Zondo doesn't even try to address the content, he merely calls it an insult. Talk about this arm of the state being equal than the others. On this one Ill advised, opportunity missed. You invite Sisulu either publicly or privately to accentuate on the article. She apologizes for her gross generalizations, you concede where she's right, it is called a mature discourse at that level.

All institutions get to be criticised. Why is judiciary sacrosanct? Judiciary is the third arm of the state but not even a single judge was called in the so-called "state capture" commission. I may not agree with the wording and the timing of Sisulu's article but there is a lot that need to be questioned about certain judgements. Sisulu is just trying to begin her campaign trail.
Did the scope of the commission include looking into the Judiciary?

She is speaking about favouring Afrocentric systems on property rights & addressing land alienation & how the current judiciary even with Africans on the bench in her view is a stumbling block to addressing legacy issues and re-righting the terrible wrongs of the past which were done under the guise of respect for rule of law eg 1913 the Native Land Act, The Group Areas Act, The Native Resettlement Act of 1954. The attack & insults on the judiciary are of course misplaced and deliberately so because that helps a populist political narrative she is weaving for her election run this year.

What I find interesting here is that Mr Zondo's complaint is that Minister Sisulu did not substantiate what she expressed in her opinion piece.
Minster Sisulu's opinions were published in the form of a newspaper article.
This means that she had limited space to get her opinions across.
In his first instalment of the his State Capture report Mr Zondo allocated himself 874 pages and still failed to substantiate the adverse ""findings" that he makes against a carefully selected group of people including. but not limited to, President Zuma, Ms Dudu Myeni, Mr Mzwanele Manyi, Mr Moyane and many others who are perceived as supporters of President Zuma.
Mr Zondo simply states these people were "enablers" of State Capture without giving a proper analysis of the evidence he bases his "findings" on.
The reason why this worries me is Mr Pravin Gordhan who is regarded as the star witness of the Commission conceded, under cross examinaion by Mr Moyaer's lawyers that his allegations of state capture were based on nothing more than pure gossip.
Watch Mr Gordhan;s cross examination if you doubt this.
Ubabu Zondo should have kept quite and not respond unless Miss Sisulu did strike a nerve because South Africans are not fools but they can see clearly through what is dominating within the country at present and truth will come out by God's grace we pray

Chief, laws are based on common sense, its how you apply them that needs to differ based on context. Our laws need to be contextualized, not done away with. Those are just the rantings of theives.
For instance, American laws are centred around Christian discourses of morality. They can say that they are secular, but stealing is not only seen as illegal, but it is also seen as immoral.
SA needs to find a way of making our laws part of our moral fabric.

So if you are European and born in African, then you are African too, a White African. I hope I made myself clear.

Asian, European, African are geographical yes but they also ethnic labels this is universal. Again if you are being honest when someone speaks of an Asian (you either think of an Indian or Chinese looking person). Anyone who has features of a person from the Indian subcontinent is referred to as Indian why is that? Many are not born on the subcontinent never even been, they don’t even hold citizenship nor do their parents. Why is that? Because it’s an ethnic label. During apartheid era they clearly labelled park benches, train coaches etc Europeans only. There is no such thing as native African... natives as the apartheid regime liked to label them are African.

Mr Zondo and his colleagues in the constitutional court is aware about the biased judgements they made against the so called hated individuals instead of upholding the constitution.Their judgement protect the untouchables and now the citizens has lost confidence in the judiciary because it always and mostly used to oppress those who oppose the continuation of oppression in areas of economic exclusion and land disposition.Hence abusing judiciary to protect those who are corrupt and continue in their corruption even right now bc they can't be brought to book.They are the untouchables.They are known but still holding influencial position in government departments.

Mr. Zondo is too emotional and immature for the seat of CJ. One could hear he was responding from emotiins when he said "I didnt engage Ms Sisulu, she didnt engage the judiciary before writing the article". To him everything is an ego contest. He responded the same to Mr Zuma in the request for his recusal, he made it about him, taking things personal. It ended in a july unrest costing loss of lives. We cannot have a CJ that gambles with lives behind his ego. Even if Sisulu or Zuma was wrong in his view, he holds a higher office that requires higher discipline from him, two wrongs dont make a right.

Does Zondo even know the basic meaning of the word "OPINION"? It is a view which is not based on any facts. Sisulu is a politician and wrote her political opinion about the way she sees how the law and judges has failed the marginalized masses. An opinion can be as a insult. The opinion expressed not only insulted the judges but insulted South Africans. It was an insult and also denigrated our constitution and those judges who uphold the constitution of our country by being highly racist.

She is a politician and has no obligation to nurse Zondo's inflated ego by tip toeing around issues that are fundamental to the majority of the citizen. Her political opinion was bound not to sit well with those who are well off and are benefitting greatly from how the current constitution is being framed. Zondo by replying to a political opinion piece that is structured to foster national debate shows his lack of leadership that must be able to read the situation and make sound judgement. I hope he doesn't become the next Chief Justice but it is forgone conclusion that Ramaphosa will reward him with that position for steering the state capture far away from him.

It's very unfortunate for the DCJ to vent out emotions and be so reactive to an issue that required and demanded proper analysis esp considering the source "Ms Lindiwe Sisulu." The Zondo Commission in my opinion was a real waste of state funds moreso when one studies the first report handed over to the President. It lacked partiality and indepth tackling of parties concerned. This exposes loopholes in the judicial system hence Ms Sisulu felt the need to share her dissatisfaction with the nation. Judging from Mzwanele Manyi's response to the report, even if he is guilty, l found myself on his side. There, the commission simply summarized events that are common to the general public and their verdict was from the street and very obvious. Such a conclusion left a lot to be desired, esp coming from an aspiring Chief Justice. It's very shallow and impartial. I'm worried!

I miss Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng already. What an honorable man he is that one. Justice Zondo doesn't have to entertain Ms Sisulu's opinionated article. I don't think she had to elaborate on anything. She wasn't submitting court papers here.

The former Chief Justice Moegoeng did the same. He defended the judiciary when under attack from policians.

CJ ZONDO must just STOP playing to the GALLERY in a bid to please his MASTERS. He MUST also accept that PRUDENCE doesn't make anyone an UNTOUCHABLE. PEOPLE mustn't forget that the APARTHEID regime used the JUDICIARY to render that inhumane and abhorrent system LEGAL and SUSTAINABLE.

Unfortunately Judge Zondo, most of us share the same believe as Minister Sisulu, in as far as objectivity and independence is concerned by the interpreters of the law. Do self introspection sir, and stop wanting to control how we feel about you. We miss the leadership of Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng
