The BMW R1250 GS Is Not What I Was Expecting At All

- At first glance I instantly like the looks of the BMW R1250 GS Adventure bike but I knew that it wasn't going to have one thing I absolutely needed but it turns out, I Was WRONG!
I have a 2022 GSA 1250 and as a 64 year old I road by myself from Arizona to Pennsylvania and back. The same summer I road from Arizona to Sturges and back. The rides were smooth and exhilarating. Everything on the bike is stock except the tires. The tires are made for off road and on road. On the travels I camped and stayed in hotels. In the campgrounds it was nice having enduro mode for gravel roads and parking lots. On the freeway to bike is smooth and could quickly pass every vehicle I wanted to pass. Adventure Bikes are designed for the rider to stand on the pegs in rough terrain. I stand while riding down the road. Standing allows me to stretch my legs and while in traffic tailgaters back off. I also own a 2019 Road Glide. The GSA is more comfortable, quicker and feels safer than the Road Glide. I can pickup either bike if I dropped one, but the GSA is much lighter. I road 13,000 miles with the Garmin navigation system and still find it cumbersome. The nav unit cost over $1,000.00 it tells the speed limit and the speed reading turns red when the bike is exceeding the limit. Programing destinations requires a computer connection. If you get off the planned path it can have you going around in circles. I bought a BMW phone cradle it seemed nice, but my phone rattled loose and was lost on the highway. I ended up using road signs and the direction of the sun. Recap I had two great long distance trips on a bike that is fun to ride and builds confidence. Thanks for your review.
Nice to see your variety of content and fair review. Own many bikes, none BMW. Seriously considering a BMW 1250 GSA. Love the 7.9 gal fuel tank and ability to traverse forest roads for camping trips. One correction, weight is 591 lbs., but that would be as bone stock, no bags, trunk, tank bags or other added accessories, still reasonable for it's size. Thanks for the review.
Foot Pegs are made by Illium and they mount to the engine guards. Rox risers help with the Vertical Challenges for the handlebars.
This is probably the bike I would have if my wife didn't ride with me 90% of the time. I think there are better options for that type of touring at our age. I may have missed it but you know this bike has a quick shifter, right? What was your opinion on power delivery vs. your Harley?

You have both gun and motorcycle content. I have a 2018 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec in armor grey.
The bmw gs also comes in a low chassis if your so inclined. I don’t know what that brings the seat height down to.
I had a 2017 GSA low. I’m 5’11” with 32” inseam and could flatfoot it. The regular GSA is about 2 inches taller I believe.
There's definitely some BMWs that I like a lot but never been a fan of the transverse engine
