I have an 89 YJ, Chevy 350 Crate Engine, I went with the NP205 bulletproof TC and TH350. Due to this being a passenger drop TC, I went with the 74 Scout Front Dana 44, and the 78 Ford Bronco 9 in the rear. Good informative video.
Me and my grandpa are rebuilding this same model that also happens to have a 350 chevy small block v8, and when we're finished it will be my first car!
I really dig it! I've had many Jeeps throughout the years. One was a 1972 CJ-5 with a 305 and a 3 speed manual. I always wanted to put a 350 in it. Ended up selling and bought a 1998 TJ with a Straight 6 and a 5 speed manual. I've always wanted a YJ. Hopefully one finds me.😎✌️🇺🇲
What transfer case are you running? I bought a 1990 yj with 350 carburetor and it runs hot. With three electric fans, two in a huge hood scoop. 3 core aluminum radiator. Any ideas why or how to cool??
Currently looking at a 90 or 92 with a Chevy 400 small block with a 5 speedm are you running a electric fan or factory NO electric?? Any overheating issues?
Look up the engine and see what it was in and how many hp it made originally. I had a 305 that only made 120hp. And that was when it was new! Some simple bolt ons can help but the real power is made inside with higher compression a cam and bigger heads that flow more.
If you are mechanically inclined then yes. You will have to deal with little gremlins and need to know how to quickly and easily fix them. Keep everything simple. Use 1 wire alternator and 1 wire distributor. Otherwise these engines power many many kinds of cars trucks and boats. This one runs on premium gas and gets poor mileage. But it is fun!
Dude. Love the v8. But I'm gonna have to be the one to say it. You really cut the offroadability in half and the muddability doubled. This is because this v8 is carbureted and carbureted engines do not like fast jumps up and down offroad and they dont like being not level. Fuel injection is one of the most important engine upgrades in my opinion so I would highly recommend an EFI system for this jeep👍
I think this jeep would handle most of the type of offloading that can be done in the north east. Definitely not going to knock fuel injection. But a v8 is such an improvement over the 2.5 four banger.
@@alexandriawilliams7717 he legit never said it wasn’t crank HP. Did he? Every engine you buy is rated as crank hp. Sorry ya’ll don’t get your “gotcha” moment 😂

That's a great project to do with your grandpa! Will always be very special to you when it's done.
That is so sick, absolutely awesome Jeep, makes me want a v8 in my Jeep
Jeep should have made them this way. It's a fun ride.

I got a 92 and am thinking about swapping a V8 in it. Great video.
It's a lot of work but gives you a lot of smiles per miles.

I love that you know your car in and out! Respect
Thank you. A lot of work goes into these vehicles.
@@MrBriansAmazingWorld How can you love this when he said car? Haha jk, good stuff!
Great Jeep... super fast and sounds amazing!
Thank you!! It's so much fun building and driving them.
much nicer than the expensive 2020 ones
Keeps some character too!
You said you used hooker headers. Do you know which ones or have the part number? I cant find longtubes for a small block chevy swap in a YJ. Thanks.
Guessing a 650cfm carb? Beautiful YJ bro.

Dang man if I didn't have a brand new 4.0 In mine I would drop my 406 in it.
Rocking a black YJ and a Honda hoarders hoodie…are we brothers?
Good taste!
Got a 283 Chevy motor with a 700r4 transmission in my 99 wrangler just don’t seem like it has the hp … how can I get more horses out of it ?

Doing my 8.8 now. Wish me luck lmao
Update. It’s done. Posi locks up hood and she is a lot better with the posi 8.8 in the back
A couple thousand being 2-4 or a couple thousand being 4-7
It's a Jeep so 2k could turn into 7 very easily.
Found a yj renegade with 350 swap and pretty much a GM swap for every thing would you recommend a 350 swapped yj as a daily driver?

Mr. Brian's Amazing World Thanks man I really appreciate the reply I will definitely keep those things in mind.

I do. It's for sale. 10k

There are needle and seat kits for carbs that work well for off roading.
converting to the Holley Sniper EFI system is fairly simple if you got 1500 to spare
Dyno pulls or i don't believe it
From Jegs.com look it up if you want. 375 and 375.
Dana 35 in the rear bud
No Swapped it out for an 8.8 Check it out here! ua-cam.com/video/PMJvQOcrL8c/v-deo.html
230 hp tops
Bought it from JEGS 375hp and 375 lbs of torque. Check out their engine. Good deal for the $

Omg ditch that junk Dana 30. Paper weight. Especially with v8
