StuG IV Hotlap at AusArmourFest 2022

- Australian Armour and Artillery Museum outside of Cairns, QLD, Australia hosted AusArmourFest once again, giving visitors an opportunity to see armour in operation on their track. The festival ran from 26-28 August 2022.
This footage was shot on Saturday 27-Aug-2022 and is my Hotlap in the StuG IV mounting the 7.5cm KwK 40 L/48 main gun.
Footage is taken from the Commanders Cupola. I've tried to capture some shots of the driver steering the vehicle using the Panzer IV brake/skid steering system and the gunners position.
Narration is impossible due to the driveline noise, but that's all part of the experience. The ride of the Panzer IV chassis is pretty brutal as the road wheels are mounted using leaf springs with little to no damping, so I would guess that effectively firing on the move would have been an art more than a science.

Wow, I never rode in a tank before! That was fun!
Aiming that gun with limited traverse must have met some highly professional teamwork between tank commander and the driver to reorient the vehicle and line up with target. Must have been at extreme disadvantage at close ranges.

Very cool ride. Question: are they going to install the periscopic sight in the hole in front of the commanders hatch?
Slightly disappointed....when the title said "hot lap". I expected to see it drift. 🤣
