Father & son bonding over bondo! If that ain’t an iconic American scene…. I’ll kiss your grits!!!
I had a ‘72 GMC Sierra Grande pickup. I drove it from ‘84 - ‘93. I paid $2000 for it… and got $1500 in trade. About 5 years later the internet showed up around here. So, I looked to see what they were worth. $5000 untouched and $15,000 faithfully restored!
So buddy, don’t go any deeper than cosmetics with your repairs and Bo will have a nice little nest egg!
All of those old paint colors faded. They didn’t use UV inhibitors or clear coat. Red was the worst. My ‘88 Ford pickup turned pink one summer.
Restoring the color was easy… an afternoon of Turtle Wax, elbow grease and cold beer did the trick! The waxing rag looked like it had cleaned up a murder site. So much oxidized paint came off, I thought I’d rub right through.
Buddy, keep chipping away… you’ll have a pride & joy that is indeed a joy to be proud to own!

My grandmother on dad's side had a 71' Orange Super Cheyenne C10 Chevy with 350 & Automatic. My grandmother was 5'4" & small framed . But between her Truck & 76' Cadillac with 500 V8 she had a lead foot & didn't spare any horses from under the hood. The 71 Chevy stayed in the family until 2009 when someone hit my uncle & totaled the truck out.

the panel you painted that the wipers go thru is a cowl. I restored a 1971 GMC to show truck condition. Once I started farming, I no longer had time for the collection. Sold all of them. Now wish I would have kept two of them, my 1959 Chevrolet Apache and my 1954 GMC. Your 69 and my 71 was my favorite body style. They ran it from 1967 to 1972. The front slope on the 67 hoods was very shallow. After that they put more of a bull nose on them. You will love it when it's done!

  • @wirenut003

Whats up M B T S love the new truck the color is really cool hope you do it right. But one thing I must tell you is that in your garage the walls just have the insulation up with nothing covering it just bare paper on the walls, Just think any kind of a little spark will set it off big time -grinder welding you should really think of rocking that place you and a couple of buds could knock it out in one day.

It is in a canny condition for a 53 year old pickup Aaron !!
Sometimes it is not worth picking up the camera for doing the odd hour or so here and there, you would spend more time behind the camera than working 🤷‍♂️😂
Good to see Beau (Child Behind The Scenes) getting stuck in and getting bored of sanding, who can blame him ???
The turquoise colour was used on police cars over here, they would buy half a fleet of white and half a fleet of turquoise cars, swap doors and sometimes bonnets and boot lids to get the cars to stand out !!!

The paint shop should be able to match the factory color from the serial number if that is what you wanted but myself i like that teal/blue or turquoise/blue it looks different then most colors you see on trucks now days ! On the floor patch on drivers side near the gas tank you should put some window screen taped on outside it stopped the bondo from falling through plus gives it strength I used the old metal screen but the plastic screen works as good and dont rust ! If you had let us know your plans ahead time some of us gladly gave you tips to help save both time & money !

Love the bondo 😁 Don't get the other comments. It's just small holes and you got to try things out.. quite amazed how little rust is shown.. hope you give the underside a good seal to prevent the iron rustig away from the bondo.

Aaron 2 things 1 the vin number should give the paint colors and 2 when you mix bondo use a glass it mixs better and you can clean off what is hard up. Also show some pictures of your MC so we all see what you ride. Ok this Bob from Vero beach Fla. God bless stay safe and have a great day

Aaron, I’ve been watching a channel called “The Old Mans Garage” formerly “SRC Garage”. He had the same problem matching paint to the paint codes, he went to his local parts store and brought home a special camera and took pictures of the painted areas he wanted to match, brought it back and not only did they match it, they packaged it in an aresol spray can. I haven’t heard of anyone doing this before!! The store was in Ohio. They’re restomoding an old C10. Check em out. Good channel. You might get some feedback from him on where they might have a paint dealer who does the same process near you. Looking good my friend!
