Can we just take a moment and just appreciate how much effort this fisherman does in videography. We got to see a shot of him coming in on the sandy beach. Which means he already landed, set up his camera, went back out into the water so he could show us, his viewers, of him coming into the place were he planned to camp. This is pure entertainment dedication I cannot say how awesome this all is.
Thanks for being safe out there. Lost my dad a few years back when his boat flipped on a fishing trip and he wasn't wearing a life jacket which would've saved his life. You don't want your family to ever get that call my dude, it's a tough one to get. Keep havin' fun, teaching us and being safe. Cheers man.
ive been following this amazing channel since about 200k and i love how he has never changed his attitude, tone or ways in general because of the amount of subs hes gained.
I am so proud of you! I was there when you started with the poke polin'-now you have over a million subs! God bless you my brother! keep up the good work.
I don’t care what anyone says.... you’re the OG of fishing vloggers from The Bay. I appreciate the time and effort as well as the knowledge you put in the videos. 🍻
Hey Matts! Great video, as always. I've camped at that very spot. I often take a 15 foot aluminum boat out in that bay and have a pretty good anchoring technique. I drop a DANFORTH anchor (common man, get a good anchor. It will save your butt if you have a mechanical failure) out I then drive into the beach. Make sure the anchor is set properly - this is important given the amount of sea grass in that bay. I get another long rope and tie it to the stern or bow. I secure this line to something substantial at night (ideally a tree but another anchor works - just don't stub your tow on it at night). Keep this line slack. The hot tip is to disconnect the fuel line from your engine (not the tank) and put the motor in reverse at idle. I ghost ride the whip out off of the beach while paying out line - the engine runs out of gas in about 30 seconds. This way the boat is anchored out safely and you have it secured to a slack line on shore. This way, if your fishing departure is at low tide you can always pull in the boat as you walk up current on the beach and off you go. Keep the content coming. Love it!
Man this was an amazing video, watched your channel for awhile and gotta say, you killed it! Catching crab right out the sea, camping and cooking. The fisherman’s life is the good life!
Prob my new favorite video. These adventure style vids where you go out and try something new are the best. Informative, but also a good watch. Thanks man!
You are a genius with the drone footage! It's all really well done! You've got a real talent! Not to mention that fishing and boating and filming and narrating! I'm always very impressed by Your videos! Great entertainment and knowledgeable. I can't count the things I've learned from You! God bless You and Your Channel!
So good to see you out on the water again..l I appreciate you being here sharing what you do. Your knowledge is essential for the serious and dedicated fisherman.
The complexity added lots of interest for me; boating, fishing, camping, crabbing, hazards, safety, casting, preserved bait, net casting for herring, nice job! The frost and morning dew...I’m almost there!
Matts this was a fantastic video. It made me laugh a few times and I appreciate your genuine enthusiasm. I remember fishing that same area as a boy in my grandpas boat. Good memories and thank you for this.
Beautiful fish peacefully jumping near the surface? I could eat those. The sounds of frogs peacefully croaking in the background? Sounds tasty. Man I love this channel lmao.
Oh man , bro , @ 27:06 your facial expression , sign of relief , and laughter , WTH , #priceless bro..... 😭 You are blessed by the tide gods.... WTH...
Hope to see you out there this year. I'm there a few times a month. Be cautious on that bar crossing. The swell will break across it, people have died out there.
Another great video Matt. Here's a couple of technical thoughts. Crabs don't like a fast current. They especially don't like a differential between high and low tides being so high. The movement of water causes them to hunker down, usually burying themselves in the sand or muddy bottom. I bet if you went back to the same spot when the tide differentials are narrow, you'd have a lot more crab in your pots. The sketchy water you encountered at the mouth of the ocean was a change of tide going up against the incoming swell. Anyone who has fished the mouth of the Columbia River knows the feeling of being in a boing pot of water. It's a freaky feeling. Thank you for another fun video. Keep 'em coming!
When ever i feel like going fishing, but then I remember I have zero experience or knowledge I like to watch this channel and fish through these videos. Not the same satisfaction but man do I enjoy these.
YO! glad the video turned out good! Crazy how you found those pots at the end. Nice to see my Porta Bote making a guest appearance in the distance at 1:53 It was a pleasure seeing you out on the water!
Oooo such a great video! When I saw the red one just floating to your direction I got so happy hahahaha no lost and some pretty great catches! Amazing!
A lot of people in BC don't use fish because it attracts seals so well, that might be what is moving your traps and getting them stuck! Thank you for the best fishing videos, much love
"Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose." Got lucky getting them pots back lol.
Matt, I'm not sure if a lot of people realize your cinematography skills. But I can tell that you put a lot of thought and work into your shots and view perspective. This adds a tremendous value to all your content overall, making them more educational and enjoyable to watch, and definitely one of the reasons I'm a solid prescriber. I appreciate the hard work and excellent commentary on all your videos, my friend.👍
Keeping crabs alive overnight: They will actually die faster in a bucket of stagnant water because of the limited supply of oxegen. What I do for blue crabs on the east coast is just throwing some damp seaweed on top and to keep them in the shade.
@hexroy is that all you do? I bring blues home keep em in a cooler with a damp towel and ice packs but i still end up with some dead in the morning (some with limbs removed by other crabs) What can i do to keep them alive better??
@@xxoczukxx If the cooler stays ice cold, the ones that do die wouldn't have been dead long and they won't degrade in quality. I wouldn't do it for long stints, but overnight is fine.
This is my first time watching your videos. WOW!!! I will half to play catch up with your great videos. You are a true outdoorsman. You have hooked me. Keep em coming. My deepest respect.
Firstly, we accept your apology for not posting more videos :). And Secondly, everything you see or hear, your first thought is to eat it, herring and frogs haha. Keep it up :)

Truth. It can be tedious work. But looks great at the end of the day.
I think he just landed his drone for that shot.
@@joelling9958 wrong, you can see his tripod in the drone shot.
👏👏 Well said sir.
yep, ive noticed that too in pretty much majority of his videos. He takes his time to do that for us which is awesome of him.
No music, no over exaggeration, just you and the sounds of nature, truly wholesome content

I love this dudes enthusiasm. When he sees the bait and then when he hears the frog. Wholesome as hell. Love you bro.
Drone shot of u crusin by with the tent in the boat was hilarious!
Gotdamn that shot had me rolling on the floor. JUST A MAN AND HIS TENT ON HIS BOAT

Nice video Matt. Tomales Bay is awesome but the mouth by Dillon Beach can be dangerous and the tide rips to much for a good crab catch.
Man this was an amazing video, watched your channel for awhile and gotta say, you killed it! Catching crab right out the sea, camping and cooking. The fisherman’s life is the good life!
