Missed the TCG Player video? You can find it here - ua-cam.com/video/Spd7HRd4qew/v-deo.html One part I decided to leave out of the video since this was all NA focused is yesterday Build/Divide announced end of service but NOT for the Anime/Collab side, Bright. I think we'll see a lot more IP focused TCGs going forward as more companies try to get in on this overall growing global market.
Small disclaimer I forgot to mention - this is for the HOBBY CHANNEL data they have shown in the past which traditionally does not count big box stores (Target, Walmart, etc.) For the Overall top 5 it goes: Pokemon MTG Lorcana YGO OPTCG Due to challenges around gathering and verifying the information I normally don't like to include the overall breakdown, but wanted to add a note here for people who want that list as well. Either way Lorcana is Top 3, but will it hold?
This time period was probably peak for Lorcana because it includes the announcement of the first Challenges that had a lot of people buying into the game
9:25 Doesnt surprise me personally. No new blood is getting into YGO as its a dreadful mountain to climb to even "enjoy" it. Not surprised to see new upcomers dethrone it from the Big 3. Lorcana/One Piece as all I see with MTG as the safe games most LGSes stock where I am. Digimon eeking out that Top 10 slot is a pleasant surprise to see.
Lorcana at #3 seems fitting, it’s a great game backed by the biggest IP in the world. The Worlds tournament being held at Disneyworld, Lorcana promos being handed out at the biggest animated film release of the year, Lorcana will cement itself as a mainstay for years to come if Ravensburger continue with their successes. I just wish they tighten up the print runs, and do more for collectors, collectors need more than just Enchanteds
Bandai in this new era hasn't cancelled a TCG yet so its hard to say. I keep hearing that set 7 is also confirmed. We've seen from many other studios that as long as a small threshold of people are buying the game they will keep making it Force of Will is still alive after all these years
That was never gonna happen. Bushiroad already had a track record with the license, and Universus did some stuff with it earlier this year, not to mention MTG.
Man, none of these games really call to me. I’ll always have my commander deck for MTG, but I just can’t see myself playing anything else here in the top ten. Hopefully something comes around that can gain my interest back in TCGs.
If you're looking for something new to play I might recommend something along the lines of Marvel Champions Card Game by Fantasy Flight Games. Exploring more of the tabeltop side there's a lot of fun games that can still scratch that card game itch!
It gives perspective on just how much a tcg needs to be moving to breach top 3(guess top 4 now) status. One piece is popular for sure but the mountain it's trying to climb is way bigger than people think
Good to know! There were a few SRs all around similar numbers to Piglet it was just the one with the purely highest amount of sales. I'd give a guess then at least one of them was a 4x for Lorcana
As someone who played during peak FAB and won the largest RTN in NA, I don't honestly think this is the case anymore. With better prizing Lorcana and OPTCG both have seen a large influx in players across game backgrounds.
Lorcana is easy to learn and fun to play (casually). Competitive can be a sweaty slog as its a product of human nature, but the overall community is chill

Pretty interesting seeing Weiss over FAB. Tbh I thought FAB was bigger.
He said it depends on their set release schedule. Other times they're 4-5 when they get the double set release to fit into the reporting period
@@HeavensMandate8040 yup but tbh I didn't think it was even close enough to happen even when weiss had a good quarter.
Neat, that Digimon is in top 10. Wonder if the unification later on will affect that.
Games been solid since they eased up on power creep since EX06
What do you think about the future of Battle Spirits saga?

RIP to hoping Godzilla would be on UA

I think lorcana has a lot of TCGplayer sales is because the packs are more expensive
I wonder how Union Arena will do with more sets coming out.
Because it follows the same business plan as Weiss Schwarz, it will be a top 10 game instantly

as a former dbs ccg player
F fusion world
I’m here for it
Yeah, from Michigan and it seems like digital versions of a game just get hurt. especially shadowverse evolve.
At least we have World's Beyond to look forward to soon :' )
@ true hahaha
I'm glad to see fab still on it
Flesh amd blood is huge. Hes basing his list off of talking to one distributor
The fact that Moriah and Piglet are posting similar numbers is insane. Moriah is a 4-of staple in every deck of that color, Piglet is... not.

The game that magic pros are moving to is FaB.

RIP BSS Bandau fumbled battle spirits again.

I can only speak to my home store where I sometimes run into Lorcana players, but they've all been great so far!
UwU
Truly the mvp
Lorcana has to be a psyop I have never seen anyone play that garbage nor does it ever leave shelves. Bandai is King of games so far
I have no clue how it looks in the US, but every single One Piece release has been majorly allocated for lgs in canada
