PJ you NEED to watch Bottoms. It had a very tiny theatrical release but it is for sure my movie of the year. Utterly hilarious all the way through, but also portrays the humanity in the characters so well. Also Ayo Edebiri (Sydney in The Bear) is one of the two main leads. Shes so funny. Whats not to love?

As a girl who grew up quite girly and only had a sister, I never in my life have engaged with any form of TMNT content. I knew the gist but had no interest. My boyfriend and I watched it because I liked the trailer and then I was baffled when it had become the best movie I’d seen this year. Granted, I did see it before I watched Barbie and Oppenheimer but they all belong at the top together.
i would recommend nimona! beautiful animation, loveable characters, funny jokes, and an emotional story that left me laughing and crying
meanwhile when someone asks what I saw this year I'm like ... yeah I totally saw... a thing. I can't seem to remember so many great movies and shows I actually like.
Holy shit dude!! I used to watch your videos and really enjoyed your personality and attitude, but then around Corona I stopped for unrelated reasons and UA-cam never recommended you again. I completely forgot about you, and now suddenly you are back in my recommendations. Such a pleasant surprise, please don’t leave my recommendations again lol
"prepare yourselves for long explanations of the games" as a kpop fan who watches videos of groups playing Korean games I'm not familiar with, this is something I experience often

i thought it was a good year for movies. but...i truly believe.......almost every movie would benefit from being a crispy hour and a half instead of 3+

I agree mostly. Hour and a half always feels a tad too short. But a crisp two hours usually leaves me satisfied without looking at my watch.
PJ - as someone who also loves and appreciates good animation, I definitely recommend checking out Blue Eye Samurai. It was beautifully animated and the main character Mizu is very complex and interesting to watch!! 💙 great video as always
TMNT and Dungeons and dragons were such unexpected gems in 2023.
If you really enjoy the turtles, I can’t recommend Rise of the TMNT (series and movie) enough. It’s my favorite iteration of the series 🖤
YESSS seconded rise is so fun and the art style literally picked me up out of an art block its so wonderful
What I noticed this year is that there were a lot of hyped-up pieces of media that truly deserved the hype. I usually feel like the big hits don't live up to their expectations and it felt like such a breath of fresh air that it was all just as good or even better than expected!
The TMNT movie was truly one of the best movies from the last year!
i feel like the thing with ToTK is that it is just breath of the wild 2. so it doesnt feel as groundbreaking to play. i loved playing it and did 100% it (aside from the korok seeds). but i can see how it can be a very arduous game to get through if you were hoping for more wow! moments.

i strongly believe you would enjoy the chaos of Weird: The Al Yankovic story. it has a satirical plot written by the man himself and contains an oscar worthy performance by Daniel Radcliffe. 100/10
you HAVE to watch Frieren if you love dnd and just need a cozy and silly emotional roller coaster of a show
This video really reinforces my want to watch movies/show that you and sweet potats talk about on stream. So many recs that seem up my alley. But with the many streaming platforms, it’s so overwhelming.
Hmmm… maybe I should consider subbing to one platform a month, that way I can check out all the things.

After this video I found myself booking cinema tickets to The Boy and The Heron as well as TMNT (on the same day) and also going back to spiderman 2 to 100% it as well.

Over 500 hours in baldurs gate and counting babey, cannot get enough of it
I am SO addicted to Baldur's Gate 3, it consumed my whole life. I love it so much that I even missed shows and films that I was genuinely excited about - because I couldn't do anything else then play, and I couldn't think of anything else.
This feeling became a liiiiittle quieter when I finished my first playthrough, so I am making a list of things to catch up on.
I think I've never been happier missing things, haha. But you reminded me that I really wanted to watch Scott Pilgrim, thanks, I totally forgot about that)

My biggest film rec from 2023 is Renfield!!! Its a modern, comedic take on 1930’s dracula but from the perspective of Renfield. Highly recommend if you want a funny, over the top and gory film :))
I loved tmnt all growing up and this newest movie was SO good and I’m glad they continue coming up with new ideas for the franchise. Also the boy and the heron was such an incredible experience to see in theaters!
One unexpected show that I really ended up liking was a physical 100. I randomly started it with my friend and thought we would stop after the first ep but ended up watching the whole season and we were so invested by the end!
I played totk and LOVED it but randomly stopped playing when I got to gerudo which was my last boss fight and haven’t played since.. but I did get into Ark which is a fun dino survival game! Lastly, I am not a fan of sweet potatoes. (Plus I finally got into twitch and have been enjoying your streams!)
The devils plan was one of my favorite shows of the year I'm so glad you liked it

One movie you didn’t talk about was Elemental, I feel like it had mixed reviews but I personally really liked it. The animation is fun, and the story is really sweet.
my favorite new season of a show (along with succession) had to be it's always sunny in philadelphia, this season is one of the best ones they had ever

watched bleu is afraid last night, after staying up 24 hours, and never had been in more of trance and confused in my life.
Didnt think I was a huge film person but had seen nearly all of these and loved them all! Although i don't agree that Saltburn is like call me by your name, yeah there's at least 1 odd scene in both but the films are very different vibes imo
i saw saltburn last year, and while doing so learned how strange brighton odeon is :p but it genuinely made me want to become a film person :> i just want to hear everyone's opinion on it all the time, so i was super excited to hear your thoughts :D
Oh a surprisingly fun film I saw with my Odeon limitless (yeah, I tried that last year) was Renfield. It knew exactly what it was and wanted to be, and I respect that. A fun time.
Absolutely cannot believe that PJ missed Chicken Run 2 !!!
My year was watching all the big animated movies like Spiderverse, Puss n' Boots, TMNT and Super Mario I had a wonderful time with all of them. There’s a bunch more I have watch but theres too many to list.
As for games I haven’t finished Tears of the Kingdom like PJ but I will get to it eventually. Been loving Super Mario RPG so far and even if I don’t have PS5 Spider-Man 2 I did enjoy Sean's playthrew of it.

idk if it came out this year but the game moonlighter seems right up ur alley!! another dungeon crawler type game that has a style reminiscent of hyper light drifter. i have lost many hours to it.

My favorites are Puss in Boots, Mario movie, and Pokémon Concierge! I wish they’d make more of Pokémon concierge but apparently they don’t have plans to :(

Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves was really good. So fun. My dad is an old DnD player and if he approves I think that's quite impressive?
It felt like those older fun adventure/comedy films which for some reason we stopped making

TotK heavily relies on the story. FOLLOW EVERYTHING IN ORDER. The final scene, the best scene I have ever experienced in any other Zelda game, possibly any video game I have ever played.

Hell yeah PJ gets it 😎😎 Great to get some new recommendations as I'm always looking for new stuff to watch and play ❤ Also HELL YES for The Devil's Plan hype, I've been really enjoying it and it's so interesting to me so I've been telling everyone about it :) It's true about the long introductions but it's definitely worth sticking with, and I think it shows how much they've thought about it! I'm looking forward to series 2 and I hope that it launches out and gets huge!
