Great stuff! I grew up in Hampton and my father was the signal maintainer for CNW in Hampton (he basically covered the old M&StL trackage from Rockwell to Oskaloosa) from the early 1960s until the early 1980s. This is where I started railfanning. I haven't been back in ages, and I've been in the NYC area for the last 32 years.
@chefkevinpenner5869 Thanks CKP! Sounds like your Father had a good sized area to maintain. My Dad worked for the CNW too. He ran a weld plant in Tama, IA..
Hello Red, that's an extra short train from UP and what a strange train the LORAM GRINDER TRAIN is? The long UP hopper train and the long UP tank car train are fantastic. The drone footage is great again. Thank you very much for the very nice video and have a nice week and best wishes Wolfgang
Thank you for the fabulous video, my friend! It included what I think is the shortest train I've ever seen in one of your videos. You captured so beautiful drone shots today. I certainly enjoyed it, so I thank you again. Please tell Walter and Roger I said hi. ❤❤ Please be careful out there, and we'll chat again soon, I hope! 😃😃😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was a fun mix of trains and the little local with the two fertilizer cars was like the UPS driver ready to make his last delivery. Those Loram trains that work the main lines seem to get longer all the time and if they're staying there for the night it just shows how lonely it can get for the crew. Looking at the two big circles for outdoor corn storage that's more capacity than the elevator itself and if they were loading a train Loram would have to park elsewhere. A good unit grain train but only a handful of old cars including two Mopac. The 2. Units with the tank train actually were moving two train sets as the buffer cars were also doubled up Just when you think the last cars were near the Crossing in the corner of the screen they were still way back in the woods. Hard to believe it's been 2 years last week since the big wreck on the spine line that catapulted you intto :it's drone time' fame
@paulbergen9114 Yes Paul that short train threw me for a loop! I had to switch to drone time quick. Seems like the grinder trains run a lot at night. I believe my Dad said it's easier to spot fires that way. That Spine Line derailment really was the big intro for drone time. I remember being on the news on a Rochester Minnesota station!
That was a short local train passing through Hampton, Iowa, Red! You were lucky to catch that train. The LORAM rail grinder at Bradford, Iowa was a longer version of the rail grinder. That was a long grain train that you caught at Bradford! Your drone footage of the tank train winding through Iowa Falls, Iowa was magnificent. The tank car train looked like a snake winding past Mills Tower and across the Iowa River bridge. (Post 14 September 2024 at 1658 T.)
@thomasmackowiak Thanks Thomas! That super short train made me go to drone time in a hurry. That ethanol train was definitely cool to look at under the drone. Iowa Falls is a beautiful spot👍
thanks Red the shortie looked funny after watching mile long trains wouldn't worry about those pigeons as the Windmill turbine blades have a kill ratio of 10 birds an hour. why is that river so brown? is that run off?
@joebidenbites1015 You're welcome JBB! Yeah I've heard the windmill blades take out a lot of birds. Iowa rivers are known for dirty water with all the farm runoff.
Another awesome video Red and man you stay safe out there and watch your back. We’ll see you on the next one.
@timmyfrierson2684 Thanks Timmy!

@jackthegiantkiller388 You're welcome Jack!
Great vid Red!! Looks like the customer receiving the 2 cars knows the right phone number to call!!
@danlowe8684 Thanks Dan! I was expecting a longer train😃
We have seen several farmers taking last years cor to elevators making room for this years crop. Great catches and drone work
@davidsnider1703 Thanks David S!

Beautiful views of the farmland and Iowa Falls. Love the SB ethanol going LHF
@fallingup90 Thanks fallingup90! You can see a long ways South of Bradford👍
0:30 I loved seeing a 3-digit UP unit and I always love seeing a very short train with too much power.
@@davidschick6951 Definitely enough power!
Thanks Red!

Nice job catching those trains Reds Iowa train videos keep it up please be safe while rail fanning out there. Please have fun doing it too
@SebastianLandrus Thanks Sebastian!
Grain train heading for Cargill in Iowa Falls?
Those curves slow the train and put a lot of strain on the locomotives.
As always…..we give Red many thanks ✋👍 🙏
@jeffreyerickson3050 Thanks Jeffrey!
Way to mix it up Red 👍
Seriously two engines and two cars I have never seen train this short before

Those pigeons should have followed the grain train 😅😅
Tanker train probably headed for POET Bioprocessing plant
@@daveschmitt4499 That would make sense.
Isn't that extraordinarily long for a Loram train, Red? I thought they were usually only a few cars. 🙂🙂
@@garymiller5937 It may be a little longer than average.

At least no Hot Wheels
Golf course at Iowa Falls looked empty
A lot of tank cars alot of ethanol for fuel ⛽️
Drone time…….for 4 😂
