That whole part about Romero is my favorite short sequence ever in the show. So cool. So understated. In fact, this comment is so I don't forget which episode it was, lol.
“The Big Bunco” April 17, 1952 * superb early tribute to his recently late partners, Ben Romero Bunco : a swindle or confidence trick. Excellent episode thank you for the UA-cam post 👌
Something many shows today still don't have, continuity. 16 episodes after The Big Sorrow and Ben Romero is still mentioned. Unlike many shows that act like a character never existed once they are gone.
True. I think this was the first time that an actor died and the show killed off the character at the same. For example, Barton Yarborough was also on "One Man's Family" when he died, they just said his character was on a trip. Another Jack Webb innovation.
Not only is Bill Lockwood Ben Romero's nephew, actor Martin Milner was in reality Barton Yarborough's godson. Nice continuity, this. Jack Webb was always about the details.
I didn't know he was Yarborough's godson. They had to rearrange the production schedule for Martin Millner's radio episode appearances. He was in the California National Guard.
This is so nice that Ben was mentioned. Barton was one of my favorite radio actors!! Luv him!!!👍👍💖💕

@@slumpyb Thank u for this information. I luv ben Romero! Barton was so talented!!
First appearance of Martin Millner on Dragnet as Ofc. Bill Lockwood.
In real life, Martin Milner was Barton Yarborough's godson...how neat is that?
Pretty neat!
R. I. P. Ben Romero
When Jack went over the role with Martin Milner asked how a red haired white guy would be a guy name Romero's nephew. jack answered Martin its radio.
Jack Webb is a savage.😹😹😹😹

How do you know so much? These factoids are interesting!
@@otrarchive A little cheat: I listen to Greg Bell's broadcast when in my car and he throws these wonderful tidbits out there.

Later Martin Milner played Pete Maloy in the Adam -12 series. Adam-12 was created and produced by Jack Web. AKA Joe Friday.
Dragnet and Columbo have 2 things in common. 1 = They always get their man. 2 = it's just routine sir.
Oh just one more thing. Martin Milner starred in the first episode of the Columbo series in 1971 as Jim Ferris, the victim.
I miss Ben Romero though Frank Smith was good also...

Why do you hate the police, Wanda?
