@wartowne It's hard to find Vikings to take videos of. If you have one, I would love to take video of it. I'm only a little over 2 hours from DFW. The sun had gone down when this video was shot so the quality isn't great. Would be nice to get one in the daylight. Julie : ) HorseMoney@aol.com
The "horsemoney" channel is like porn for aviation buffs! This video is awesome and is what has been missing from the internet! I may be biased, but there is no aircraft that sounds quite as good in a fly by as a Viking
@jaybird42o Just because it was hangared all of it's life, doesn't mean there isn't any problems with the wood. I'm not trying to scare you out of buying one because they are great airplanes. Just make sure you have someone that really knows about them, not just any A&P, check it out first.
@horsemoney I may see if I can get a buddy with an HD cam to grab some footage. I'll try and replicate what is in this video with my turbo viking! Great stuff !
I believe all the IO-540 "K" engines were 300 hp but not the IO-540 "G" engines, they were only 290 hp.... This is a 1970 17-31A which has the "G" engine.... Julie : )

Beautiful plane... I grew up flying in my father's Bellanca 260... So, I always enjoy seeing videos of the Viking series.

The take off at 7:40 was really steep. It must be a strong plane. How many horse power is it in the plane?
@lilljimmy96 It's a Lycoming IO540. 290hp I believe.
@UNSClead1 Yes, still in it's vintage 1970 colors, however the video makes the aqua look a little washed out. It's still a lot of fun....LOL

Negative! They are all 300 hp w the exception of the earlier models which were 260hp.
Some were 290 hp before the 300 hp.
