Awesome cover. Now that I listen to it, the fingerpicking is apparent. Especially during the “chops” after Paul plucks the bass notes Outfits are appreciated of course :)
When I first started playing this song, I always used a pick, until now, when I read the description. I didn’t know that Paul used his fingers, not a pick on this song.
For this one, the basic track has Paul playing the rhythm guitar and then George and John both playing the lead parts simultaneously. Maybe also on their Casinos. Then the very last overdub which also saw Paul double tracking his lead vocals had John and George double their basic track parts again.
@@sampopkin You definitely did a great job replicating the parts though. I've been putting together a list of all their multitrack tapes for awhile now. Royal Tan. From the beginning (early 60’s) they offered casinos in either in sunburst or royal tan. It wasn’t seen as much as sunburst and after the late 60’s wasn’t an option again until last year when they introduced this USA run
If i may ask, was there photos/sources of Paul playing this with his fingers in the studio or something? Cause the covers i see on youtube are like 50/50 on if Paul played this with fingers or a pick, and i can't tell which is it myself, thanks!
No photos unfortunately, but I’m 100% sure he did not use a pick. Based on the way the strumming sounds it’s very soft plus Paul often would not use a pick when doing rhythm guitar
for the C chord how do you figure its an A shape? I have tried to find videos of paul playing and he uses the normal c shape. Also Have you thought of playing this song a la yesterday where he upstrokes with his index finger? I can't tell if in the song he is using upstrokes for the main rythm part or using two to three fingers to sound out the chords. I just figured paul mccartney might lean on the upstroking with his index since he does it for yesterday blackbird and mother natures son. again though can't find any videos!
I know what you mean. Paul does play C like X32010 a lot in videos. But in Here There Everywhere the C is often kind of pinched/slapped hard with the ring and middle fingers. When you do that on an open C it doesn’t have the same percussiveness. I can’t say with certainty but I did listen intensely to the isolated track and determined this is most likely the way Paul played it

The four George Strat parts sound bang on, as does that horn-like volume pedal. Knew it had to be Paul on rhythm; John would grumble something about too many chords!
Don’t underestimate John’s rhythm chops. Look rhythm guitar videos for Happy Just To Dance With You and All My Loving. John could play George’s part on this song with his eyes closed.
