He never seemed to use "in ear" monitors perhaps because his hearing and sense of pitch must have been super acute to pick up on minute changes to the monitors of each instrument in his band. Mayte was rehearsing at 33% power saving it for the show like a pro, loved how he turned around and took time to play/create a killer riff for her and chitchat a little. Great manager of people they all focused 100% on his every word/ gesture. He could more than walk the talk. Off the chart talents.Thank you for this insightful clip.
He was a Princefectionist ❤Truly. Was lucky enough to see him just a couple times; second time in 2004 when he featured Dave Chapelle as an opening act. It was really a celebration more than a concert 🎵. He truly cared about his fans and appreciated them to an extent you can’t really imagine. Genuine and funny also. Happy heavenly birthday Prince☝️❤️🌈🎵
Stunning! What a band - a what a reminder of just how good Prince was! Such a loss - can you imagine what he could have done in today's music and social media environment?
This was totally off the chain. I love Prince rehearsals. I wish I could have been there it would have been total experience. Thank you Paula C. 💜🎸🥰🤘🏽👏🏽💜
This is why every Prince concert I went to were the best sounding concerts I've ever heard and I've been to several awesome ones covering the 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's
@@paulac7110 My family was very diverse in taste. Dad liked opera, mom liked Elvis and Freddy fender, sisters liked classic rock, pop, and R&B, younger brother liked rap. I started listening to Prince at 9. From him though I give credit to also because he opened my ears to classical music, rock-a-billy, soul, oldies, hard rock, alternative, disco and funk. Very interesting video you got there. Have you seen the footage of him and the revolution rehearsals in a basement of some house I think
@@dragonballz4998 Thank you for sharing your story 😊 That's like literally growing up with Prince, right? Yes I know and have that footage from young Prince with The Revolution. Somewhere in a garage or basement. Loved to see young Wendy there as well 💯💜
My most favorite parts, aside from this whole performence, but specifically 6:28 amd 7:21 Just awesome. When he seems genuinely taken by the music he and his band are creating. Just rock n roll abandon! LOVE IT! Gives me goosebumps. I saw Prince many times during this era. From live shows, one offs, afternoon gigs and late night rehearrsals where iw as the only one in attendance, up close. Magical time. there is a hidden inspiration for a lot in this era. From his patriotism to his style, stage outfits and band culture presentation. But that would be like a thesis to make! Bye!
Don't know about her having any,But there are rehearsal footage on UA-cam. there's one from 84 with Prince Wendy. Lisa in a basement rehearsing for the tour & there is rehearsal footage from sign of the times on here too. you just have to look for it! Enjoy if find!
I think that's possible when he wanted to focus on his own voice and guitar parts. Often they recorded things played in TV studio's apart from backing.
Morris used to play samples. Playing and singing simultaneously isn't easy for everyone. He used the sample to recreate vocal harmonies and other sounds important to the song which were impossible to reproduce live. Morris talks about this in interviews.
OK so this brother from another mother has been the soundtrack for people with taste in music. Real music and you can use it and abuse it and hence the FUNK 4 all ages. James and Michael and Stevie NEVER PLAYED GUITAR!!!!
The story was that he wrote « Meshell’s Idol » on his cheek but it was backward. Right after the song, He got off stage to watch his performance but got pissed that the message couldn’t be clearly readable. He refused to do a second song as it was agreed 🤷🏻♂️
It looked like prince said a comment to mayte and made her giggle, I noticed he looked over to her more than a couple of times. Maybe you should watch this again.
This is like watching the master tape vs. a the VCR version we are used to seeing from Ladybird. Very nice! Although this is probably the best portion of the set, I am still hoping Paula eventually posts the entire set, at least the parts with Prince participating, inc. Acknowledge Me, Glam Slam Boogie (pt. II) & Them Changes. Until that happens it's a wavy 360p resolution for the rest of the set for me!
Even Prince's soundcheck is far better than live shows of many other artists. Ain't no party like a New Power Party!
🙏
Soundchecks are the best!
He was born to be Prince. There’s never been a more complete artist in the modern era. Nobody even close to him.
So true!! 💜
Like James Brown...Prince was on his own ultra high musical mountain that nobody could touch. He was music.

This is absolute fire. His command of everything happening on stage is truly a sight to behold
He goes from just standing quietly (0:37) to screaming and wailing on the guitar (0:50) in 13 seconds. He's amazing to watch.
😂 I know! What an artist hmm?!! 💯💜
This rehearsal just shows how powerful Prince was.

Beautiful words 👍💜
Stunning! What a band - a what a reminder of just how good Prince was! Such a loss - can you imagine what he could have done in today's music and social media environment?
He was not much into social media, but even when always being his own unique self I'm sure he would have surprised us with a lot of new purple gems 👍💜
I saw him twice 2007 and 2014 but would love to have been there in the mid 90’s best era
This was totally off the chain. I love Prince rehearsals. I wish I could have been there it would have been total experience. Thank you Paula C. 💜🎸🥰🤘🏽👏🏽💜

Excellent quality!!!
Thanks

Thank you so much for sharing this.
Do you have more rehearsal performances?
With pleasure 👍💜
Yes I do. I will have to check externals.

ENDORPHINMACHINE
Like a strawberry (come) chocolate Fender jazz, mashed potato jazz tone(come)
Big fuzz guitar ❤
a lil mo n the monitors please..
Even if Sonny T and Morris Hayes have microphones, it looks like backing vocals were already recorded. What do you think
about it?
I think that's possible when he wanted to focus on his own voice and guitar parts. Often they recorded things played in TV studio's apart from backing.

And Prince couldn't play saxophone (or indeed any wind instrument). They each had their separate specialities.
Was it after this rehearsal that he refused to perform on the show because he didn't like something about the sound or the lighting or whatever?
The story was that he wrote « Meshell’s Idol » on his cheek but it was backward.
Right after the song, He got off stage to watch his performance but got pissed that the message couldn’t be clearly readable.
He refused to do a second song as it was agreed 🤷🏻♂️
@@edwardprevote954 "Meshell" like the bass player Meshell Ndegeocello?
Yes !
No attraction. Prince didn't even look at her
I noticed that too 💜
Non ha guardato nessuno. È concentrato. 15 minuti di focus sul mixer ... direi NORMALE 😅 IL MINIMO!
Normal Prince est un Ultra perfectionniste....pas le temps pour la rigolade 😉

Just Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Keep it up.
