I can see him getting one tomorrow, but THREE? He definitely benefits from playing under Shanahan, but I don't have as much confidence in the rest of the 49er front office under Lynch to continue building contending squads.

No gm is going to be perfect, and I don't think Lynch is or will be terrible going forward. I just don't think that the front office will be GREAT. And they'll need to be great in the front office to sustain S-Bowl contention status in this salary-capped league. Some fall offs are likely.

I’m starting to think my Niners will lose. We barely came back to defeat the Packers and Lions. Doing these comebacks will be tougher against KC knowing KC has much better defense than what GB and Detroit has. NFC is the weak sauce conference. Ravens vs. Chiefs was the real SB. And Purdy will likely gag again and throw two INTs while Mahomes will have zero.
I hate it. Niners will lose three straight SBs after winning our first five. We’ll be responsible for giving Mahomes two of his three rings. I still don’t get why we’re the favorites? Because of the Niner Faithful? We should still be the underdog because what has Purdy or any of the Niners proven at this point except lose leads in big games? Shanahan could be the Doc Rivers of the NFL. Coaches talented teams but can never close the deal.
We haven’t won shit in 29 years. Chiefs have won two in the last four years. It’s starting to feel like we’re the 90s Buffalo Bills. We keep making the Super Bowl only to lose in them over and over. The game could still be close but probably will be decided by a field goal. I think back in 2020 when we lost to KC, it was our DEFENSE that let us down. We let them score 3 TDs in the 4th with only 7 minutes left to play. I’m hoping Greenlaw, Armstead and Bosa have big games for us.
If we had just covered Tyreek Hill better in that 3rd and 15, we might’ve won Super Bowl 54. We need our defense to really get it at Mahomes and make him extremely uncomfortable early. A couple early sacks can do. Watch how Tampa Bay defeated the Chiefs three years ago. Got to make Pat keep running around and get him tired. Everyone is looking at the offensive side of things.
Yeah, ofc we all know Mahomes is far better than Purdy. The future GOAT vs. Mr. Irrelevant is like comparing Godzilla to Bambi. But it’s our defense that can win us this game.

I hate you, Skip Bayless, for being right but you will. KC wins. But what can you expect from a QB nicknamed Mr. Irrelevant? Probably back to irrelevance in a Super Bowl. It’s a cute story but it’s not going to win Super Bowls.
What kind of nickname is Mr. Irrelevant? SMH. It’s like conceding he is and sounds condescending and not encouraging at all. I get it. Another underdog/coming out of left field story like Kurt Warner bagging groceries a year before he won the SB. But why not a nickname like Mr. Fantastic or Mr. Purfect? Why Mr. Irrelevant? It’s like reassurance that he is.
Purdy looks like Michael Angarano in The Forbidden Kingdom. A deer in headlights when the spotlight shines too bright on him. He’s the Niners’ Austin Reaves except Austin doesn’t feel that much pressure that Brock has because he’s not playing the most important position in football while playing to win a Super Bowl.
Brock Purdy is going to unravel and I’ll hate seeing it because I want my Niners to win this SB so badly. Call me the Niner Unfaithful. But great pick by Laura. She makes a great point nobody was talking about. We have Run CMC this time. While everyone looks at the QBs, it could be the RBs making the bigger difference.

It seems most of the media are picking the Chiefs but most of the fans and people in the comments are picking the Niners. And I bet Niner Faithful will outnumber Chiefs Kingdom on Sunday by a 60-40 ratio or even higher. I really hope I’m wrong with my pick just like most of the media.
I haven’t seen my Niners win a SB since I was in the 8th grade. Think about that. What was happening for me on January 29, 1995 during Super Bowl 29? I don’t recall seeing much of this game if I did see it. I don’t recall having a SB party with my family for it. I only remember the Niners won and it was a blowout.
I owned a Super NES and played Super Mario World and Mortal Kombat II constantly. That’s what was happening a lot from 1994-1995. And I recall seeing The Shawshank Redemption in the theater with my mom, aunt, and my little brother’s caretaker during January 1995. That’s the only monumental thing I remember in January 1995. I initially didn’t want to see it only to walk out of the theater thinking it was the greatest movie I had ever seen.
Bringing out my maroon Niners hat for today and tomorrow. Hope it gives us some good luck which wasn’t the case 4 years ago. I don’t want to wait 50+ years like Spike Lee is doing with his Knicks to see my team win another chip. Let’s get to No. 6 to tie Steelers and Patriots. Then let’s be the first NFL franchise to win 7 SBs.

I'm going with the most controversial team . I'm going with the team the caught passes off of the defense's facemask and as we all know , that's simply how the ball bounces sometimes . I'm going with the team who were down but not out , trailing by a double digit deficit , but displayed the poise to overcome like the New England Patriots have before them . I'm going with the team with the most to prove , more so being the quarterback , Brocky Ball Boa . This team will be sure of themselves , playing with more urgency , with more awareness , with more grit and intelligence this time around .

Should be great game. If you guys win it will be deserved. Our defense is tops and will blitz like crazy.
I think the interesting thing about the analysis of this game is the idea that Spagnolo will:
1. Be able to stop the run of CMC and Deebo to force Purdy to beat them
and
2. Even if the Chiefs DO contain the 49ers run game, how will they contain CMC, Deebo, Kittle underneath?
None of the analysis seems to respect Purdy's brain enough over Spagnolo, and I think that's a huge oversight on the part of the analysts. Give an elite minded QB that many options, and I'll take my chances against ANY defense. Let's not forget that if all else fails, Purdy showed two weeks ago that he can tuck it and run for 8-15 yards, and that's all you need to do to really demoralize even the best defensive units

I just don't foresee the Chiefs being as successful as touted in their rushing game here. The Packers & Lions are much more formidable in their o-line personnel and ground attack than the Chiefs in that dept. That could set Mahomes up for more 3rd and longs which isn't the ideal recipe you need to keep up with that 49er offense. Spags has been fantastic, but I think that they'll have their hands full trying to slow down the multi-weaponed attack of the 49ers, particularly the 49ers zone rushing scheme.
