      Thank you so much for the encouragement. Frankly... it was a hard decision to make and we prayed about it a long time before making the decision. We loved the Midwest but ultimately wanted to be home near family to help them. We did so many things to improve the little backyard homestead we created and hope it means something to whomever buys it next. Thank you again for the comment and well wishes.

      @@purposedrivenhomestead I wanted to share also with you that my planner has been amazing. I drew out my garden grids and my garden has been great this year. Egg management has been so on point, and things are well organized and dated. I hope it was a successful venture for you all and I wanted to let you both know how much I’ve appreciated your hard work on it! I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while and love to share with all my friends.

      You are the BEST! Thank you so much for all your support. Its because of people like you... that we keep doing what we do! Frankly, we've not as many planners as we would have liked but we've only marketed via UA-cam and our social media. We simply don't have the money to do larger scale marketing. We pray God will provide word of mouth marketing. We'd love to know if there's any updates or changes you would suggest us make given that you've used it for a while now?

    Is there a reason you didn’t take the raspberry plant with you? My neighbor moved from Illinois to South Carolina and took their berry plants

    • @purposedrivenhomestead
      @purposedrivenhomestead  10 місяців тому

      We took some raspberry plants with us, but there were simply too many to make the trek. Remember that we moved starting in February through July. That's 5 months of moving between the two areas and we needed as much space as we could spare for the items from the house and kids. I think it was 8-9 trips total including 2 big U-Haul trucks. We brought some plants down towards the end of 2022, but none of them made it because we weren't here to care for them. I think we have enough to start cloning the ones we have, which is good. However, the other consideration is space. We don't have a ton of space to plant permanent plants right now either. Some of that will open up when we clear some land, but until then, it will be tight. We really need all the open space for the chicken and turkey tractors. It's a process and I wish we were further along on it... LOL.

    Where are you in Midwest? Thinking about getting out of Illinois.

    • @purposedrivenhomestead
      @purposedrivenhomestead  11 місяців тому +1

      We were in Illinois about 10 years ago and I'd definitely recommend exiting, as the state is just too influenced by the horrible mismanagement of the leaders of Chicago. While the western and southern portions of the state are rural and the people are nice... the leadership of the state is essentially out of Chicago... regardless of where the capital physically located (for those reading who don't know.. it's Springfield). I would have recommended Michigan in the past, but no more. Now... your best bets are probably Indiana or Ohio if you want to stay in a similar space and climate.

    Hi prayers for your move! Also, quick question: your laying hens: do u all vaccinate your hens? If not, do u know where I can find laying hens in my area (GA) that have not been vaccinated and no antibiotics. I’m new w/this so
    Please let me know if this is a wise idea. I think what I’ve researched, it’s wise not to vaccinate and use antibiotics if I want clean, organic & healthy eggs for my family & community. Thank
    U!

    • @purposedrivenhomestead
      @purposedrivenhomestead  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much for the comment and the question. Most of all, thank you for the prayers!
      So I'll caveat this so we get slightly less hate mail about it. LOL. This is our suggestion, but mileage may vary, so research and make your own decision (sounds like you have). Now that we've got that out of the way for all those who will want to yell at us, we ABSOLUTELY do NOT vaccinate our birds or use antibiotics. If birds are eating fresh pasture in addition to their daily food, then they shouldn't need any of that. The reality is that the conditions in the industrial chicken and turkey industries are so abhorrent, that the birds need antibiotics just to stay alive. Imagine, for a moment, if you lived in a space just slightly larger than a piece of standard notebook paper and had to eat and sleep on the floor where you also used the restroom. It wouldn't take long before those unsanitary conditions would catch up to you would get some kind of serious illness. That's how it is with these birds... so the antibiotics are essentially propping them up and keeping them alive. We raise our birds on fresh pasture so it's weeks before they revisit the same patch of ground and we don't have to worry about pathogens or parasites the same way. We see vaccinations the same way. It's not natural and the birds should be able to fight off illnesses, so we don't get the birds vaccinated.
      You should be able to contact your hatchery and let them know you don't want the vaccines. Most of them will cater to you. We hope this helps answer your question! Please consider subscribing (if you haven't already) and don't forget to turn on your notifications so you don't miss any of our videos. Thanks again.
