Very interesting, I remember learning about Bacillus anthracis (Anthrax) in university, scary stuff
For me was shocking to find out they conducted anthrax tests so close to human settlements.
We British have a track record of experimenting with such materials. We invented Novichok, an even scarier substance. We had it stored safely at Porton Down, but Russian military intelligence used it to try and murder one of their former agents on the streets of Salisbury, England. The agent and his daughter survived, a member of the public was killed.
It's worth adding, the island wasn't just sprayed with seawater, it was a seawater-Formaldehyde solution. This was part of the decontamination process, along with complete removal from the island of the entire topsoils from the initial contamination/detonation sites. That soil is probably stored now at Porton Down, as that's where all such material is handled, and subject to international inspections.
The Formaldehyde from the decontamination has actually caused the most verifiable damage to the surrounding sea, reefs, shellfish grounds etc., which are still only recovering very slowly.
The entire island was burned in 2022, a process of moor burning which is common in Scotland, usually on Grouse shooting estates.
Thank You for this nice completion!
It scares me how close it is to the mainland, even though the spores are probably dead there could be still some.
Yep, that rises some questions for me as well. Why they risked and conducted tests so close to humans?
@Smoto_ASMR well there has been many of occasions throughout history were the government has tested and experimented on us. I mean look at unit 731, even reading it makes my knees shake
It was declared fully decontaminated by 1990. There have been sheep living there, quite happily for a long time.
@@Smoto_ASMRwe were at war, simple as that. Didn't have the luxury of choice. The island had already been uninhabited for at least 50 years before the experiments were done.
Have you checked out Snake Island in South America?
I heard about snake island but I didn't checked it out.
