Hilarious. Just one of the many loose threads from the series. She went from soul-mate to sole mate. He’s out partying with the old gang and she’s at home in France deep into the wine-cellar. Sometimes the Star Trek writers just do something into the bed that’s not very nice.

To be realistic, if Stewart is less finished with the role than he thought, it is better to act sooner than later. As long as it is possible since nobody is immortal and the movies lost many actors during filming already. Starting in some few years from today might be a little late already. I'm glad Stewart thinks this way though everyone needs to act now, precise and with the most care to the product as possible. It's time to deal with a legend before it becomes a legacy

In the early 2000s I got to work with and become friends with Patrick Stewart. It was with him I saw the exhaustion of an actual person being confused with a character they play. In particular an ambush encounter. We had a guy show up to the stage door in full Klingon garb and his translator, they were demanding the presence of Captain Picard. Our front desk person informed him that Captain Picard is on television and the actor who plays Captain Picard is playing an unrelated character named “George” and the Klingon apologized in English and left.

Am I the only one who doesn't want this? Picard and the TNG crew have had THREE finales already. Three goodbyes. Three sendoffs. Enough already!
A big part of the magic that made TNG so great is that it wasn't a rehash of TOS, nor was it a show about Kirk's son or Spock's daughter. It was a fresh new show, in a new era, with NEW (and very different) characters. Nowadays, studios are absolutely terrified of doing anything that isn't a reboot or rehash or bringing back old, familiar characters. Picard and the TNG crew finally got a satisfying sendoff in the S3 finale of Picard. LET IT BE.

I thought S3 of Picard was an excellent epilogue to their story. The closing scene with the crew, with the classic outro theme... I don't want another bad ending to ruin it. I've always longed for a series that takes place at Starfleet Command. It could focus on the institution, politics, threats to the Federation, the admirals running it, diplomacy with other alien races etc.
Similar to DS9 it would be mostly stationary on Earth or star bases, though admirals would certainly occasionally visit deployed ships. Also, various star ships regularly report and visit Starfleet Command,
making it easy to develop stories. I could imagine a few specials (or at least cameos) with Admiral Picard or Admirals Ricker etc.

Personally, I would be much more excited about a Picard series being created - or one including Picard - that has the LOOK and FEEL of the original TNG we love and miss. I didn't hate Picard the series - it had some good points and some bad ones - but the main problem for me was that it was so radically different from the series we loved in almost every way that this character came from, that it was like NOT doing that character but some new one. The movies had a similar issue, but I realize they had to justify the much larger budget etc in that case. One season of a Picard interacting with people who have come through the show over the years* would be good enough for me!
    * - Moriarty (not the hologram they cheated us with in Picard S3 but the actual one "living" inside that portable holodeck)
    - That scientist lady who stayed behind when her people were not ready to accept warp capable Starfleet (TNG episode called "First Contact")
    - Rassmusen the fake time traveler who was discovered and taken to a starbase
    - Tons more over the years. Or maybe Picard time traveling 1000 years to the planet he lived 40 years of his life in, virtually. Actually meeting the REAL people there before doom strikes.

Could be onboard the Enterprise G (serving as more of a second backdoor pilot for ST:Legacy) and could easily feature Janeway (pretty easy to make a natural feeling connection since Seven is Captain) and Picard as he was shown to have the reckoning stone in season 2 of Picard. Another option: a crossover of black ops and picard as a pilot for legacy.
It could be a story involving philippa georgiou teaming up with worf regarding the aftermath with the romulans. Q is involved. Picard is helping jack and the enterprise dealing with Q. Characters from voyager (tuvok) or ds9 (sisko) might be a part as well.
The movie could be a starting point for a legacy movie focussed on the old topics, like romulans and Q (except there will be no borg).
    The benefits:
    - paramount will only have to fund 1 movie,
    - its an interesting story,
    - it ties up many lose ends in the current star trek universe and brings a bit of order in the current chaos, and - it leads to the much awaited legacy series.

The show could involve Garak, leading a new Cardassia, and petitioning for admittance to the Federation. Bajor is against it, and any remaining Maquis are, too. Picard and Ro go back to DS9, meet up with some familiar faces, and it takes off from there.

I'd love a thriller/detective story involving Seven and Picard. Something goes wrong with a diplomatic mission on the EntG and Seven is put under court martial but Picard knows this was sabotage by an old enemy. Have Jack and Raffi be the ones doing the action while Picard and Seven do the court scenes

It still feels like Star Trek is looking at the temporal cold war with hunger eyes and I'd be happy if they finally ended the nostalgia era of Trek with like a trilogy of long Trek's telling that story, bringing everyone who is willing back and having their big End Game moment. *As long as after we can get a new cast in a new era without all the baggage.

They should use the long trek format for what should be a yearly anthology series with various secondary stories in a made for tv movie format. Plunk it down in December each year when TV is typically on its holiday break. Do S31 for 2024, In 2025 Do Khan which they have been wanting to do since the beginning and would be something to tie into SNW to begin foreshadowing canon. Maybe 2026 would be a good schedule to revisit Picard again.
The problem here is while Picard is the bigger name in trek history, Its the smaller stories that made trek great. We need to know what comes next for the whole universe. What happened to The Bajorans? Ferengi? Cardassians? What was the agreements made between the alpha beta allies and the dominion axis? Does the dominion persist in its pre war state in the gamma quadrant and prevented from coming across the wormhole? Does the federation get the ability to explore the gamma quadrant? What about the seemingly lawless delta quadrant? Especially after a deflated Borg creates massive power vaccums.
People are getting too hung up on the faces and names when we need to get back to universe building.

I suspect that Paramount might be more inclined to do a series of Long Trek films for streaming instead of a Legacy show - I think their silence speaks volumes since they have already committed to the Academy series and SNW (not forgetting LD).
I think a film with Picard will happen, I think it needs to be soon, and it could be set up in a way that could allow for a set of films (trilogy?) featuring legacy characters.

Sela wishes to rebuild the Romulan Star Empire, theres a huge battle between the Free State (Laris is on the Free State Council) and Sela's fleet, since Sela's flagship is overpowered (thanks to Borg technology) a Federation fleet under Picard helps the Free State, the battle destroys the Enterprise-G...yay, but in the end the good guys are victorious; we then see the next Enterprise in mid-construction, which will officially lead into Legacy.

Regarding the lack of a Star Trek Legacy announcement… keep in mind that it took over a year for Strange New Worlds to be announced following the end of Discovery S2. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Legacy announcement this April.
As for a Picard Long Trek… how about a Picard/Q buddy movie? Maybe they have to work together to rescue Jack and the rest of the Enterprise G from some mysterious new power exploiting the fact that Jack is Picard’s new-found son and Q’s new-found object of amusement/torment…

At first, I wasn't hyped about it. But there is an unfinished story. And while I figured it would be a perfect jump point for Legacy, I can see where it could happen.
And we'd get more Orla Brady as Laris. The Sela storyline. And with what happened in Picard Season 1 and Season 2 with a Romulan graduating from Star Fleet Academy, it's very possible that it would garner the attention of one of the deadlier Romulan foes.

Another Picard film! I love it. I love many of the shows and certainly a Star Trek IV with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban sounds just as exciting. I must say, how would you cross those over? There is no Vulcan! I cannot see how that can possibly work? I’m not the norm…I don’t at all like the “opposite” universes or any of that.
But Patrick Stewart in a new Star Trek film? Yes! I’d love that. Good news indeed. No, I won’t hang my hat on that. Patrick Stewart is 84. I am perfectly realistic about older actors. I’m 55 (56 in just two and a half weeks), so many of my favourite actors actresses have died or are beyond acting from physical or mental or both problems.
I’ll leave the plot story to the writers!
    Thank you, Sean Perry.

  • @AnnetteFrancescaDesigns

The idea of a new Picard movie isn't a bad one, new Trek is always a welcome thing. My concern is that there is a finite budget for Trek content, we already have Academy and Section 31 pencilled in, SNW and Lower Decks are continuing (as far as we know this being Paramount) so a big chunk is already allocated. Assuming that there will be a small amount left for another project I have to say I'm leaning more towards expanding the newer characters that P3 set up. Don't get me wrong I love all of TNG characters and wallowed in the nostalgia of P3 but the franchise has so much more to explore and I really want to see these new characters become part of the Trek family before I see the next part of the Picard journey. Ideally I wish we would have both but I don't think Paramount has the money to do it.

Given that most of the recent Star Treks have had End of the Universe type of stakes, I really love the idea of a comedy. I'm honestly thinking slapstick at points, with Elnor brought back for some physical comedy. And yes, Laris as the rom-com element. Plus finding out Jurati-borg are the new goofballs of the universe. I very much enjoy the high stakes stuff of the recent shows, but for once it'd be nice to just be entertained with belly laughs.

In my opinion, another story with Picard would be awesome... especially if it includes the rest of the TNG cast and expands to include characters from Voyager and DS9. My only negative comment about how Picard Season 3 ended is that bringing Q back completely destroyed the story of Season 2 (spoiler alert: a large part of Season 2 was about how Q was dying). I love what Terry Matalas did with Season 3... except for that very last scene in which Q came back and fluffed off having died. I'm a lot more interested in Section 31 with Michelle Yeoh than this. Yeoh is still in her prime as an actress, and she's "fantastic" (to use a term from another series). A Picard movie doesn't sound that great to me anymore, the time seems to have passed unless they simply use the name and presence of him to finally bridge into good stories in the "Legacy" timeline. I don't really want any more shows about Picard grappling with his mental health and childhood trauma.

I agree with the notion that Picard's story is done. His character has had 3 finales now (All Good Things, Nemesis, Picard), we don't need another. Any time/money spent toward such a project would now be better served doing something fresh, or at least away from Picard-centric. Legacy, an Ent-F production, giving DS9 some live action post Dominion War love, etc.

I would love Star Trek: Galaxy by Red Letter Media. It could start as a movie with Picard in it but then Picard disappears in time and the crew of the Galaxy have to travel true time to save him. Picard would show up at the end of season 1 to reveal a bigger treat of the Galaxy. At the start of season 2 Picard would end up back in the 25th century but it is different. Picard would tell the crew of the Galaxy to find out what was happening and why people and things had changed in the 25th century. Picard would stay behind to give the Galaxy time to get away. Patrick Stewart would not need to do much in this show but Picard would still play a big key role in the show so that might make everyone happy including Stewart.
