A lot of people commenting about a multitool being better. When used correctly this tool is much quicker and much less likely to damage boxes or wires. Also the cut should always go COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Using a rotozip bit and going counter clockwise youd see the difference. You can do a plunge cut, guide yourself to the edge. Lift out and then plunge in a hair over. Trace the box. Too easy.
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
You are extremely good at freehand cutting. However, in most cases, this is not the bit which people would use, they would use a shallower depth to not cut through the wires, and they would not cut clockwise. It is not a good demonstration for people who are looking for practical guidance and try to learn new skills.
Now I’m really confused. I thought the DC551 only came in 20 V? But you have 18 with yours??? Are you in the USA because I heard in other countries they do that?
in the us you are allowed to lie when it comes to voltage. its 20v for an instant then goes down to 18v during use. the rest of the world doesnt allow this so its sold as its true nominal voltage rating of 18v everywhere else.
It’s 8 years since I posted the video, but yes an oscillating tool is used nowadays for that task. The cut out tool is often used more for cutting around openings on single skin plasterboard
have to agree with most! what a waste of time designing that..... multi tool far more versatile .... come on dewalt stop wasting time and money and come up with better tools!
therealpro123 I started as a plasterer apprentice in 1984 and all we every used was a stanley knife! i’m still using a stanley knife.....inventing stuff for the sake of it is a waste of time.... any body else agree?

Mil veces la navaja
What is the little tiny plastic piece about an inch long that looks like a rocket ship that comes with it???
Can you not just use a multi tool?

Anyone who mentions multi tool doesnt get the point of this tool
Não teria um gabarito pra facilitar?
I use a multi tool... waaaay better than this :) and it can go through ply if the walls are plied :)
So just use old crappy bits, they don't need much of an edge to cut any type of drywall! I re-edge my old bits with a cut-off wheel anyway.
just get some sweet carbide blades. :D
@@therealpro123 not if you use good blades, I use mine on plasterboard and wood alot, and they last ages
Woah ! Rough ! Multitool all the way !
I thought the cut would be a lot cleaner

I use a Bosch cordless multi tool, prefer it to this any day, way more useful
i just bought a dewalt cut out tool like in the video. i have a dewalt multi tool as well. is there any point of keeping the cut out tool?
@@randomrazr me personally I wouldn't buy a cut out tool, multi tool does the same and a lot more. I wouldn't be without mine
I’m sorry, but that is not a clean cut and at that slow pace shit why would I use this instead of using a regular oscillating saw

only drywall how about wood

Padsaw or multitool , useless powertool
Try cutting around a can light in a ceiling with a multitool
@@derekguy1878 try using a hole saw, use it with a silicone cup to catch all the dust, cutting downlights in a ceiling with this tool is ludicrous.
