I took some dance in college and loved it, but always wanted to go en pointe, but it’s an unlikely dream for many reasons. I am here for every video! My elder daughters just took me and my younger daughter and 1 granddaughter to see Cinderella at the Canton school of ballet just yesterday. As always, I wept at the beauty!
Love seeing Josephine and Katherine together! And this young lady is a credit to herself, her family, and her teacher - so composed, well mannered, articulate.
I love watching these clips even though I've never danced. I'm always so impressed by how mature and collected these dancers are. I wasn't this grown-up when I was 25 let alone at 14. 😅
I also though Josephine said "cowgirls" and was very confused for a moment. :) Katie's face was hilarious because she clearly had no idea what that meant!
I also wear a synthetic shank shoe, probably the same shoe she was fitted in here. For extra, extra longevity, I jet glue inside the platform when the shoe is new to seal it so no moisture from sweat can get in and soften the platform prematurely. You just have to remove the little pad and tape it back in when the jet glue is fully dried. Since she's doing a lot of toe hops, this might make a big difference for her as well, but I'm sure she's well practiced with jet glue to extend the life of her shoes anywhere they are softening.
I really love these kinds of videos. I mean I love all your content, but anything where Josephine gets to properly get into it is just *chef's kiss* Ooh, one side to pointe that might be cool is how do shoe choices work with costumes. Would love to see adaptations of pointe (and other dancing) shoes to work with overall costume designs and what dancers might have to do to make it all work for them as an ensemble 🤔
Be sure to check out the sister video on Kathryn's channel! ua-cam.com/video/Wka7lIYphvk/v-deo.html What else would you like Jo & Katy to talk about??? Comment below ;)
Thank you! You are all so nice and so interesting experiences! It's a pleasure to listen to your stories and advices! I miss Kathy classes so much! I had an accident one month ago and forced to stop. ❤
I've been thinking of trying the synthetic varieties of Grishko but the traditional ones are lasting me so ridiculously long i haven't had the chance (hard shank and not a huge amount of dancing)
I'm so scared of seeing the traditional shoes disapears in a few decades... But I'm glad the synthetics ones give more choices to dancers, and save them a few bucks.
@@oceaneo4603 i don't know if they'll ever disappear! Most professionals are still in Freeds I think. But if you are the kind of dancer that breaks shanks like twigs then yeah it saves money!!
Dina Tala'at Sayed Muhammad is one of the first bellydancer whom wore contemporary dresses on stage. Which reminds me of what said my art teacher when I was in school, each assignements he gave students must be differents from one another. I don't know about ballet competitions, what is allowed or not. But they are ways to make a varation your own, with another accessory, another costume, another way to do the character joyfull instead of sassy, angry insteas of sad, ... or may be add or alter some movements, ... It's also a way to make a stand, which is sometimes what art is.
Hi @ThePointeShop My pointe shoe fitter made me buy shoes that I have subsequently realised are too big for my feet. They are causing way more pain than my old tighter shoes on the big toe and bunions and my foot is slipping around and I don't feel secure at all. What can I do to this particular pair to make them wearable? Can I insert something in there in addition to my toe caps to make them work? I can't afford to buy a new pair right now 😩 Please help!
You do my makeup and nail polish to next year 2024 I have all dress for 5 days. I have 2 days now and ex toe pad to I have Pink point ballet shoes. In women. Size 45 I get Red point ballet shoes in October
What material are traditional shoes made of? In comparison to those synthetic ones. Is the whole shoe made from synthetic material, or is it just about the fabric?
It's more that the insides of the shoe are synthetic vs traditional - the fabric covering doesn't really determine the shoe's life. Traditional shoes are made up of layers of fabric, cardboard and paste while the synthetic shoes have plastics in.
It's the amount of training spent that is the difference not the "competitive" word itself. If a kid is taking ballet just as a hobby and spend less hours than those who really wanted to pursue it professionally then they can compete in that category.
I’m not a dancer, and I’ve never been in a pair of point shoes in my life because, but I find this fascinating and I watch them all the time
I've never even séén ballet in real life yet I'm here every video lol
(I do love dance)

seeing your videos makes me want to start dance again. it’s been 13 years 😅
I know ballet dancers have fantastic legs but Kathryn Morgan's are stunning.

Very interesting video!
I heard cowgirls too
😂
Hii, I'm early like omg 😌
Is it too late to start ballet in 5th grade?
I hear people having trouble with shoes but I've been in the same shoe my whole life. Bloch Grace.

I thought she said cowgirls too. This is fascinating. Best of luck to the dancer.
Why do they call it "pre-competitive" when the children DO compete, at least for honors?
It's the amount of training spent that is the difference not the "competitive" word itself. If a kid is taking ballet just as a hobby and spend less hours than those who really wanted to pursue it professionally then they can compete in that category.
Can you please share Charlotte's last name? I'd love to look up videos of her dancing!
