" suv to the range rover. if we were looking at it in pure capability perspectives, the lx and land cruiser would come out on top.
Mohammed Jaffer The Lexus has never been available here in the UK, but the Land Cruiser 100 and 200 has generally been specified up to Lexus standards with leather, climate [4 zone], touch screen navigation, fake wood and so on. The V8 petrol was initially available but I believe only diesel has been offered for a number of years.
Hi alex , I want to buy a VW sedan ,but in the dealership sites they have the PZEV models and non PZEV ones , and the agent said to me the no big differnece in term of engine power, but the PZEV can be sold over all the US but the non PZEV will be sold in certain states , So is this just the diffrenece ? or there something else?
+Alex On Autos have you driven the F Pace? I have and the handling is so much better than this Land Rover. Also the 2.0 Diesal in the F Pace is great. Looking forward to your review on the F Pace
I will probably change my Honda CRV diesel for an F Pace some time next year. They are about the same size and although the Honda is far better value for money, there's just something about the Jaguar. The only car I ever regret selling, or at least miss very much, is the Jaguar XK8 that I exchanged for my Land Cruiser back in 1998. I swore I would buy another Jaguar some day and the F Pace is likely to be it. However, you can't compare a F Pace with a Range Rover Full-Fat. They are very different vehicles indeed in both concept, capability and size, let alone price. With the Range Rover I expect to tow 3.5 tons and fetch the cows on rough terrain. The F Pace is a nice all-road quality car that is a snug fit for four passengers.
Pretty obviously you should be comparing this RR with the North American built Mercedes GL Class, recently renamed to GLS Class or similar. Both vehicles share full time 4wd, V6 or V8 diesel engines or petrol engines. The Mercedes comes with an extra row of seats but otherwise they are very comparable.
The Merc has almost exactly the same capability as the Range Rover. I've owned several Range Rovers and regularly tow with it and gather cattle off road on my own farm. A friend is on his second Merc GL and has a much larger business than mine. The Merc is one of a large fleet of utility, commercial vehicles, trucks and tractors that he runs. Believe me, it's perfectly capable. For my own part, apart from the RR's, Ive owned the lot, from Isuzu Trooper, Mitsubishi Pajero, Nissan Terrano, various LR Defender and Discovery and currently the bigger Land Cruiser, plus Ford Ranger [we have one each of these, although he has three L200, a Nissan Navara and a Toyota Hi-Lux and smaller 90 series Land Cruiser as well. So I am and we are well qualified to know how the RR and Mercedes compare. He prefers the Merc and I prefer the RR. In truth and apart from the extra row of seats in the Merc, there's only personal preference to choose between them.
The Mercedes AWD system is capable for sure, but the approach, departure and breakover angles in the Range Rover are far superior to the GLS and the Range Rover can ford an additional 14 inches of water. Mercedes does not offer a locking rear differential in the USA and the software systems available in the Range Rover are much more off-road oriented than the GLS. The two are certainly comparable in the city or on teh farm, but if you want to go to Moab in your luxury SUV, the Range Rover can quite simply go places the GLS cannot.
I drive these things daily. Sometimes beyond their limit. If you care to believe that the RR is so much more capable, continue to do so. I personally prefer the Range Rover but would take the Mercedes to 99% of places where the RR could and could probably slightly re-route to avoid the 1% where it lags behind. In case you don't know, the trick with off-road driving is to avoid getting stuck or grounded, not trying to do so. I don't play these vehicles, neither does my friend. We work them, so I don't need to watch a video to know their ability or their limit, which is what they can do and, more importantly, what they cannot do.
Its not a case of being stubborn. I appreciate both vehicles and can compare them from direct experience. How many of this class of vehicle and which of these have you driven extensively? Oh and by the way, you should know that I don't give an even bigger shit that you don't give a shit. ROTFLOL.
An excellent SUV if you can get around its equally legendary poor quality, resale and reliability. If making service runs is not an issue for you, this may be the best luxury SUV in the land.
I agree. The top of the dash looks too plain and the ac vents don't belong in an English car. They don't belong on the XE, XF, nor F-Pace either. I approve of the vents and entire dash on the XJ. Just skippy!
roywhiteo5 yes they've gotten much better. Dougs Range Rover was built when Land Rover had BMW engines, and they were very problematic. The newer engines are much more reliable.
Alex have you got any information about reliability record of JLR group in recent years? Have they improved something? I used to have a P38 Range Rover. It was a fine and classy Luxury off-roader, but it spent more than half of it's life in the workshop and costed me a fortune during my ownership. I really wanted to hate it, but I just could not. So sad seeing it go as I could not afford it anymore.
I had a 2004 RR and it was very well built and reliable with only one exception, the poorly designed front differential and its alignment, which was a pure BMW design. Also didn't particularly like the underpowered and noisy BMW 3.0 diesel engine. Otherwise it was great. Not a single electronic problem while I had it. Bent a few body panels during the course of work. The factory fitted Goodyear tyres got very noisy on the road when they wore down but lasted better than average, at nearly 35,000 miles.
Did you really make a full video about a Range Rover comparing it to a g wagon, a jeep grand Cherokee, a Jaguar F-pace but not saying anything about the range Rover sport? Honestly we all got used to you comparing all truck with Chrysler trucks but I never thought it was possible to talk about a Range Rover without comparing it with its closest competitor, his younger brother the sport...

I don't think that the gas v6 is more economical than the gas v8? I've owned a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S v8 and it averaged 14mpg, and I knew a guy who had the cayenne v6 and he barely got 9. A small engine on a large, heavy, AWD SUV will have to struggle more than a larger one, and thus will burn more gas.
This is probably the best detailed review on any vehicle that I've seen!
Range Rover is my dream car, and I was wondering about some things about the car,Man this review is amazing, now I know basically everything about the car!

Excellent job on the review!
cigarette socket is placed between two cup holders @11:45. Perhaps somewhere under the seat there is a hidden compartment full of spare fuses?

The most informative car review ever
Really enjoy my 2015 Range Rover Supercharged V-8. If I had to do it again, I would definitely purchase this vehicle again.
Alex you have not detailed how the all wheel drive works. Please make a video comparing the all wheel drives and which one is best
Just real quick wanted to comment on the rear seat fold-flat mention: they do fold flat. If you keep pressing on them and compress the cushions, they click and lock in the down position. Released with the seat recline handle. Source: own one.

EXCELLENT REVIEW THANK YOU
Great review. Thank you.
REally good commentary.
You should have mentioned the Maserati Levante as a possible competitor. Although I understand that off-road capabilities are not the same. Nevertheless, they are not far off.
The Jaguar, Maserati, Alfa, and Porsche are smaller vehicles. RR Velar would be the same size
King of the garage!!
Great and detailed review, thanks.

can you do a review on the bed lx570?
Great review bud
Great review!
This gentleman’s review is awesome 👍🏻 speech and articulation are awesome as well, considering my native language is Russian. Like it!
nice review did you review the Range Rover LWB Autobiography?
I'd prefer it if the infotainment system and the ac vents were reversed so that the screen would be closer to eye level and even with the instrument cluster.
great review, what color scheme is this?

Great job as usual Alex. I know the Infinity QX80 does not have as broad of a range as the Range Rover but what are your thoughts on this comparison?
Oooh, this.
Are u going to do a video of the new Lincoln Continental
Good job man !
please review 2017 jeep grand Cherokee trailhawk with hemi v8 engine

"The best SUV in the world" title belongs to the Toyota Land Cruiser. What you have here is probably "The best Luxury SUV in the world".

Hmmm, I'm not sure about the center stack. Despite the glossy wood, I don't have that lush luxury feeling.

yes, it's too plain. I agree. It's a risk when designers pursue a nihilist or clean look approach.
has land rover reliability gotten better? doug demuro had 10k worth of warranty work done on his 06 range rover after 3 years of ownership
roywhiteo5 yes they've gotten much better. Dougs Range Rover was built when Land Rover had BMW engines, and they were very problematic. The newer engines are much more reliable.
please do a review of Porsche Macan
Alex have you got any information about reliability record of JLR group in recent years? Have they improved something? I used to have a P38 Range Rover. Ah European cars. I had the same kind of time with an S-Class. They always tried to make me feel lucky that I was having a European problem.
That things a beast 😍
Range rover sport review please :)
Nice Ford Explorer Luxury Ediition
Is this body on frame?
How does it compare to the LR4?
The LR4 is is a bit smaller, it would compete with the Lexus GX whereas this would compete with the Lexus LX.
wouldnt it compete with the G-Wagon
Did you really make a full video about a Range Rover comparing it to a g wagon, a jeep grand Cherokee, a Jaguar F-pace but not saying anything about the range Rover sport? Honestly we all got used to you comparing all truck with Chrysler trucks but I never thought it was possible to talk about a Range Rover without comparing it with its closest competitor, his younger brother the sport...
It's really funny when you seat in the truck and closing the cover
Land cruiser alllll day
0-60 in 10 seconds.... What a joke
Underwood95 the land cruiser?
+Fadic 4 yes
autotk.com/0-60-times/toyota/land-cruiser/
+underwood95
If you are looking for a sport's car, look elsewhere. This is a different beast.
As for Land Cruiser, yes it is a quality vehicle. I own a Land Cruiser, the big 100 series, but I've also owned a few Range Rovers, although not this current model. The current Land Cruiser is a capable vehicle but is outclassed by the current Range Rover, unless very long term durability is the primary imperative. That's not the same as reliability or build quality. I found the reliability and build of the Range Rover to be actually better than that of my LC while I had it. However I had confidence that the LC would be the one to keep long term and I've not been disappointed.
Please review the 2017 Subaru Outback. WHO IS WITH ME!!!
The name Bentayga isn't unpronounceable. That Bentley is making a crossover is unspeakable!Except that I'd like one. Sweat!
This platform with a hose-down simple interiour would make me weak at the knees. I doubt I could afford it even without all the luxury stripped out.
Wow, over 100k for the model he's driving and no adaptive cruise control. How much does one have to spend to get that? Ridiculous!
$510
Are reliabilities on these SUV's better nowadays?
No...They're still @ the bottom of the list in reliability.
Improving tho
Crank shaft breaks in Europe but not many cases in USA
Make sure you have a reliable car handy if buying this...
I have a feeling most will still pick the the 500HP because they have the $$$ so they can show off.
Alex, please just review the vehicles that most people will buy and affordable , this is not the the one
Strange how the US doesn't get so many types of cars for eco reasons, but US manufacturers still make cars with big engines....
Because they want you to buy gas
This thing is huge....
