Amusement parks are happy places, filled with the joys of childhood and the exhilarating rush of fantastic rides to be dared. That was the vision of eccentric business man Nathaniel Winter when he opened the doors to Atlantic Island Park in 1977.
Unfortunately, the park's history turned out to be one plagued by tragedy and drama. Its freak accidents, grotesque killings and ghostly hauntings have inspired many a sensational headline, and locals worry the park is far from done claiming innocent lives.
For Lorraine, it's where her worst nightmare began.

OH I get it! I just realized that this game, The Park, is a side story based on the game "The Secret World." I thought this game was just a standalone. This is basically a prologue to how Nathaniel Winters became The Bogeyman in TSW.
I really appreciate the lack of commentary for games like this. Nothing breaks the atmosphere of a game more than some over caffeinated pre-teen shrieking into a microphone about how "crazy this game is."

Agreed. I used to like the let's plays with commentary, but they all pretty much run together after a while, and it loses something when a game has nice atmosphere but you have a guy shrieking profanities and stupid jokes the whole time.
It's far from being one of the worst horror games out there, what with it having a nice atmosphere, a few genuinely creepy moments and the premise for a very interesting backstory (the idea of using an amusement park as some kind of ritualistic engine is equally beautiful and terrifying).
But what really let me down was the ending. A game set in a world where you KNOW the monsters are real (and this was one of the bigger selling points for me), yet the writers decided to go the "MAYBE IT WAS ALL IN HER HEAD!" route? I see what they were trying to do, but it felt...lacklustre.
Still, always fun to watch your videos, so thank you for that!

the mother is the creepiest part of this game.
That and her troubled-child ran off to the park.... the woman told him to stay in the car....didn't she? But the boy didn't listen...he disobeyed his mom and ran to the park....but all as well....guess he should've listened to his troubled-mommy and stayed in the car...
I actually liked this. A woman who never got past her postnatal depression and coming to terms of what she did because of it, all dressed in the trappings of fairy tales and the false front fantasies of amusement parks.
I was happy with the payoff. She was both the mother and the witch.

They namedropped Innsmouth, Dunwich, and the kid had a Cthulhu shirt. A bit heavy handed with those Lovecraft references.

Seriously? I think its an alternative ending....and Hansel and Gretel have killed their own mother...she begged them to spare her and she won't do it again.....but Hansel and Gretel ignored her mother's plead and used a kitchen knife and ate their own mother like they did with the witch.....and then they came back to their father innocently....so their father and the two kids gained some money and were not so poor anymore.... and they all lived happily ever after......accept for their mother and the old witch...
I'm sorry but a real mom would have been like "Kellum BRING yo ass back to this car RIGHT now before I beat yo ass!" And then just waited on him to walk on back like he got his mind right. Not playing games with little bad kids

So this was called "Silent Hill in a Theme Park", turns out it wasn't.
Could have been a really good game, interesting ideas.
The park is shut down but the rides all work? Weird
So the boy got through the gates no problem but they need to unlock it for the mom? Lol
The game was spooky although the kid should have did what his mother told him to do. Loraine really had lost her mind or the boogeyman was messing with her.
you missed a few things though monsters and such but still a good playing through the story is disturbing of course thats what really makes the game interesting.

I counted a total of 17 jumpscares (potentially 19 if you're even a bigger scaredy cat than me lol). Some were small, some were good, some were like a shock to my whole body. Regardless I felt the blood drain out of my body a lot of time lol. The game was short and the story was meh. The gameplay itself was okay at best. I would give this game like a 6.5/10

It's a rather bad attempt to make it look like the mother killed the kid, but is saying he just went missing.
Do if you noticed the newspaper article it says a corps of a child was found in the park and the mother wanted to leave callun behind so she ends up killing callun but that's just what I think
days after the game 3 secret factions decided to destroy the evil demons in the park (but also destroying each other in the process)
The end was very much like PT only I think it was scarier.

Sorry but this is a RUBBISH intro to a game! If she was a half normal mother she wouldn't have gone in through the gates, she would've got the guy to stop all the rides, called the police and got the guy to phone his boss who would've got a security team out! Meanwhile she would have shouted through the gates at her son angrily to come back, not pandered to him and any normal child would have!! Believability 5%, attachment to the characters 0%!
