I’ve come full circle myself and enjoy playing my LP and Marshall instead of a strat through a fender combo. Great as always Ramon

Thanks for the review, glad you agree it’s a great amp. I use it a lot, it’s nice to load in and out of gigs in on journey from the car.
The two channels’ volume controls on the ‘59/60 Deluxe circuit on which it’s based are interactive. The one that’s not in use affects the tone and compression of the one that is.
But by bridging the normal and bright inputs, I can instead mix the tones from the two channels, which I prefer. It’s subtler than the amp”s tone control, which is also quite powerful. The amp also has gentle bass and mid boost switches for further tweaking but I don’t usually use either.

IMHO basically a souped up, modded to the limit 5E3 with
the 2 added sub-chassis' on the sides which, to me, makes
them real nifty, though I've not seen one or played one, or owned one...
(They've acquired a degree of infamy for being very hard to service, though...)

You're right bro, my amps are way too loud, a vibrolux reverb, and a JC 120 ! 😁

That live sound was fantastic. Were you driving the amp with a pedal? Or was this just the channels jumped?

I had a Lazy J 20. It blew up. I had the mains transformer replaced then the reverb unit started going faulty. Don't get me started on the build quality of these. It's a kit amp. Never again. It does NOT have a beefed up transformer. It has a puny mojotone. Mine did. Still had the sticker on it. It also has a fan due to the fact its totally going to melt with 6L6s. Not beefed up. You're mistaken.

I also have 5E3 clone based on a MojoTone kit, however, the amp tech built it using Heyboer transformers. Allegedly, Ken at Trainwreck favored Heyboers. I’ve played my 5E3 clone really loud for many hours I haven’t had an issue other than replacing the speaker several times until settling on ToneTubby Alnico Red. The speaker is within the neighborhood of Celestion Blue but with a higher load capacity.

Monotone transformers are often coming from Heyboer, they are distributing Heyboer. And these are amongst the best transformers you can buy. If it blew up, it was most probably a bad circuit design.

@@jamesemerson4102 I personally hand-delivered strings and tubes to your door during lockdown and this is how you repay me?
We've been over this. There are interviews with the builder where he admits to using underrated transformers and putting a fan on it, which is not a valid thing to do in any situation.

Great video Ramon - I used to have one of these, now I have a deluxe clone & it’s everything I wanted the lazy j to sound like- it’s a shame you couldn’t take that deluxe Bob had out for a gig that’d be interesting 🤔

Ramon, you should really look after a Filmosound Reissue from the German amp builder Andreas Breuhaus, aka Realtone.
I have one with 6V6es, based on the Model 621 with still the original output transformer. It is direct ptp wired and a real piece of art. Andreas did a custom add for me by adding a bias trek and a spring reverb, and the whole thing is in a 5E3 size cabinet with a Celestion blue. The Lazy J’s tone reminds me a bit of it but I really think the Filmo is even much better. Andreas is a gentle genius.he is also custom building Henrik Freischlader‘s amps since many years.
    Wonderful playing, btw!
