- देश की राजधानी दिल्ली और उससे होकर गुजरती एक मात्र नदी यमुना. कभी साफ़ निर्मल अविरल रही यमुना, पिछले कई दशकों से प्रदूषित हो रही है. जिसके कारण यमुना का जलस्तर और दायरा सिकुड़ता जा रहा है. सात राज्यों से गुजरने वाली यमुना की लंबाई दिल्ली आकर जो की 7 राज्यों से गुज़रने वाली यमुना का कुल 1,370 किमी लंबाई का सिर्फ 2% है लेकिन यमुना के इसी 2 पर्सेंट में नदी का 80% से अधिक प्रदूषण बहता है. जिससे दिल्ली में यमुना के जलस्तर कम होने का अंदाज़ा साफ़ साफ़ लगाया जा सकता है. देखिए बीबीसी संवाददाता बुशरा शेख़ की रिपोर्ट.

इस नदी से खुश-किस्मत तो यूरोप की अधिकांश नदियां हैं, जहां उन्हें न तो पूजा जाता है, और न ही उन नदियों को देवी का दर्जा प्राप्त है, फ़िर भी वे इतनी साफ-सुथरी और स्वच्छ हैं, जिसका कोई जवाब नहीं। शायद इसकी एक वजह वहां के लोग प्रकृति के प्रति अपने दायित्व को बखूबी समझते हैं!

There is one solution of this problem that is all the debris of the river should be collected and it will spreaded in a large area for drying purpose as now a days sun is very hot, it will not take too much time to get dry and then it should be reused in any kind of industry that is using heat as a power to generate the output. I know process will impart some pollution to the environment but it is less harmful than the current situation of the river.😕😕
We are losing several historical and identical sites one by one... This really sad...

Why, even top cities of India have no Policy nor appropriate action on the ground level nor can claim 100% treated Sewage. Sewage taxes are levied though.

Where is that pure and sacred yamuna river where lord Krishna himself used to bath with his friends and praise about the river being so clean, cold and have ability to clean and purify little krishna. I think its just in the scriptures and stories. Now we can't even imagine how clean river yamuna once was. A lot has changed in just 50 to 100 years, clearly showing the effects of industrial pollution, chemicals, fertilizers, plastics and other toxic wastes which was non existent just 50 years ago. Don't know how many more years we will take to wakeup and decouple from this toxic things but i m sure before that everything will be lost...

Instead she cud have implemented a strict 2 child policy across India, with those violating the law be criminally penalized and the child taken into Govt custody, almost similar to China's model of curbing Population growth.

And 'nothing' means never dump any factory waste, stop throwing household waste, flowers used in holly places and other ritual waste. But Government never says that they will strictly enforce the laws on each community. They start expensive compaigns under the name 'swachhta abhiyan'.
